You wait for one Thunderbolt-compatible motherboard and then two decide to arrive on the same day. Going alphabetically, ASUS' P8Z77-V Premium is its first Intel-certified board to pack Thunderbolt and it's followed immediately by the P8Z77-V Pro / Thunderbolt. The connection will hook up to multiple storage drives or any Thunderbolt-friendly display -- it can be daisy-chained to up to six different devices. MSI's Z77A-GD80 packs a similarly complicated naming convention (although it's not yet certified by Intel) and like ASUS' offerings, will arrive with Intel's Z77 chipset ready to play nice with those new 22nm processors. Some official product photo's on the Socket 1155 based MSI Z77A-GD80 have surfaced on the web. The motherboard comes with a 22-phase VRM, Military class III components, four USB 3.0 ports, four SATA 6G / four SATA3G. You'll spot three PCIe x16 slots and four x1 slots.

MSI showed off its upcoming socket LGA1155 motherboards based on Intel's Z77 chipset, designed to accommodate next-generation "Ivy Bridge" Core processors out of the box. Like many other motherboard manufacturers with similar motherboards on display, MSI's Z77 motherboards lack the final designs of their typically fancy-looking heatsinks over the chipset and VRM, and make do with basic ones that get the job done, and more importantly, let visitors take a look at the components in use more closely.
