Samsung smartphones pave way to record Q4 results
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsung
Samsung has reported record Q4 2012 profits largely thanks to very strong sales of its smartphone range, which cements its position as the number one mobile manufacturer in the world.
Only this year Samsung surpassed Apple as the biggest provider of smartphones in the world, which is all the more impressive when you consider that Samsung has been in the Mobile arena a very short time. Mobile phones are now the technology company's biggest source of revenue.
Results for Q4 came out at 5.2 trillion won, up 73 percent from the same time last year, whilst total profits for 2011 ended at a whopping 16.2 trillion won.
Recent results for Samsung sales stands 27.8 million smartphones sold compared t...

Samsung teases 'Super' OLED TV with CES banner
Like UnlikeFiled in: TVsSamsung
The CES showfloor doesn't open until next week, but here's one reason to arrive early in Las Vegas. Banners are popping up outside the convention center, and one of the big ones looming over the Central Hall entrance advertises its OLED TV presence. The choice of hyperbole specifically is "Ultimate TV... Super OLED Sensation." If we had to guess what size this "Super OLED" TV would be, we'd probably say 55 inches — that's how large LG's recently-announced (and self-touted "world's largest") OLED TV is, and that's the size Samsung is expected to release before the 2012 Olympics. With LG's set also being just 4mm thin, we're curious to see if Samsung will try to match the thickness or try to d...

Sprint seems to be busy with its announcements today, and the latest comes in the form of an unassuming-looking advert on CNet. Ordinarily, a US carrier announcing yet another carrier-specific version of the same device isn't big news, but what's interesting about the Sprint Galaxy Nexus is that it notes the inclusion of a 1.5 GHz SoC.

About a month ago the French motion was denied and now we're learning that an Judge Marina Tavassi of the Italian Tribunale di Milano has said "negato" as well. What's next?
