Way back in September of last year, Sprint released the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus S smartphone. Unfortunately, it was pulled shortly after launch because users were reporting a number of bugs with the update. This left Optimus S users confused and bewildered as to where their Android 2.3 Gingerbread update went. Well, here we are nearly seven months later, and Sprint says that it will relaunch the update starting on Wednesday of this week. Back last September, Sprint started rolling out the Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus S. But the update had to be halted when owners of the device started having some issues. Some owners were having problems recharging their phone or connecting to data. Other problems included the failure of predictive text to appear while typing on the virtual QWERTY, an incorrect message would appear stating that the microSD card is unmounted, and when connected to a PC, the device was unrecognized by Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7

Sprint recently started rolling out the Android 2.3 update for the LG Optimus S. While those with the phone were excited about the update, there have been many complaints from those with the LG Optimus S about problems that have popped up with the device since the new software was downloaded. As a result, Sprint has put a halt to the update and is looking to send out a fixed version of the OS to those whose phone is no longer working correctly.

When it was first released last fall, one of the nice things about owning the LG Optimus S was the fact that it came with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box – and in fact, it was one of the few at the time to sport that version. Fast forward to almost a year later, the handset is finally moving up to the next version of Android.
