Could the next iPhone feature a 3D camera and a detachable DSLR lens? The iPhone PRO is the brainchild of designer Jinyoung Choi and is very much caters to the photography enthusiast. With a 4.5-inch LCD screen, the iPhone PRO would be considerably bigger than the current iPhone 4S with dimensions measuring 128 x 73 x 9.6 mm.
Found on the back of the handset in a central position is a 1.2-megapixel 3D camera that can be hooked up to a DSLR lens that in turn doubles up as a projector with embedded speakers. There’s even a removable hard disk at the bottom of the phone.

A redesigned family of Apple’s iMac computers may feature anti-reflective displays, DigiTimes reported on Monday. Facebook rolled out an update this morning that adds support for the new iPad’s Retina display to its iPad application. According to the release notes in iTunes, users with the new iPad will now see “a crisp, high resolution interface.” The update (version 4.1.1) brings other bug fixes, too, as well as support for additional languages.
The Retina-ready version of the app was hinted at last week, when someone spotted a teaser for the upcoming app in the iTunes App Store’s “New and Noteworthy” section. Apple developing a game controller for the iPad?

Apple developing a game controller for the iPad?

Posted on Apr 03, 2012 by MG3

According to a report on Anandtech, Apple has an internal development project to create a game controller for its iOS devices (presumably the iPad would be the targeted device). Writing about the current situation, where Android supports gaming devices while Apple has not, Anand Shimpi indicated:
“I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen. As smartphones and tablets come close to equalling (sic) the performance of current game consoles, I feel like the controller problem must be addressed.”

Apple and Samsung grab 95 percent of all handset profits

Apple and Samsung grab 95 percent of all handset profits

Posted on Apr 03, 2012 by MG3

Apple and Samsung, though normally sworn enemies in the courtroom, are mighty forces when they combine powers — and by powers, I mean profit. It turns out the two smartphone vendors account for a whopping 95 percent of profit in the entire mobile industry.
Canaccord Genuity proclaimed these results just recently in a new study. Apple alone holds 80 percent of the profits. That shouldn’t be too much of a surprise considering its enormous freakin’ market cap. Samsung takes the other 15 percent. As for the remaining 5 percent, well let’s just say Motorola, HTC, LG, RIM, Nokia and all the other competitors aren’t doing so hot.

Anthony DiClemente, a media analyst for Barclays, said in a recent note to investors that he doesn’t believe Apple will be able to change the cable industry with its rumored “iTV,” AllThingsD reported on Monday. DiClemente thinks Apple could unveil an incredible piece of hardware, possibly one that looks like a “large-scale iPad,” that would tie together the Internet with the company’s existing suite of iOS apps and services. The analyst also speculates that the Cupertino-based company’s device could retail for $1,500 or more and incorporate its Siri voice assistant with a “groundbreaking interface” that is ”so much more than a TV — including gaming, video communication, content delivery, ap...

Ashton Kutcher will play Steve Jobs in an upcoming indie movie. This seems like an April’s Fools joke crafted by a genius, but all clues say it’s actually true. Trade paper Variety broke the news on Sunday, April 1st, but we’ve never seen the publication post jokes and moreover this is featured, so while reserving some caution, we’d take it at face value.
Film reporter Jeff Sneider said that Kutcher will play the main role in the indie movie “Jobs.” It seems that the movie will cover the most interesting moments of Jobs’ life starting with his hippie youth and going to his growth to co-founder of Apple.

All Things D reports that Apple broke it down for them: The iPad displays that it is 100-percent charged before it is. In a nod towards Apple's Chinese consumer base, CEO Tim Cook is paying a visit to Beijing. Earlier today, Chinese bloggers spotted Cook in Xidan, a Beijing commercial district. A spokeswoman for Apple confirmed that Cook was in China and "had great meetings with Chinese officials today," adding that "China is very important to us and we look forward to even greater investment and growth here." While she declined to elaborate on the meetings, it's possible Apple is trying to cement relationships with officials in order to defuse a trademark dispute brought by Chinese company Proview.

New iPad runs hotter than Android tablets

New iPad runs hotter than Android tablets

Posted on Mar 27, 2012 by MG1

A lot has been made about how much hotter the new iPad runs than its predecessors. Overall, the blame has been placed on the much much larger battery found in the device, as well as the higher-res screen, and the updated processor... so essentially there has been blame placed on everything new about the new iPad. Apple, of course, says that the new iPad is "well within... thermal specifications".
New iPad runs hotter than Android tablets
Whether or not the iPad performs within the average user's "thermal specifications" are neither here nor there, but PCWorld has done a little research to compare the average temperature of other popular tablets, and the new iPad beats them all (or loses, i....
