Motorola Droid X2 support page talks about the Android 2.3.4 Update

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 by MG1

Well what do you know, Verizon and Motorola are preparing to launch an update for the Droid X2. We’ve no idea when that will exactly happen — as far as I know you may be getting it while reading this — but since the update already got a dedicated page at Verizon’s website (PDF file is here), I assume this will happen sooner rather than later.

November 3rd pegged as launch date for Google Nexus Prime; Verizon pumped about DROID RAZR

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 by MG1

Last month, we reported about a source for Droid-Life who calls himself the Panda King. The "King" had passed along word that the eagerly awaited debut of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android build would be launched via Verizon on November 3rd with the release of the Google Nexus Prime. Today, a source for Phandroid who is considered to be an Verizon "insider" confirmed that date as well. This means we can expect an introduction of the device to take place fairly soon.
At the same time, this source said that Verizon has high hopes for both the Google Nexus Prime and the Motorola DROID RAZR. Comparing the two, the source says the word he is getting is that the Nexus Prime has...

Samsung's Nexus Prime tipped again today, this time a PowerVR GPU gets in the mix

Samsung's Nexus Prime tipped again today, this time a PowerVR GPU gets in the mix

Posted on Oct 07, 2011 by MG1

The conflicting leaks about the upcoming Nexus Prime handset made by Samsung are starting to look borderline hype-generating deliberate. After we got a rumor earlier today about a 5MP camera and TI OMAP system chip, now we get a different story from the guys that were sent an actual picture of the device showing the HD screen resolution, that was posted on the same day that Apple was to announce the new iPhone 4S - by accident, we know.
Our hearts stay with this latest leak, though, allegedly coming from a guy inside Google, and not only because the first source broke a nutty story the other day about Sprint getting an iPhone 5 exclusively. It's rather since the latest rumor brings back to t...

Samsung Nexus Prime first image surfaces: 4.6” display with impressive 720 x 1280-pixel resolution

Samsung Nexus Prime first image surfaces: 4.6” display with impressive 720 x 1280-pixel resolution

Posted on Oct 05, 2011 by MG1

The Samsung Nexus Prime might have just spoiled a part of the iPhone day - the handset heralding Google’s latest Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, was spotted and it packs quite a punch in the form of a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This gives an impressive pixel density of over 320ppi. And don't worry about the fact that the screen shows 720 x 1184 pixels, as it's simply not counting the status bar and the on-screen key area.
Now, there’s one key factor to be considered - is it going to be a pentile screen or not? If it is, then the quoted pixel density won’t be comparable to phones with RGB screens as the pentile organization includes only two subpixels ra...

Samsung Galaxy S II is the king of Android sales in the UK

Samsung Galaxy S II is the king of Android sales in the UK

Posted on Oct 04, 2011 by MG1

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise when you consider the fact that Samsung has moved more than 10 million Galaxy S II units worldwide, but the Galaxy S II is the top selling Android smartphone in the UK.
The Galaxy S II is the best-selling smartphone ever produced by Samsung. With its 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos processor and an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities what’s not to love?
There was one point in September, the third week of the month, where the Galaxy S II was purchased with a contract more than any other Android manufacturer in the entire country. That is domination when you consider the competition that Samsung is con...

Well, it appears as though that some Dell Streak 7 owners are getting the update just a little bit earlier than the rumored date of October 7th – though, some are reporting different stories in regards to its installation process.

Google Nexus Prime should show at CTIA

Google Nexus Prime should show at CTIA

Posted on Sep 29, 2011 by MG1

Well, it looks like we were right about the Nexus Prime showing up at CTIA Oct. 11, as we’ve just received an invite from Samsung which will give us a “look at what’s new from Android.”
While Samsung doesn’t go outright and say this is the Nexus Prime or Galaxy Prime or Droid Prime or whatever, it does have the Android logo in it and this times up nicely with previous statements. The Nexus Prime is supposed to be the showcase device for Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which Google’s Eric Schmidt said would come in October or November.
Previous rumors suggested that this would have a 720p HD screen and we could easily see this as another version of the Galaxy S II HD LTE, which was announced with...

Not sure what was “wrong” with O2′s version of the HTC Sensation when the carrier decided to delay the Android 2.3.4 update thus far. I guess they wanted to test it out thoroughly prior to releasing the new software to the general public…
