Just because it has no “Ericsson” in its name, that doesn’t mean Sony has forgot about its existing Sony Ericsson customers. Quite the contrary, the company is rolling out firmware updates for select devices wearing both names as we speak.
The select devices are Xperia arc and Xperia neo, which users have reportedly started receiving their servings of Ice Cream Sandwich. The phones will be updated to Android 4.0.4 and will remain on kernel 2.6.32.

Sony has announced its first Ice Cream Sandwich phone, and the follow up to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, in the form of the Sony Xperia Neo L.
Also known as the less fancy sounding MT25i, the Xperia Neo L will come packing a single-core 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of internal storage, 4-inch (854 x 480) display and a 5MP camera with 720p video recording.
So far Sony has released the Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U handsets, which we were disappointed to find all ran Android Gingerbread 2.3 – with a promise of an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later this year.

Sony's quartet of high-end Android smartphones including the Xperia arc, play, neo and pro might just have gotten updated to Android 2.3.3, but the engineers over at SE are already testing and working on delivering the latest version of Android Gingerbread, 2.3.4, according to an unspecified source quoted by SE-centric Semcblog.
