Nokia president and head of North American operations, Chris Weber (no, not the former NBA star) has laid down the gauntlet. In an interview yesterday, the Nokia executive said that Windows Phone 7 makes iOS and Android look outdated. Weber says the big difference between the platforms is that while iOS and Android are built around apps, Windows Phone 7 is built around a user's contacts making things easier and quicker with some functions requiring fewer steps.

Adobe Flash Player for Android updated with security fixes and enhancements

Adobe has updated its Flash player for Android to version 10.3.186.3, which is said to fix a number of security issues while also providing several feature enhancements for certain phones and websites.

AT&T HTC Inspire 4G Gingerbread update now available

HTC began pushing out the Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) update to the AT&T HTC Inspire 4G on Monday. Customers will receive notifications to update over-the-air or they can manually initiate the installation process by navigating to Home > Menu > Settings > AT&T Software Update > HTC Wi-Fi software update > Check now. The patch also includes an updated Sense application tray, new FriendStream features, fixes for minor bugs and an updated Quick Settings menu in the notifications shade. HTC says Inspire 4G users should notice an improved media experience and better power management as well.

Samsung Galaxy S II users in Brazil and Poland get Android 2.3.4 update

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 2.3.4 update for its super-popular Galaxy S II smartphone. The first two countries to get it are Poland and Brazil where the XXKG5 and UHKG7 updates are available on Kies for users using the device with Polish (XEO) and Brazilian (TTT) CSC respectively.
We’ve no idea what’s all included with this release but can guess some of the known bugs will be fixed, some other things improved, few apps updated, while also the overall stability of the smartphone has been increased . The HTC ThunderBolt was the first 4G-enabled smartphone on Verizon's speedy LTE network, but since its launch not much has changed with its software – the handset continues to run on the quickly aging Android 2.2 Froyo, even though back in March HTC spilled the beans about an upcoming Gingerbread update. Well, four months later, it's still coming, but this time we have a particular time period for it – the third quarter of the year.

Cellular South Gets Some Gingerbread Via the Samsung Admire

Cellular South recently revealed information about a new Android handset from Samsung called the Admire. This monoblock device includes Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 3.5-inch touch display with 320 x 480 pixels, a 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm headset jack. It also includes a microSD port for cards up to 32GB. Cellular South has yet to reveal pricing and availability for the Samsung Admire.

If you are among the bunch of people still holding on to their trusty HTC Desire, you might not like the news that we have to share with you. It looks like the smartphone will not be treated to Gingerbread after all, or at least not in the form of a full-fledged update that HTC was expected to release by the end of July.
Technically, an official Gingerbread ROM for the HTC Desire will be available for download, yet it will not be pushed out to the general public due to a number of issues that the HTC developer team simply couldn't hurdle. First off, if you own the North American variant of this handset then you're out of luck. Likewise, Japanese, South Korean and some German handsets are also excluded. Still here? Okay then, but you might not like what comes next. We already knew that either the Sense UI or some pre-installed apps would be cleared out to make room in the Gingerbread house, but now it seems the update is so unstable that HTC is only prepared to release it as a ROM via its developer site. That means a factory reset of your device, a bunch of worries about SMS and MMS not working properly, and a cold disclaimer in the event of things going wrong. Hot on the heels of rumors that Kyocera's Echo would see its first major Android update on August 1st, in flies an updated page over at the company's own website detailing the impending changes. As expected, Samsung has started rolling out Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates for the Galaxy Tab in the UK. We’re not sure whether everyone can get it at the moment, but as far as we know, it requires Samsung’s Kies software for the update process to take place. That said, it’s safe to bet over-the-air updates will follow shortly.
You’re most likely already familiar with all the software changes included in Gingerbread; they are worth repeating, nonetheless. Among the things you should expect are improved power management capabilities, better Copy/Paste, support for SIP-based VoIP calls, downloads management and so on.

T-Mobile G2 owners have been waiting months for this day to come, as the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the smartphone has begun rolling out to customers.
Since the G2 runs a relatively bare version of Android, without any custom interfaces, the Android 2.3 update brings the standard upgrades and not much else. Users can expect to see improved copy and paste features, a better on-screen keyboard, a refreshed user interface, and improvements to Wi-Fi calling.

Budget MSI Android 2.3 tablet floats through FCC

MSI is readying its very low-cost Enjoy 10 Android 2.3 tablet for the US with an appearance in an FCC filing on Friday. Only labeled as MS-N0Y1 in the manual, the device has a 10-inch screen with a lower 480x800 resolution and a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 for a processor. The slate would have 512MB of RAM and lean on a full-size SD card slot for much of its storage.
Only Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide wireless.
Very little is known about if or when the Enjoy 10 would ship to the US, and if so what it would cost. Such modest specs could keep the design at or under $300 given that even ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer costs $400. MSI also has an Enjoy 7 but hasn't indicated whether or not it would reach the US.
