Remember the Nokia Lumia 900 that was unveiled over in Vegas at CES? Sure you do. You probably also know Nokia has yet to announce the launch of the LTE packing handset outside of the States, despite Carphone Warehouse suggesting it could land in June.
But it could be that us Europeans get a slightly different model - perhaps the Nokia Lumia 910, as detailed on a Dutch retail site.
Originally, the handset was listed with a note saying it was coming soon, although this has been updated now to say that Nokia have yet to come clean with the details.

Microsoft and Nokia ran a contest at the beginning of this year, offering a total of 500 Nokia Lumia 800′s for submitting a Mango app to the Marketplace. The first 500 developers to publish a Mango-enabled app which met the Metro design criteria and used fast app switching were the lucky winners of this contest.
Apparently the handsets are now being distributed to qualifying developers, with this email below going out to some:

Nokia Belle update ready for download on February 8th?

Filed in: Cell PhonesNOKIA

Even in the midst of a big push to bring its Windows Phone 7 devices to the USA, Nokia hasn't forgotten its Symbian roots. It seems that "Belle," the company's update to Symbian Anna, will be available from February 8th, which is in line with its previous estimate of February. The news came this weekend via Nokia's Vietnamese website, although the page has since been taken offline. The update is apparently unsuitable for OTA download due to its large size, and so will be available through Nokia Suite on the PC, to be pushed to devices via USB.
Nokia has also revealed via Twitter that the N8, C7, and other devices are now shipping with Belle preinstalled in some regions. The new software will...

Microsoft paid Nokia $250 million to use Windows Phone

Microsoft paid Nokia $250 million to use Windows Phone

Nokia just posted its hugely anticipated Holiday quarter results and summed up its financials for 2011. Not surprisingly, the company posted a huge loss of nearly $1.4 billion (1.07 billion euro), but what’s even more interesting - Nokia is getting paid by Microsoft to make Windows Phones.
Nokia received a $250 million “platform support payment” from Microsoft, just because it is making Windows Phone devices. Nokia also notes that this is the first from a series of payments from Redmond, but it seems that Microsoft has to up that sum to make up for Nokia’s huge loss.

Nokia shakes up Board of Directors after mixed quarter, difficult year

Nokia shakes up Board of Directors after mixed quarter, difficult year

Posted on Jan 27, 2012 by MG1

Filed in: NOKIA

Nokia’s Q4 numbers came out this morning, and they’re a mixed bag, although the bad outweighs the good. More important Nokia has had a terrible year – one that was worse than the already bad numbers they projected at the beginning of 2011. To a large degree that can be attributed to poor management – they announced that Symbian was on an end of life schedule several quarters before they had a replacement line ready, leading to a crash in market share. When the Meego-powered N9 proved popular with reviewers, Nokia intentionally restricted its market reach so it wouldn’t compete with their WP7 products.
Even the adoption of Windows Phone – which makes some strategic sense, especially given the...

Following on from today's mixed bag of Nokia financials, the Espoo-based company will see some changes on its directorial board, after its Annual General Meeting in a few months. As forecast last year, non-executive chairman Jorma Ollila joined Nokia in 1985 and has been on the board through Nokia's explosive growth into the world's biggest handset manufacturer -- and its more recent troubles. He will leave the board alongside more recent members Bengt Holmström and Per Karlsson, while existing board member Risto Siilasmaa is currently pegged to take the helm once the new board of directors is formed. New candidates earmarked for the board include Bruce Brown, of Procter and Gamble, Mårten M...

Nokia Lumia 900 to hit AT&T March 18th for $99?

Nokia Lumia 900 to hit AT&T March 18th for $99?

Posted on Jan 26, 2012 by MG1

A source speaking to BGR confirmed the March 18th launch date we reported for Nokia’s Lumia 900. The 4.3” WP7 handset will make its debut on AT&T, although the date may not be set in stone; apparently the Lumia 900 is still working to get final technical approval.
More exciting is the reported price: Consumers purchasing the phone with a two year contract will get it for a less than a Benjamin. Before sales tax anyhow. Still, a $99 price point is very aggressive, so clearly Microsoft and Nokia are coming to play this spring. This price positioning reflects the important that Microsoft and Nokia place on the U.S. market for the future of Windows Phone.

Nokia announces 1.5 billion S40 handset sales on eve of earnings call

Nokia announces 1.5 billion S40 handset sales on eve of earnings call

Posted on Jan 26, 2012 by MG3

Filed in: Cell PhonesNOKIA

Nokia chose today to announce the 1.5 billionth sale of a handset running the company's Series 40 operating system — the day after Apple announced its own staggering numbers and a day before Nokia's full-year earnings are due. That compares to about 183 million iPhones sold since its launch in 2007. First introduced on the Nokia 7110 in 1999, S40 is the less famous but ubiquitous sidekick to the Windows Phone OS Nokia adopted for its smartphone platform earlier this year. The 1.5 billion number is a good measure of Nokia's reach given that there are only about seven billion people on the planet, three billion of whom still don't have mobiles phones according to Nokia's estimates (and hopes).

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has fined Nokia for sending spam-filled text messages to its customers. Nokia had been sending messages with tips on how customers could take advantage of their phones’ features, Reuters said Tuesday, but the government agreed Nokia should allow its customers to opt out of receiving the messages. ”Some businesses are still not getting SMS marketing right,” Australian Communications and Media Authority chairman Richard Bean told Reuters. “The same rules apply to SMS marketing as for email marketing, and the same rules apply to all businesses, big and small.”
