T-Mobile gives HTC Sensation 4G users an Ice Cream Sandwich treat on May 16, Amaze 4G within weeks

Posted on May 16, 2012 by MG1

T-Mobile subscribers waiting on pins and needles for the day their HTC Sensation 4G or Amaze 4G will get its Android 4.0 update don't have to sit so uncomfortably for much longer: the carrier has just narrowed down the timetables considerably. The first wave of owners will get its Ice Cream Sandwich just desserts on May 16th, when Sensation 4G owners can push Android 4.0.3 to their dual-core 2011 flagships. Amaze 4G users have a looser timeframe of the "coming weeks" to dig in. Either circumstance will see HTC slap on Sense 3.6 like it has with other pre-2012 device updates, so don't expect a full One S-like Sense 4.0 experience. Do, however, expect to pay an extra $15 per month for hotspot ...

TMo is offering the Sensation 4G for free on a limited time offer that kicked off this week.
And here’s what you get for your zero dollars and a two-year contract tie: a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display, a capable 8-megapixel camera and connection to T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network.

The Taiwanese company is strangely quiet (for such a big news), so we keep listening to other people and their reactions. As far as we’ve understood, alongside Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC is also pushing updated version (3.6) of its Sense UI.

It is the end of January and this time every year, carriers' thoughts start turning to making room on the shelves for the new batch of handsets that are coming. With MWC less than a month away, and a new batch of the most-up-to date models about to be displayed, TmoNews has obtained a leaked screenshot of an internal T-Mobile document. The document shows some devices on Controlled Distribution with no plans to replenish depleted inventories of these phones. The half-dozen Android models include three models manufactured by HTC which might actually get a little more time considering that the carrier continues to advertise some of them. The remaining three LG models are ones that not too many ...

Qualcomm makes an awesome video of the HTC Sensation 4G powered by creepy crawlers

Qualcomm makes an awesome video of the HTC Sensation 4G powered by creepy crawlers

Posted on Oct 14, 2011 by MG1

To demonstrate the power-sipping nature of the third generation Snapdragon chipsets S3, as the one found in the HTC Sensation 4G, Qualcomm has hired some bugs to do their moves, while at the same time generating electricity to charge the handset.
Among spiders, praying mantises, scorpions and other assorted buggery, the dual-core 1.2GHz chipset gets running by the frantic movements in the so-called "Bug Circus Generator" and there is even energy left so the final result is a full battery charge to boot.
The footage is, of course, scripted with hours of preparation behind it, but it has great entertainment value for people who don't know much about mobile chipsets. For the S4 quad-core silico...

HTC Sensation and EVO 3D revealed to be spying on users

HTC Sensation and EVO 3D revealed to be spying on users

Posted on Sep 02, 2011 by MG1

First Apple, Google and Microsoft were accused of tracking user locations and now it appears HTC’s Sensation and EVO 3D smartphones are spying on their owners. According to user TrevE from InfectedROM, a recent Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update from HTC added a little something special to the source code of Carrier IQ (CIQ), an Android component. CIQ is not new; it is part of Android and used on most devices to send data back to carriers about your smartphone. However, the source code on the EVO 3D and Sensation reportedly now has a “User Behavior Logging” function that is capable of tracking how Sensation and EVO 3D owners use their smartphones in greater detail. Read on for more.

HTC gives bootloader unlocking to T-Mobile Sensation, more

Posted on Aug 30, 2011 by MG1

HTC has now added the T-Mobile Sensation 4G and a number of other handsets to its official bootlaoder unlocking program. Available online, the process lets some Android phone owners change the firmware of their handsets without special hacks. Currently supported are various models of the Sensation in different markets and the Evo 3D for Sprint.
There are some provisos, however, as the bootloader unlock isn't guaranteed to maintain the factory warranty. At the same time, the process doesn't remove carrier locks, and any official over-the-air update aren't guaranteed to work. There is also the possibility that Netflix and other apps that deliver secure content may not work as the copy protecti...

HTC to unlock bootloader for Sensation 4G, EVO 3D by September

Posted on Jul 12, 2011 by MG1

HTC took to its Facebook page last night to update fans on the status of the unlocked bootloaders that it promised, back in May, would be coming. According to the new info, a few of HTC's top-tier smartphones should be getting unlocked bootloaders as early as September.
HTC says that unlocking the bootloader on phones, which allows users to install custom operating system software and make other tweaks, is a complicated process and requires a lot of testing to make sure that the phones work properly after being updated with an unlocked bootloader.
