HP releases webOS Community Edition for TouchPads

It was a few months ago when we got word of HP’s plans to release something called a “Community Edition” as an added part to webOS 3.0.5. Now, webOS Community Edition has been released for use on legacy TouchPad tablets. Users will be able to learn how the TouchPad works, make modifications and then eventually apply what they’ve learned to Open webOS 1.0 in the future.

This here is pure speculation, so we absolutely don't mind if you disagree with what you are about to read. Now that we've made that clear, let us present you with our (wild) hypothesis.
It is just that there is something about the Google Nexus 7 and its name. Think about it: it could have been named something else like the Google Nexus Tab, Google Nexus Slate, Google Nexus butter-on-toast, but no. We simply have a figure representing the device's display size. Why have a "7" at the end instead of some elegant moniker since there is no other Nexus tablet to confuse this one with?

A few days ago, ASUS released a video that teased an upcoming tablet that seems to be an addition to its Transformer line. The Transformer tablets can dock into a QWERTY keyboard and the video invited the viewer to join ASUS as it announces "the truly incredible next transformations". The manufacturer's next video was released on Thursday in advance of an announcement set for June 4th at Computex. Research in Motion’s BlackBerry PlayBook product manager, Michael Clewley, has confirmed through his Twitter page that the company is planning to release a beta version of its 2.1 Playbook OS by the “end of May.” After signing up as a BlackBerry developer, the update will be pushed to eligible devices once it is released. The company’s previous update brought native contacts, calendar and email to the tablet. Details surrounding the PlayBook OS 2.1 beta are not yet available.
