Apple, Samsung smartphones and tablets dissected by Technicolor
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesTabletsSamsungApple
Technicolor, the iconic French company that invented the process that enables color movies, is looking for large patent payoffs from major mobile vendors, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. The company holds more than 40,000 video, audio and optics patents, and reportedly employs a team of 220 people who dissect every new smartphone and tablet from vendors such as Apple, Samsung and HTC. The team is responsible for locating patent infringements within each device. “We usually send manufacturers a big file, with photos of the guts of their products, pointing to where they’ve been using our technology without paying for it,” said Beatrix de Russe, a lawyer and executive vice president of intellect...

Samsung Galaxy One Concept Design
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsung
Many manufacturers have already looked into integrating projectors into cell phone. But not a lot have talked about integrating one into a tablet. Today, Samsung unveiled their concept for the Galaxy One. This tablet runs Windows 8 and uses a variable-angle projector that can be used with the tablet being held in different positions. The tablet will include two mini stands that will tilt the tablet to a 10 degree angle. This will allow the user to place the device on a table and have the image be in the right location on the screen. Unfortunately, the concept designer did not release any specs about resolution or brightness, but there are many who would like to see Samsung actually build thi...

Google Nexus tablet tipped in Samsung codes
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGoogle
There’s a whole new wave of evidence this week being revealed by none other than Google that points toward them working with Samsung on the next Android Nexus tablet. A Nexus device, for those of you that do not know, is a device that works with Google’s Android in its most basic “vanilla” iteration, and with the evidence we’re seeing today, we may be looking at a Samsung tablet released this summer as the next step. This next Nexus tablet will be the first tablet actually branded as “Nexus” but will be the second released in close collaboration with Google made to show off the next big version of Android, the first being the Motorola XOOM tablet which showed off Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

Apple jabs new Samsung Tab in Germany
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungAppleGALAXY Tab 2 (7.0)Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
It appears that Apple is not satisfied with the changes Samsung has made to its Galaxy Tab line over in Germany this month as the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, modified from the 10.1 with no N, still infringes on the iPad’s form and purpose – so they say. This same claim for the original Galaxy Tab has already taken hold in some other parts of the world and Apple has indeed succeeding in banning the 10.1 version of Samsung’s tablet line for brief periods of time in the past – this time though, it’s after Samsung took steps to avoid such a suit specifically. Will the Tab 10.1N, with its front-facing speakers and all, be able to avoid the Apple hammer in Deutschland?

Samsung reportedly halts Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) production to add quad-core CPU
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGalaxy Tab 2 10.1
When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it wasn’t the high-definition tablet we’re still waiting for the manufacturer to announce. In fact, it was nearly identical to the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, but that may change ahead of the tablet’s launch. NetBookNews on Wednesday cited a Korean Samsung insider who claims the company has halted production of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 so that it can be upgraded with a quad-core processor. Pre-sales were originally scheduled for May 4th and the device was supposed to launch on May 13th for $399.99, but it is unclear if these dates will be pushed back. Earlier reports suggested the Galaxy Note 10.1 has also been del...

The 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 tablet is currently listed on the QVC web store and is priced at $309.96. The model in question is the most basic one with 8 gigabytes of storage and no cellular connectivity.
Interestingly, this does not seem to be a pre-order page. It appears that the device can be purchased and should be shipped to your doorstep within several days. Samsung on Tuesday confirmed that its 7-inch and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 tablets have been delayed and will now start shipping to the U.K at the end of the month, ComputerWorld reports. When the Android 4.0 slates were announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress, the company said both devices would arrive in U.K. stores in March ahead of a global rollout. According to a Samsung spokesman, complications with Ice Cream Sandwich caused the delay is due to Ice Cream Sandwich, which both Samsung and Google need more time to work on. This isn’t the first time Samsung has run into problems with Android 4.0. Last month the manufacturer delayed its original upgrade plan for the Galaxy Note from the...

Samsung’s second coming of the original Galaxy Tab, ya’ know the 7-inch model, is at the FCC where government paid engineers are having a time of their life playing with it. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 arriving exclusively on Verizon Wireless on March 1st
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGalaxy Tab 7.7
Verizon Wireless has just announced that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 will land exclusively on the carrier on March 1st. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a 7.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb. What might set you back though is the price - the Tab 7.7 costs $499 on a two-year contract. This means that you’ll be tied to paying a minimum of $30 for 2 gigs of untethered Verizon LTE data.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7’s screen comes with a neat resolution of 1280x800 pixels, which results in excellent picture density for its size. It also features a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, and two cameras: a 3.2-megapixel front one recording 720p video and a 2-megapixel one on the back.
