Grab the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for one cent on Amazon Wireless
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungAmazonGALAXY Nexus
As per usual, Amazon Wireless is throwing up some great deals on smartphones and is offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for a mere penny. While the handset may be 6 months old at this point (Ancient in Android phone years), it’s still a great phone and grabbing it for a penny is a steal.
Of course, to get the Galaxy Nexus for a penny, you’re going to need to sign a two-year contract with Verizon. Also, this deal is only for new customers, and existing Verizon customers will still have to pay up $149 to get the handset. While we really like the Galaxy Nexus, if you’re looking to upgrade your phone within the next two months, we’d suggest you wait it out for the Samsung Galaxy S III that should ...

Samsung Galaxy Nexus sale: Just $0.01 from Amazon
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
With Samsung’s Galaxy S III rolling out across at least five carriers in the United States beginning this month and HTC’s One X and One S already available, the world’s most popular Android 4.0 phone is already past its prime. The phone first hit the market in the U.S. this past December as a Verizon Wireless exclusive, and while Android 4.0 adoption is still just beginning to take off, technology has been a bit quicker to shift. Newly announced smartphones tout quad-core chipsets and vastly improved battery performance, but they also carry hefty price tags. For those in search of an Ice Cream Sandwich phone without having to fork over $200 or more, Amazon is now offering Samsung’s latest pu...

And the Verizon Galaxy Nexus OTA is now actually rolling out
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus
We reported two days ago that Verizon had finally made the Android 4.0.4 update official on its website, and now, perhaps 5 months after many people were expecting and update, the OTA is getting pushed out to actual phones owned by real flesh and blood people. Of course owners of the GSM version are already rocking 4.0.4, even the Sprint version (which is actually identical save for different branding and the presence of Google Wallet) have enjoyed the update for a month.

CyanogenMod 9 for Galaxy Nexus gives it Galaxy S III feature
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY NexusGalaxy S III
Those who have committed to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but are smitten by the upcoming Galaxy S III can now at least get some of the latter's phone features on the former. Thanks to some talented developers who have shared the necessary code on the XDA Developers forums, users can even run the S III-exclusive voice control S-Voice interface on the Galaxy Nexus. Otherwise ported over is the latest TouchWiz interface, wallpapers, icons and the rest of the Galaxy S III look.

Google says Galaxy Nexus code is a "trade secret"
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
This is kind of a strange story. As you may know, Apple has a lawsuit pending against Samsung in California which also includes a motion for a preliminary injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. In this case, Apple has requested that Google uncover differences, if there are any, between the Android code released in the Android Open Source Project repository and that running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Not surprisingly, Google doesn't want to give Apple any more information than it needs to, and "has already agreed to produce source code underlying" Android on the Galaxy Nexus. What is strange is the reasoning Google gives in order to avoid fulfilling this request. Google says that com...

Android 4.0.4 factory images hit the web for GSM Galaxy Nexus
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsSamsungGoogleGALAXY NexusAndroid 4.0
Sure, pushing builds of Android 4.0.4 out over the air is great, but what if you want to keep that unblemished piece of Ice Cream Sandwich for posterity? You could download the AOSP files, but you'd be missing some vital ingredients from the official factory images. Thankfully, build IMM76I of Google's mobile OS is available to download in a simple archived format. With this release Big G is also introducing a second version of its software. In addition to the standard "yakju," there's now "takju," which includes Google Wallet and the necessary support files. If you're a safety first kind of guy or gal and like to keep a simple factory reset kit handy (you know, just in case that latest CM9 ...

Samsung Galaxy Nexus lands on Sprint
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungSprintGALAXY Nexus
Samsung's popular Galaxy Nexus finally landed on Sprint, though not without complications.
The Galaxy Nexus is currently the flagship device for Google's Android 4.0 OS, or Ice Cream Sandwich, which we called "savvy, futuristic and both competent and confident."
The Sprint version doesn't bring too many new features to the table. And, those hoping to take advantage of the phone's fast 4G LTE network capabilities will have to wait a while.

Minor update fixes signal problem on GSM variant of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
A minor fix for the GSM variant of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus has been sent out to owners of the device. It takes the build of the OS to IMM76I, from the older IMM76D. The problems that the handset has been having are minor, but are a nuisance. For example, one bug caused the screren lock to lag whenever the automatic brightness was engaged. Some owners had been having a problem receiving a steady signal,
The update should be rolled out over the next few weeks. If you don't want to wait around for the OTA notification, you can attempt to update manually your GALAXY Nexus as long as it is of the "yakju" variety. Let us know what changes you've spotted after the update.

Google Galaxy Nexus, LG Viper 4G LTE smartphones available from Sprint today
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungLGSprintGALAXY NexusViper 4G LTE
Sprint's first 4G LTE smartphones, the Google Galaxy Nexus and the LG Viper 4G LTE, will be available for purchase online and in stores today. Unfortunately, buyers won't be able to take advantage of the devices' 4G LTE capabilities until Sprint launches its own LTE network later this year.
The Galaxy Nexus offered by Sprint is the same model as offered by Verizon Wireless, and it features a 4.65-inch, 720p (720 x 1280 pixel) Super AMOLED display and 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It runs a stock version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has a 5 megapixel camera with zero shutter lag.

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
Only three days after being announced, pre-orders for Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus have already sold out. The current Sprint page for the Nexus says that pre-order inventory is gone, but that more phones will be available on April 22nd, when the phone is released in stores. The Sprint version of the phone seems identical to the Verizon one, with 32GB of internal storage and a 1.2GHz processor; it comes out to $199.99 with a two-year contract.

Sprint Galaxy Nexus rumored to launch on April 22nd

Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may launch on April 22nd according to a purported internal document obtained by The Verge. In terms of hardware, the handset is identical to the Verizon Wireless version, however Sprint customers will have access to Google Wallet. The internal document also points to Sprint’s first 4G LTE phone being the LG Viper, which will be available just ahead of the Galaxy Nexus on April 15th. The handset features a 4-inch WVGA display with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 5-megapixel rear camera. The Viper comes equipped with an NFC chip and will also have Google Wallet access as well. Samsung throws in free extended battery with VZW Galaxy Nexus, applies to new purchases only
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
Samsung must be keenly aware that the Galaxy Nexus' battery life takes a hit on Verizon's LTE network: for a limited time, the outfit's throwing in a free 2,100mAh extended battery for first-time buyers (sorry, current Nexus owners are out of luck). To take advantage of the promotion, you'll have to purchase it through Samsung Direct (link below), which means you'll be paying $300 for the device and agreeing to a two-year contract. As Android and Me notes, though, you'd save quite a bit of money picking up the VZW Nexus and accompanying battery pack at Amazon for a combined $134. Suffice to say, then, this isn't a stellar deal, but those of you who disagree can avail yourselves through May ....

Canada: Samsung Galaxy Nexus now available for free on a three-year contract
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
If you’re in Canada and want to grab yourself the Galaxy Nexus, you may care to know that your smartphone of choice is now available for free on three-year contracts from select operators, including Rogers, Bell and Fido. At the same time, Virgin Mobile’s and TELUS’ units are available for $39.99 and $79.99, respectively.
Best Buy has all these offers which we would instantly suggest if there were no mandatory three-year customer agreement. Not sure why Canadian carriers keep insisting on such deals when other developed nations are not going beyond two-year contracts (which are also too long, but that’s another story).

Sprint to launch Samsung GALAXY Nexus on April 15th?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
Because this information comes from a fairly new site, we suggest that you accept it with the proverbial grain of salt. A source for S4GRU tells the site that the Sprint Samsung GALAXY Nexus will be launched on April 15th. The source is characterized as a Sprint insider from the Product Development division who confirms the release date even if it works out to be a Sunday. Sprint has a contest featuring the device that ends on April 14th which would seem to point to a release around the 15th.
Even though Sprint hasn't flicked the on switch on its LTE network, a goal made harder by the end of the carrier's relationship with LightSquared, the Sprint version of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus will sup...
