I’m here to tell you that the current top choices for these Motorola-made smartphones aren’t necessarily your best choice for Android or 4G-laden devices – in fact they’re not even really your best choice for Motorola-made devices on Verizon. Verizon Tempts Employees With Limited Edition Droid RAZRs

A life spent caught up in the drudgery of retail is usually pretty free of frills, but Verizon Wireless employees may soon be getting a shot at some swanky hardware if some newly-leaked images hold true. According to Android And Me, Verizon has reached out to their employees with an offer they may not be able to refuse: limited edition Droid RAZRs and Droid RAZR MAXXs.
And what’s so limited about these edition then? The employee-only Droid RAZR sports a red and black finish on its backside rather than the monochrome stylings of its more mundane brethren, along with the device’s number within the production run.

Looky what we have here – a brand new HTC Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone! What's that model we're dealing with here? Well, you might be surprised, but we actually don't have a clue. We were recently approached by a tipster of ours who was generous enough to share these pics with us. Thanks to the photos, we can learn quite a bit about this mysterious handset, but unfortunately, we can't be sure how it's going to be called, or what carriers it may end up on. However, some of our observant readers have noted that the 4G LTE logo that's visible during the loading screen is the one that Verizon uses for its handsets, so that's a pretty good guess as to where the phone may end up.

Verizon's double data deal returns this Friday, prepare yourselves accordingly

It looks like Verizon's about to double up on double data. According to the Los Angeles Times, Big Red is about to reintroduce the double data promotion that first rolled out in November, and came to a close at year's end. Under the offer, customers signing up for a 4G plan will receive double the amount of monthly data (at no extra charge) for the duration of their contracts, as long as they sign up for two-year deals. Unfortunately, though, the promotion only applies to first time 4G subscribers (or those looking to upgrade from a non-4G plan), and is restricted to smartphones, leaving tablet owners in the dark. Thinking about signing up with Verizon Wireless? If so, you may want to hold off a few days before inking a two-year service agreement with Big Red. Word on the Web is that Verizon is resurrecting its double data promotion for 4G LTE smartphones, which means instead of being allotted a rather snug 2GB data cap for $30/month, you'd be given room to breathe in a 4GB cap for the same monthly fee.

We've been speculating that Verizon's latest Droid would be arriving on February 10th, but we lacked any official word from the carrier to back it up. Verizon and Redbox team up to launch streaming and physical media service later this year

It once was a rumor but now it's real: Verizon and Redbox are joining forces on what is said to be the "best of both worlds" -- a service that will offer both physical media and streaming content for subscribers. Details are slim at this point but the supposed "Project Zoetrope" will offer DVD and Blu-ray media in addition to on-demand streaming plus downloadable content. Apple will launch its own HDTV called the “iTV,” analyst Peter Misek of Jefferies & Company said on Monday. Verizon to begin training employees about family share data plans

Verizon is looking to change its family share data plans for 2012, according to a leaked document. We’ve heard about this before and we hope it’s true.
In the new document, Big Red is said to be leaving training material for an update that shows a new section labeled “account level data plans.” The largest wireless provider in the United States is working on a change in the shared account that’ll charge for data allowance and a 9.99 charge per line.
This leak suggest that there may be a new family data plan coming down the pipeline, and if this turns out to be true it will put some pressure on its biggest competitor AT&T. Ma Bell remains mum on its own data sharing plan.

Verizon releases Q4 results, sees jump in revenue, broadband subscribers, net loss

Verizon has just come out with its Q4 results this morning, ending the fiscal year with yet another solid revenue report, and a decidedly less rosy net loss. According to the provider, total revenue reached $18.3 billion during the final quarter of 2011, up 13 percent from last year. Verizon saw a particularly notable spike in data revenue, which reached $6.3 billion, representing a 19.2 percent increase over the year, and comprising nearly 42 percent of all revenue.

Verizon sold 15M Android phones, nearly 11M iPhones in 2011

Verizon announced during its earnings call today that 15 million Android phones were activated and nearly 11 million iPhones were sold. This news comes after the largest wireless carrier in the United States activated a record of over 4 million iPhones in the fourth quarter.
Apparently these numbers weren’t too impressive as investors punished the company’s stock because costs associated with offering the iOS handset weighed heavily on Big Red’s earnings. Verizon's Droid RAZR gets violet coat of paint, price tumbles to $200 on contract

Motorola has already unveiled the RAZR's bigger, battery-savvy brother, the Maxx, but it's not yet done with the original kevlar-skinned smartphone. Yes, the RAZR will get a color palette refresh for the new year, with Verizon readying a metallic purple edition for just under $200 -- that's a hundred bucks less than what Big Red hopes you'll lay down for the newer Maxx. Like its white and black siblings, it will shed the 16GB SD card that arrived with the first issue RAZR, leaving 16GB of built-in storage.
