Nokia Lumia 710, the mid-range smartphone from Nokia just got a significant price cut in India few days before. Lumia 710 was introduced in India with the price of Rs.19,990 ( approx 400 USD) a month ago. Now Nokia Lumia 710 got a 20% price cut and its on sale for Rs. 15000 range (approx 300 USD). We are not sure about the reason behind the huge price drop of the device just a month after its launch but this will definitely ramp up the sales of the device. Nokia Windows Phone handsets coming to China in first half of 2012

Posted on Jan 23, 2012 by MG1

A Nokia spokesman has told ITWorld that the Finnish company is planning to release a Windows Phone handset for the Chinese market in the first half of 2012.
The announcement is significant, given that the Chinese market will likely require customizations for the region, including changes to Marketplace to comply with the Chinese Government requirements.
ZTE is also planning a Chinese release for a Windows Phone 7 handset, but this will only come in Q3 2012.
Nokia has a 28% market share in China, and if the product is accepted there it may significantly boost Windows Phone 7 shipments.

Posted on Jan 20, 2012 by MG1

Filed in: NOKIA

Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop appears to have indicated that the integration of Nokia’s map data with Bing Maps is due.
"Part of the relationship we established with Microsoft is that we are clearly placing a bet on the Windows Phone platform. [In return] they are placing a bet on our location-based platform: mapping, navigation and so forth," said Elop told Pocket-lint.
With the integration of Nokia’s mapping and navigation data with Bing will also come the Nokia branding.
"You’ll starting seeing the word ‘Nokia’ on a map that you get from Microsoft properties over a period of time," Elop explained to Pocket-lint in an interview at CES in Las Vegas. "Even if you are on a BlackBerry device, who r...

Nokia Lumia 800 gets two new software updates

Nokia Lumia 800 gets two new software updates

Posted on Jan 20, 2012 by MG1

Two software updates are being pushed out to owners of the Nokia Lumia 800. First, there’s a battery related software update that fixes issues that several Lumia 800 units have been experiencing. It’s the second part of a two part software update that Nokia promised they’d roll out back in late November. We’re impressed that Nokia actually managed to stick to their word and release these updates on time. As for the second software update, it’s related to Windows Phone. Microsoft recently announced Windows Phone 7.5 Mango build 8107 and it fixes some issues relating to syncing with Google’s email service, issues with the on screen keyboard disappearing at seemingly random times, and something...

Nokia's second Lumia 800 battery update is rolling out over the next two weeks, the company revealed today. The Finnish handset maker originally promised a second update to resolve some battery issues on its flagship Windows Phone, identified late last year. Some Lumia 800 owners complained that they were unable to access the full battery capacity of the device, and Nokia confirmed the problem in December after issuing an original software update to address separate charging issues.

Nokia pressured by mobile carriers to cut Lumia prices

Nokia pressured by mobile carriers to cut Lumia prices

Posted on Jan 19, 2012 by MG3

All the way over the pond in the UK there’s pressure being pushed down on Nokia to lower the price of the Lumia line, specifically the Lumia 710 which launches there in the next few weeks, as its first devices with Windows Phone have, perhaps, not performed as well as they’d liked. This could be seen as the exact opposite of what we’ve seen with Apple and their ultra high command over carriers working with the iPhone since its inception. Nokia has held more than a few discussions with UK operators on what it’ll do with the Lumia 710 as is launches in the market there, this perhaps reflecting what’s happened in the USA.

Nokia CEO: Android is too fragmented

Posted on Jan 19, 2012 by MG3

Stephen Elop has told Pocket-lint that he thinks Google's Android operating system is too fragmented, a pitfall he wants to avoid with Windows Phone 7 and Nokia in the future.
Talking to Pocket-lint at CES in Las Vegas, the Nokia CEO said:
"We don't want fragmentation being introduced into Windows Phone because we are beginning to see how in a certain other eco-system that fragmentation becomes a problem."

Nokia posts details on Nokia Lumia 800 firmware update

Nokia posts details on Nokia Lumia 800 firmware update

Posted on Jan 19, 2012 by MG1

The update will not be delivered to every Lumia 800 simultaneously, but rather will be staggered over the next two weeks through Microsoft’s standard update process. This helps each owner gets the update without any hitches. Around half of owners will get the update in the next seven days, with the remainder over the following seven days.
Your Nokia Lumia smartphone will automatically check for updates from time to time, and you’ll get a message on the phone when it is ready.
As previously, the update will be delivered using the Microsoft Zune software (or Windows Phone 7 Connector if you have a Mac).
Once you’ve received the update message, attach your phone to your computer using the USB c...

Nokia Lumia 710 Goes Free at Walmart on Contract

Posted on Jan 18, 2012 by MG3

The next time you're out battling the crowd at Wally World stocking up on toilet paper, cereal, and fish bait (hopefully for different purposes and not because of some weird fetish), you may decide to add a Windows Phone 7.5 device to your shopping cart. It's not exactly a tough sell when the mega retailer decides to give one away for free, like it's doing with Nokia's Lumia 710 smartphone.

Nokia Lumia 710 hitting UK on February 1st

Nokia Lumia 710 hitting UK on February 1st

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by MG15

While Nokia Lumia 800 has been available in the UK for some time now, its lower-end sibling Lumia 710 is yet to hit the stores across the country. Apparently, the wait will end soon with the Finnish company launching its entry-level Windows Phone device on February 1st. Orange and Three are on board to sell the new phone, though we’re sure third-party retailers will offer it on a number of plans from all (most) major carriers. The price is unknown at the moment, but it’s safe to bet you’ll be able to secure your unit for free on plans starting below 30 GBP per month. Unlocked, the device will probably sell for about 300 GBP, though we don’t have anything confirmed at this stage — it’s just m...

Rumor: Nokia Lumia 900 with 12 MP camera to hit other operators in Q3

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by MG15

Last week Nokia announced the Windows Phone Mango running Lumia 900 at CES. It’s the company’s first 4G LTE phone and the phone that they hope will make Americans take Nokia seriously again. AT&T will be the first to offer the device, with the rumored launch date being March 18th, but what about the other operators? According to Paul Thurrott’s SuperSite for Windows AT&T’s contract with Nokia gives them a 45 day exclusivity window. Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon are supposedly considering offering the Lumia 900 at some point in Q3 of this year. It’s not going to be the same Lumia 900 that AT&T is getting however, this updated model will pack a 12 megapixel camera. Now of course this is all ju...

Has the Nokia Lumia 900 caught your attention? If so, you are not alone. In fact, everybody seems to like Nokia's first LTE Windows Phone, and a number of people are probably thinking of grabbing one when it hits the shelves. There is one thing that was omitted during the Lumia 900's announcement, however, namely its release date. All that we were given was the rather vague “next few months” statement.
But now, thanks to a clue spotted inside of a Nokia Developer newsletter, we have a reason to believe that the Nokia Lumia 900 could be available for purchase no later than March of this year. The one who shared the discovery with the world clarifies that March 18 could be the smartphone's exa...
