Last night, it seems that word had slipped out that the Android 4.0 update was available for the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S II via Kies. Unfortunately, it turned out that the update was available only for a limited time. For those unfamiliar with the process, Kies allows users to connect their Samsung-made device with a PC or Mac using a USB cable. One use of Kies is to install software updates such as Android 4.0 as an alternative to an OTA update.

It may be late in the evening here in the States, but for T-Mobile users, your time in the sun has finally arrived -- Android 4.0.3 is now available via Samsung Kies for the Galaxy S II. According to the carrier, the update won't be made available via an OTA download, which means that if you don't have a PC, you'd best shake down a friend at this late hour -- or, at least give 'em a call in the morning. Google and Samsung on Tuesday announced a new Chromebook and Chromebox computer. Both machines are powered by Google’s cloud-based Chrome OS and are built for speed. Samsung’s newest Chromebook, the Series 5 550, features a 12.1-inch display, an Intel Core processor, 4GB of RAM, an HD Camera, two USB 2.0 ports and six hours of continuous battery life. Verizon finally updated its website with information about the IMM76K Android 4.0.4 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The long-awaited update has been approved by Verizon and should hit Nexus handsets in the next few days. The update will be delivered over the air and a notification will alert Nexus owners when it is ready.

Back when it was unveiled at IFA 2011, Sammy's famed phablet was more of an attractive oddity than sure hit. Skip to now, and that 5.3-incher's not only taken the European continent by storm, it's also made inroads onto these American shores via AT&T. In keeping with the open source embrace begun last October, the OEM's once again offering up the device's kernel code, this time for the skinned ICS OS unlocked versions currently run. Samsung's Focus 2, the company's first Windows Phone with 4G LTE connectivity, is now available from AT&T for $49.99 with a new two-year contract. The Focus 2 has the same 4-inch, WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) Super AMOLED display and 5 megapixel camera as the original Focus released in 2010, but it does sport a faster, 1.4GHz processor and Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. The Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung GALAXY Note was moved to this quarter, which almost half gone, so it shouldn't be too much of a wait for those impatient Note owners who want the latest and greatest Android 4.0 on their device.
In fact, that AT&T version of the Note has been recorded on video at CTIA running Ice Cream Sandwich with a whiff of TouchWiz applied over it. Even if you didn't see the firmware version, some other telling signs, like the presence of a quick access to Settings in the drop-down notifiction window suggest Android ICS is onboard.

Samsung has posted a list of the smartphones and tablets available in the U.S. that it plans to upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at some point this year. Most of the phones on the list have already been promised upgrades to Android 4.0 by their carriers, but it never hurts to have further confirmation from the manufacturer. Still missing from the upgrade list? Any variant of the original Galaxy S, though, that's not entirely unexpected.

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II getting Android 4.0 update

After reaching overseas versions of the Samsung Galaxy S II, the official Android 4.0 update is now reaching US versions of the unlocked device. The 216.6MB over-the-air update is gradually being released to handsets, though users can go and check for its availability by going into the Settings menu.
Like in the last update for the overseas handsets, TouchWiz is retained and the Android 4.0 UI is relatively invisible. Users will get Face Unlock, however, and support for newer apps including Chrome for Android and other, less visible upgrades.

A functional Android Ice Cream Sandwich build for the one and only Samsung Galaxy Note has leaked on the Internets, and it even comes as a trendy one-click installer Odin file.
Don't expect the Premium Suite with this leak, just Android 4.0 covered in a layer of TouchWiz, but it should be good to play around with until the official thing hits this quarter. Your internal memory gets wiped during install, so make sure you move the stuff out temporarily while updating.
