JVC Multimedia and Navigation head-units pack touch, BT, app support

JVC has outed a bevy of new in-car head units, ranging from double-din touchscreen multimedia receivers through to motorized entertainment/multimedia systems, at CES 2012 today. Both the KW-AV multimedia range and KW-NT navigation range offer large LCD displays, iPhone multimedia support and, optionally, HD Radio access. Meanwhile, JVC has also added Bluetooth smartphone support with the new JVC KS-BTA100 module, as well as detailed incoming support for apps in its head units.

Alpine's INE-Z928HD in-car DVD receiver goes 8-inches in a double-DIN

Alpine's just unleashed its stash of CES paraphernalia, and it's the INE-Z928HD that's taking the lead. It's an in-car DVD navigation device, christened as the first in the category to offer an 8-inch WVGA display that tucks neatly within a conventional double-DIN opening. Moreover, it's equipped with Pandora control and creation from iPhone, Android and BlackBerry phones, a built-in HD Radio receiver, compatibility with SiriusXM (separate tuner and subscription required) and iPod / iPhone playback. Parrot offers launch date and pricing on Asteroid Android car stereo

Back during CES in January Parrot unveiled a new car radio that was powered by Android and had the ability to connect to the web and run apps. The radio was called the Parrot Asteroid and at the time it debuted, some of the details like when you could buy and what it would cost were unknown. Parrot has now announced that the Asteroid will be landing in October and the single DIN car stereo will set you back a bit under $350.

Much like Ford's MyFord Touch and SYNC AppLink system we covered a few months back, Pioneer is hoping to jump on the trend of the connected car by introducing a new system that allows iPhone and iPod content to be controlled on the dashboard of your car.
Called the Pioneer AppRadio, it integrates into your dashboard allowing you to use and control your apps such as Google Maps, YouTube and your calendar directly through the screen. This is aided with a hi-res, WVGA 6.1-inch capacitive multi-touch screen.

Sony in-car audio gets iPhone-based Pandora radio streaming

Sony picked Wednesday to revamp its in-car head units with a much heavier influence on digital sources in eight new devices. The CDX-GT565UP, DSX-S210X, and DSX-S310BTX all stream Pandora's Internet radio from a connected iPhone and go beyond just basic USB or Bluetooth audio. At least on the S210X and S310BTX, all the Pandora controls shift to the receiver, including the thumbs-up/thumbs-down to tune the recommendations.
