Owners of HTC's Thunderbolt and Desire HD smartphones aren't as lucky, having to wait perhaps until August, or longer, receive an ICS upgrade, according to HTC's newly published Android 4.0 roadmap.

Verizon and HTC say Gingerbread update for HTC ThunderBolt coming soon
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCVerizon WirelessThunderBolt
ack in late September, Verizon sent out an Android 2.3 update for owners of the HTC ThunderBolt. This took place after various rumors missed the mark on when Verizon's first LTE enabled phone would start running on Gingerbread. Whether or not there was a rush to get the software ready for the handset, some estimated that the update that started late last month was only 90% ready. As a result, HTC ThunderBolt users started experiencing problems after the new software was installed.
Some of the problems included erroneous email notifications and problems with the camera locking. Other issues were found with the clock app, Google Talk and HTC's Sense UI. But it looks like things are about to ge...

HTC ThunderBolt getting Gingerbread this quarter
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsHTCGoogleAndroid 2.3ThunderBolt
The HTC ThunderBolt was the first 4G-enabled smartphone on Verizon's speedy LTE network, but since its launch not much has changed with its software – the handset continues to run on the quickly aging Android 2.2 Froyo, even though back in March HTC spilled the beans about an upcoming Gingerbread update. Well, four months later, it's still coming, but this time we have a particular time period for it – the third quarter of the year.
HTC representatives have been spreading the word about the update which will add Gingerbread tweaks and features, and fix some problems along the way:
“We are working hard to address the issues you have mentioned with future updates for the device. We are excited...

Another software update due for the HTC ThunderBolt soon?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCThunderBolt
Even though the HTC ThunderBolt received its second software update last week (version 1.70.605.0), we've got word from one of our tipsters that another update may only be a couple weeks away.
The customer had contacted Verizon support via e-mail this week due to some issues with their ThunderBolt and was told about a new update that is due out soon. Some of the fixes are to include an issue with SMS/MMS messages going to the wrong contact, Gmail, and to resolve the pesky 4G data connection issue.

Verizon pushes latest Thunderbolt update: solves reboot issues, kills free mobile hotspot
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCVerizon WirelessThunderBolt
Don't act like Verizon didn't warn you: for Thunderbolt owners who see an available software update pop up on their phone this evening, they'll be placed squarely between a rock and a towering boulder. Why? On one hand, the Froyo OTA update promises to nix random reboots, improve data connectivity and fix the Bluetooth Discovery Mode pop-up windows. On the other, it adds a helping of bloatware (V CAST Music, V CAST Videos and My Verizon) while also killing the lust-worthy free mobile hotspot feature. Not like the carrier ever said it'd be any different come early July, but it's certainly a case of picking your poison here. If your T-bolt seems to be humming along just fine, we'd probably avo...

Thunderbolt gets Sense 3.0 through the back door
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCThunderBolt
Before HTC announced that the Thunderbolt wouldn't receive Sense 3.0, perhaps it should have consulted the dev community. That's because a determined group of modders have successfully massaged HTC's latest skin onto the popular Das BAMF Gingerbread ROM. The current iteration has some bugs, including a glitchy front-facing camera (that you can remedy by switching from widescreen to 4:3 capture), but it's now at release candidate status and awaiting a final coat of gloss. If you've got to have it now -- and have no interest in HTC's upcoming Android 2.3.4 build -- you'll need a rooted phone, S-Off status, and Clockwork Recovery to load the flashable ROM, along with the MR2 radio (preferably)....

HTC Thunderbolt getting Android 2.3.4 update, Skype Video on June 30th
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsHTCGoogleAndroid 2.3ThunderBolt
HTC Thunderbolt owners, here’s a piece of good news for you. Your LTE-enabled smartphone will get the Android 2.3.4 update on June 30th! And while that’s great news for itself, there’s more — aside from the latest flavor of Gingerbread, the software upgrade will also bring video calls, including GTalk and check this, Skype Video. Yep, we’ve been waiting this for quite some time now and had to rely on other apps like Tango to beam our ugly faces to the unlucky recipient on the other side of the line. No more, he or she will soon be able to “enjoy” the sight using the familiar Skype interface. That said, I do expect to lose a contact or two from my Skype list in the next few days, but hey – so...
