Samsung Celox gets its moment in the blurrycam spotlight
Like UnlikeFiled in: Samsung
Hey, what have we here? If it isn't the GT-I9210, a version of the Samsung Celox that we saw the other week. The Samsung Galaxy II-esque LTE handset got the blurrycam treatment on its way to Korean carrier SK Telecom. The rear of the device looks the same as what we saw earlier in the month, only with the carrier's logo tacked on for good measure. The front, on the other hand, has been redesigned and is now sporting four capacitive keys -- not an unusual move for a carrier branded version of one of the company's smartphones. In light of SK Telecom and Verizon's use of both LTE and CDMA, perhaps the Celox will join T-Mobile's rumored Hercules as the other 4.5-inch screened Galaxy S II variant...

Apple allegedly doctored evidence in patent case against Samsung
Like UnlikeFiled in: SamsungApple
Apple has managed to block sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia and in the European Union, but new evidence from Computerworld’s Dutch sister site Webwereld.nl suggests the iPad maker may be tampering with evidence. According to the report, Apple is using an image of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that is purposely distorted to look more like the iPad. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is presented with an aspect ratio of 1.36 (the proportions of the device itself, not the display) while the iPad is shown with a 1.30 aspect ratio. However, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet itself actually has a 1.46 aspect ratio. “This is a blunder,” Klos Morel Vos & Schaap lawyer Arnout Groen told Webwereld.nl. “That such a ‘...

Samsung to appeal EU Galaxy Tab 10.1 ban on August 25th
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungGALAXY Tab 10.1
Samsung will appeal a recent ruling by The Regional Court of Düsseldorf in Germany that bars the South Korean tablet maker from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 device in the whole of the European Union except for the Netherlands, The Wall Street Journal said on Friday. The appeal court date is set for August 25th. Samsung could face fines of up to $350,000 per unit if it continues to sell the device in the European Union. On August 1st, Apple also blocked Samsung from selling its tablet in Australia until courts rule whether or not the device infringes on 10 of Apple’s patents. Apple has a similar case open in the United States in which it has accused Samsung of creating copycat devices of its i...

Samsung's legal defense against Apple includes wisecracks, the LG Prada, and a 1994 tablet newspaper concept
Like UnlikeFiled in: SamsungApple
During the two-day hearing in a Dutch court regarding the pan-European Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales ban, which only excluded the Netherlands, Samsung's lawyers managed to achieve a stalemate, since it has filed a counter-case against Apple in the country for violating some 3G patents. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet will be selling freely there until at least October 13th, even if an injunction takes place on September 15th, as outlined in the statement below:

Galaxy S2 Release is on August 29, Confirmed.
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S II
Earier today we reported that the Galaxy S2 is not launching today as was rumored. Just now Samsung Mobile sent us an invite to a media event on August 29 in New York. The invite is not revealing much, but it has a "II" on it. The II clearly hints to the Samsung Galaxy S2 and since the invite is from Samsung Mobile it is almost sure that the 29 marks the launch of the Galaxy S2 in the US. Now I just saw that the image of the invite flyer has actually "Galaxy_S_II" in the file name. So there is no doubt that the Galaxy S2 will be released on August 29.

Tweet from AT&T says Samsung Infuse 4G to get fed Gingerbread this month
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungInfuse 4G
Just because the Samsung Infuse 4G gives you a gigantic 4.5 inch display doesn't mean that the OS aboard is the latest, most up-to-date offering from Google. After all, users of the device have had to live like cavemen with Froyo installed on their phone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's good for getting Adobe Flash and all, but it is not the latest and greatest build of Google's open source OS. You can imagine the suffering.

While the smartphone is everybody's darling, T-Mobile and Samsung are hoping the Samsung Gravity TXT might garner some love, too. This landscape QWERTY slide features a 2.4-inch display, 2 megapixel camera, and Social Buzz -- via a dedicated key -- which integrates all your social sites into one app. The pic above seems to have the new feature phone shipping August 24th at $139.99 off-contract or $39.99 if two-year contractual obligations are more your thing.

End of July we carried a rumor saying that Verizon will launch the SamsungS2 today, August 12. August 12 is still young, but I do not expect Verizon to announce anything today about the S2. If the sale of the highly anticipated Galaxy S2 would to be started today, Verizon would have announced that earlier this week.

Samsung roadmap shows phone with 720p screen, Ice Cream
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsung
An uncommon Lithuanian leak of a Samsung roadmap for the latter part of 2011 may have given out plans for a handful of future, very advanced phones. The i9250 seen by Mobili Linija would be Samsung's first-ever phone using Ice Cream Sandwich (possibly Android 4.0) and would have a larger screen to match, carrying a 4.65-inch display with an unprecedented 1280x720 (720p) resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S Plus packs beefier hardware inside the shell of the original model
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsung
There is absolutely no hiding the fact that Samsung is making the Galaxy S II its number one priority right now, however, you just can’t help it to step back for a moment and see how the original model paved the way for it. Sure it’s over a year old and its specs are regarded to be as mid-range by now, but nevertheless, there are always different ways to bring the spotlight back to it.
