Intel takes a look at 5nm chips, already in the foreseeable future
Like UnlikeFiled in: Intel
If you look at the mobile industry, ARM designs and chips dominate the scenery with 28nm being the keyword for this year with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 leading the pack, but looking on the other side of things, there is Intel which is already a generation ahead of most mobile chip manufacturers with its 22nm Ivy Bridge lineup, but what’s interesting is that it wants to break further ahead and has already 5nm silicon in its plans.
A leaked slide of Intel’s plans details how the company wants to switch to 13nm manufacturing as soon as next year, and continue to increase the transistor density with 10nm and less projected for 2015 and later.

LG Optimus 2X to get Ice Cream Sandwich in Q3
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsLGGoogleOptimus 2XAndroid 4.0
That the LG Optimus 2X is going to get Ice Cream Sandwich eventually is something that we know already. After all, the company itself made the announcement of an upcoming ICS update quite a while ago. However, we didn't have much information as to when the said update was going to be released... until today.
As stated by LG Mobile Singapore on Facebook, the LG Optimus 2X Android 4.0 update will start rolling out in Q3 of this year. In other words, there will be no Ice Cream Sandwich for LG Optimus 2X owners for at least another one and a half to three and a half months. Or at least not for those located in Singapore and the surrounding markets.

Anonymous may be 'the most powerful organization on Earth,' says hacker
Like UnlikeChristopher Doyon or Commander X, head of Anonymous offshoot the People's Liberation Front, doesn't think the hacktivist group will be fazed by the arrest of several of its members. In an interview with the National Post, Doyon, who is currently facing 15 years in prison for a "virtual protest" of a municipal website, admits the arrests have had a "chilling effect" but says that the group may still be "the most powerful organization on Earth."
According to Doyon, the increasingly politicized Anonymous is expanding beyond hacking. "Right now we have access to every classified database in the US government," he claims. "We didn’t hack them. The access was given to us by the people who run the ...

LG Optimus Elite on pre-order at Virgin Mobile; carrier's first NFC phone in the US
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus Elite
Sprint may already count the LG Optimus Elite among its roster of smartphones, but today that handset is finding a second home at Virgin Mobile. The $150 Gingerbread-powered device is now up for pre-order, and Virgin says it will start shipping on May 15th. Though the 3.5-inch HVGA display, 800MHz CPU and 5-MP rear camera aren't exactly impressive specs, the Optimus Elite stands out as the carrier's first phone to include NFC and Google Wallet for mobile payments. Unlike Sprint, which offers a white version, Virgin Mobile will only sell the Optimus Elite in silver. And while the former carrier prices the phone at just $30 after a mail-in rebate, Virgin's cheaper monthly plans might convince ...

BriefMobile has rumored a new LG device with a feature list that looks like a smartphone-lover's dream. The LG LS970, which the site is calling the "Eclipse 4G LTE," is said to be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor paired with an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It also includes a 13-megapixel camera, 16GB of storage, and a separate radio capable of voice-over-LTE (VoLTE). The phone itself, unhelpfully pictured from the back, appears to be a proof-of-concept prototype rather than a production-ready device, with an exposed aerial port and unfinished branding.

Redsn0w 0.9.11b1 now allows post-iPad 2 devices to downgrade to an older firmware
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesTabletsAppleiPadiPad 2iPhone 4s
Per usual, the Dev-Team whiz-kids have been hard at work trying to make your jailbroken iOS life a tad bit easier. This time around, MuscleNerd & Co. have outed their latest revision of RedSn0w (0.9.11b1), allowing folks using the new iPad, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S to downgrade to lower firmwares for jailbreaking purposes -- a feature others have been enjoying for some time now. As expected, you'd still need those saved SHSH blobs from the previous firmware in order to do so, and if your device depends on an unofficial unlock, it's recommended (with a few exceptions) to steer clear since this method will upgrade your baseband. Speaking of, the Dev-Team also notes you should stick with an earlier...

Acer Liquid Glow hits the FCC, keeps its secrets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAcerLiquid Glow
Acer's Liquid series phones only occasionally reach the FCC, so it's with some surprise that we've just spotted the still-fresh Liquid Glow getting the US agency's approval under its E330 model name. Details are scarce as to whether or not there's been any changes made to the Android 4.0 phone on its way out of Taiwan, however: there's no telltale signs like cellular frequencies or carrier badging. If anything, Acer is hoping to keep information hush-hush by stamping a 180-day confidentiality seal on the manual and photos. It's entirely possible that this is the international GSM model with no 3G support for North American carriers, so we wouldn't get worked up about local release plans. Eve...
