In its current state, Samsung’s recently available Unpackedapp for Android is pretty much useless right now except for the notion that it teases us with the potential of getting live news and updates when the company kicks off their event at the IFA trade show.
However, one person managed to do some snooping around and uncovered a trio of new logos residing within the Samsung Mobile Unpacked APK. In fact, we’re greeted to three very distinctive devices – the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, Samsung Wave 3, and the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Dutch judge says Apple's "slide-to-unlock" patent is likely invalid

Just one day after ordering a preliminary injunction blocking the sale of multiple Samsung smartphones, a Dutch judge has said that at least one patent Apple is suing the South Korean company over is probably invalid. The judge ruled on Wednesday that Samsung’s GALAXY S II, GALAXY S and GALAXY Ace smartphones infringe on Apple patents. Regarding one of the patents Apple claims Samsung is infringing, however, FOSS Patents reveals that the judge is not sold on its validity, calling the patent — which covers the “slide-to-unlock” feature on Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod touch — “obvious.” What’s more, Swedish phone manufacturer Neonode released a Windows CE phone in Europe that featured a slide...

Samsung Announces S24A650D and S27A650D HD Monitors Coming Soon

Samsung has announced today two new LED HD Monitors that have been equipped with the new PVA display panel. The S24A650D and the S27A650D measure 24 and 27 inches, respectively and both feature full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. The PVA display panels are Samsung’s own design of the more common LCD panels. These two displays also come with LED back lighting in order to reduce thickness and energy consumption. Unfortunately the company did not announce any additional features at this time. Samsung plans to release both displays by the end of August. The S24A650D is expected to retail for 319 Euro ($458), while the S27A650D will be priced at 399 Euro ($573).

This naming system is supposed to break down with each phone having its own letter distinguishing what class it falls under. Netherlands judge rules that Samsung Galaxy S, S II violate Apple patents, bans sales

A judge in The Hague just issued a ruling in Apple's patent infringement case against Samsung, prohibiting "the marketing of Samsung smartphones Galaxy S, S II and Ace for violation of Apple Inc. EP 2,058,868." In an official press release, the court explains that The Hague judge ruled to "ban trading of Samsung smartphones Galaxy S, S II and Ace," adding that Samsung also violated other Apple patents with its Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 10.1v, though it's not clear whether or not sales of those devices will be banned as well.

Samsung to Release LED Monitors with Super PLS technology

Samsung released three models of new LED monitor (S27A850, S24A650 and S24A350T) applying cutting-edge Super PLS (Plane to Line Switching) technology — which makes it possible for a viewer to watch in much wider viewing angles than models in the market.
The new LED monitors employed LED panels thus realizing Samsung TV’s iconic features like vivid resolution and eco-friendliness. This monitor line-up is said to be best fitting for professional users. The SyncMaster SA850, for example, is a 27-inch monitor, has a screen aspect ratio of 16:9 and a native resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.

Samsung ramped up the launch of four new smartphones under a previously hinted new naming scheme. The Galaxy W hits the new mid-range and runs on a 1.4GHz, single-core chip with a 3.7-inch display. It still as much of the modern TouchWiz interface on top of Android 2.3 and supports up to 14.4Mbps HSPA for reasonably fast 3G.

Tablet Computer Spotted in 1968 Kubrick Classic, Cited in Samsung Case

It appears that the very first place one might see a tablet computer in action, at least one looking so minimalistic as an iPad, is in the 1968 film “2001: A Space Odyssey” by Stanley Kubrick. This movie features at least one scene in which a couple of tablets are used to compute while breakfast is being consumed by their users. What this particular scene is being used for at this very moment is so-called evidence that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet design does not use the iPad 2 for inspiration, that instead a single screen with little border surrounding it used for computing has been a common design for a “tablet” computer for quite some time.

LG, Samsung and Sharp will provide Retina displays for Apple’s iPad 3, DigiTimes reported on Tuesday. In mid-July, rumors surfaced that Apple was testing Retina displays from Samsung and LG, and those rumors were confirmed days later when LG’s CEO said Apple will use its Retina LCDs in its next-generation iPad. Apple is also reportedly considering an investment of as much as $1 billion in a new Sharp factory that will be used to provide screens for its iPhone and iPad products. LG will be the largest iPad 3 LCD supplier followed by Samsung, although DigiTimes said Sharp could soon surpass the South Korea-based company as Apple’s second largest iPad 3 panel provider.

We have received photos from a trusted source that show what could be AT&T’s first LTE smartphone, the Samsung Impulse 4G. We don’t have too many details to go on beyond the photo you see above along with an image of a case accessory that maps out the back of the device, but the Impulse 4G does look awfully like the Samsung DROID Charge, and this might be AT&T’s equivalent.
