Nokia's software update for its Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 handsets should start rolling out this month.
The upgrade should start to make its way to customers this week, wuth Nokia pushing it out from June 27, and it will bring a host of new features to the handsets.
Lumia owners may be feeling a little deflated after learning their devices will not get an upgrade to Windows Phone 8 – but Nokia has committed to Windows Phone 7.

Nokia Lumia 800 beats the Apple iPhone 4 in navigation test for official Nokia video

In an official Nokia video reminiscent of #SmokedByWindowsPhone, a Nokia Lumia 800 goes up against the Apple iPhone 4 in order to see which phone comes up with turn-by-turn directions faster to the London Eye. Using Nokia Drive, the Lumia is able to access the turn-by-turn directions in 15.24 seconds while the iPhone 4 user was still trying to access the information. And of course, this is a lopsided contest as without downloading a third party app, there will be no vocal directions or turn-by-turn navigation for the iPhone 4. With Nokia Drive, the Nokia Lumia 800 gives its user the choice between a male or female voice.

Minor Firmware Update for Nokia Lumia 800 not yet rolled out to end users; repairs audio volume bug

Nokia has created a minor firmware update for the Nokia Lumia 800. The only problem is that the update, 12072, has not yet been rolled out globally by the Finnish based manufacturer. The update repairs an audio volume bug that came about after the previous update, 12070, fixed a Power Management Issue. Software version 12072 also includes a new camera app with updated camera settings. The audio volume bug is said to make playing video games difficult while at the same time it messes up the ringtone on your Nokia Lumia 800. The bug makes your phone ring super loud, even from the first second that a call hits your device.

White Lumia 800 now available on Telstra, other Australian retailers

NokiaAustralia has announced on Twitter that the white Nokia Lumia 800 will not be available at a variety of Australian retailers, including Telstra. Till now only the Cyan and Black version has been available.
The Lumia handsets have just become available in Australia at the beginning of March and appears to be selling well, with several reports of stocks selling out.

Nokia’s first Windows Phone, the Lumia 800, started shipping almost four months ago. A small percentage of those who were the first to pick it up have had some issues with their battery. Either their device was burning through a full charge way too quickly, or worse yet they couldn’t even recharge their phone and had to replace it. In order to rectify the issue Nokia said they would ship two firmware updates, which they did, but some people still experienced issues. Today we’ve just learned that there’s a third firmware update being rolled out in Singapore, version 12070. For all you long suffering Nokia Lumia 800 owners out there, the end of the fast drain battery issue could be in sight, along with fixes for a number of other bugs as well.
The Lumia 800 was Nokia's first handset to sport the Windows Phone operating system after its huge deal with Microsoft. It certainly isn't a bad phone, as our Nokia Lumia 800 review found, but users have reported a number of bugs since its launch – with a lot focussing around the poor battery life.
MobileTechWorld has revealed that it's been testing the latest firmware upgrade for the Lumia 800, which addresses a number of issues including the fast battery drain.

A new build of the Nokia Lumia 800 firmware has shown up on NavirFirm with the build number 1600.2487.8107.12070.
The ROM seems to be intended for the Vodafone New Zealand Lumia 800, but seems to work well on other Lumias.
Initial assessment at XDA-Developers show improved battery drainage in idle mode, and an analysis of the ROM show 4 new camera modes:

Telus to launch Lumia 800 in Canada on March 2

Telus has confirmed that it is launching the Nokia Lumia 800 on March 2nd. You’ll be able to choose between black, cyan and magenta versions, though no prices are given yet. With the Lumia 900 slated to be released on Rogers sometime in Q2, Canadians will soon be able to choose between two great Nokia Windows Phones.

Nokia Lumia 800 a best seller at Orange Austria

Either Orange Austria is pushing the handset pretty hard, or the Nokia Lumia 800 is performing well on their network, but it appears the carrier has crowned the handset one of its best sellers.
The smartphone was launched in Austria at the end of 2011 and became available early in January.

Nokia has announced the pricing and availability of its Lumia 710 and 800 Windows Phone 7 handsets in Australia.
Nokia managing director for Australia and New Zealand Chris Carr said the Lumia 710 would sell in Australia from March for $379 outright, alongside the Lumia 800 which will retail unlocked for $699.
The Lumia 800 will be available through all 3 major Australia carriers (Telstra, Optus and Vodafone) while the 710 will sell through Optus and Virgin Mobile, as well as retail outlets.

Nokia unveils the white Lumia 800

Nokia used its Conversations blog to unveil the new white Lumia 800. Under the hood, the handset is identical to the cyan, magenta and black version which launched late last year. On the surface, you will get a snowy white casing that nicely accents the curved black display. According to Nokia, this isn’t some cheap spray-on job either. Instead, the phone’s unibody polycarbonate shell is dyed all the way through. Judging from the images release by Nokia, those who prefer blanc to black will be wowed by this handset.

Nokia Lumia 800 sells out in Ireland

After going on sale on the 1st February 2012 exclusive on Vodafone Ireland, the Nokia Lumia 800 is now officially out of stock on the network.
While the event is not as indicative of strong demand as if it sold out in the first few days, it does mean that there is not a huge inventory of Nokia Lumia 800s hanging around, and should be good news for Nokia’s Q1 2012 numbers.

Test shows Nokia’s included USB power adaptor charges Lumia 800 twice as fast as generic ones

WeLoveWP.hk have been running some battery charging tests on the Nokia Lumia 800, which post firmware fix should have a battery that is charging at full capacity, unlike earlier, trying to find the best way to optimally charge the device.

Telstra puts up a page to allow users to register interest in the Nokia Lumia 800

If you are Australian and have been waiting breathlessly for the Nokia Lumia 800 to arrive there, you can now register with Telstra to be informed as soon as official news of its release becomes available.
Telstra has said on their facebook page that they will be one of the first countries to get the 850 Mhz band Lumia 800 handsets, but had nothing to say “yet” about the Nokia Lumia 900, hopefully meaning that a future release is not ruled out.
