Corning Gorilla Glass 2 detailed
Like UnlikeCorning has come correct this week with their second big iteration of the glass that’s almost certainly on the front of your smartphone if you purchased a device inside 2011 – Gorilla Glass 2 they call it, and details have been dropped. What you’ll be getting here, basically, is a 20 percent reduction in necessary glass thickness with the same resistance to damage that made Corning’s solution so popular through the last year. It’s “higher functionality from thinner designs” all around this year, and Tough is still Beautiful!

It's been said that Apple has managed to "steal" every CES for the past five years, and without a doubt, it all started on January 9th, 2007. In a day that'll live on in Engadget lore as being one of the zaniest, most overwhelming 24 hours in our history, we can fondly recall shipping Ryan Block a few hours northwest from the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center to the MacWorld Expo to cover what would go down as one of Apple's most memorable keynotes. What happened after that is evident to just about anyone who has even heard of a mobile phone, with Apple's singular smartphone (yes, the iPhone) going on to but pressure on the likes of Microsoft, RIM and even Google. In fact, we're wonde...

GE upgrades camera line, launches X600 with 25x zoom for $199.99

GE's cameras got a top-to-bottom refresh today at CES 2012, with upgrades across its entire lineup of inexpensive point-and-shoot models. The new X600 has 25x optical zoom, and its DSLR-sized body also holds a 14.4-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 2.7-inch LCD, and 1080p video recording capability. There's some new HDR functionality as well, supporting up to six frames that get combined into one flawless (or awesomely bizarre) image. The best feature, though, as with all GE cameras, is its price: $199.99 is pretty hard to beat for such huge zoom. GE's other new cameras — the X550, G100, E1410SW, and C1440W — also received solid incremental upgrades, and none cost more than $159.99. GE's probably not...

Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsVIZIOVTAB3010
Vizio has revealed a new tablet at CES 2012, a 10-inch slate with squared-off good looks and the promise of no small amount of power. Details on the Vizio VTAB3010 are still scant, beyond the screen size and the fact that it has WiFi, but we do know that it has front and rear cameras – the latter packing a flash, too.
On the bottom there are two ports, which look to be microUSB and microHDMI, but otherwise the design is clean and clear. No physical controls are visible, though we’re assuming there’ll be at least a power button on either the top or side edges, along with a headphone socket and – most likely – volume controls too.
