Acer Liquid Glow hits the FCC, keeps its secrets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAcerLiquid Glow
Acer's Liquid series phones only occasionally reach the FCC, so it's with some surprise that we've just spotted the still-fresh Liquid Glow getting the US agency's approval under its E330 model name. Details are scarce as to whether or not there's been any changes made to the Android 4.0 phone on its way out of Taiwan, however: there's no telltale signs like cellular frequencies or carrier badging. If anything, Acer is hoping to keep information hush-hush by stamping a 180-day confidentiality seal on the manual and photos. It's entirely possible that this is the international GSM model with no 3G support for North American carriers, so we wouldn't get worked up about local release plans. Eve...

Acer's B243PWL is a 24-inch IPS Display for Commercial Customers
Like UnlikeFiled in: MonitorsAcerB243PWL Kbmdrz
Typically when a company advertises a product for enterprise or commercial customers, what they're really saying is, 'Hey, we jacked up the price, thanks for your business.' That doesn't appear to be the case with Acer's new B243PWL monitor, a 24-inch "commercial display." It's a $329 (MSRP) monitor, but it boasts an IPS panel with a Full HD (1920x1200) 16:10 screen resolution and a 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic).

Acer regains PC share, optimistic on Windows 8, ultrabooks
Like UnlikeFiled in: Desktop ComputersAcer
Acer in discussing its latest results at an investor's conference was hopeful that this was a sign of a widescale resurgence in PCs for the industry. Its climb from 10.1 percent share in the fall to 10.9 percent this winter was a sign the company's "competitiveness is coming back," according to chairman JT Wang, and that Acer would climb back to third place while Dell sank. Demand for the spring would be typical in light of world economic troubles, but it would grow in earnest in 2012 and expand to more than 10 percent in 2013.

Apple spawned the media tablet market with the launch of the original iPad a couple of years back. Two iPad updates and countless Android tablets later, its viselike grip over the tablet market remains intact. To add insult to injury for its rivals, market research firm IDC recently predicted that it could take until 2015 for Android tablets to overtake the iPad in terms of market share. Well, not so fast. The curious thing about the Acer Iconia Tab A510 is that it's been out in the open for months -- we've even handled it -- but for whatever reason, Acer's never publicly acknowledged it as the successor to last year's A500. When we got hands-on at CES, for example, it wasn't at Acer's suite, but NVIDIA's booth (this is Acer's first Tegra 3 tablet, don'tcha know). Well, the company's finally ready to come out and say, "Yes, we made this thing." The A510 is up for pre-order today in the US and Canada, with a price of $450. Though you can get it in black or white, it's available in one 32GB configuration for now. To recap, this is a quad-core slate with 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) displ...
