Motorola Droid 2 Global Gingerbread firmware leaked
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 2
We have a strong reason to believe that the Gingerbread update for the MotorolaDroid 2 Global will be launched within weeks maybe even days. As a matter of fact, thanks to Android developer aceoyame from RootzWiki – you can already try out the latest version of Android for smartphones today. However, it’s not the “regular” update, but one that will require some hacking on your end. If you’re feeling tech savvy enough and are ready to experiment, proceed to this page where all the instructions are located. You should be aware that such a move could brick your phone if something goes wrong, so you better backup all your data and apps prior to proceeding.

Sony Ericsson scores exclusive launch deal for FIFA 12
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSony EricssonXperia PLAYXperia PLAY CDMAXperia PLAY 4G
Sony Ericsson proudly announced a limited time exclusive agreement with EA Mobile to deliver the much anticipated EA SPORTS FIFA 12 on Android. Obviously the game will be optimized for the Xperia PLAY, allowing players to use the smartphone’s gamepad instead of virtual on-screen controls.
Then, after that exclusive launch period ends (we’re most likely talking about weeks here), FIFA 12 will also be available on the “regular” Android Market.

Verizon to carry BlackBerry Torch 9850 according to leak
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesRIM BlackBerry9850
Verizon will carry RIM’s new BlackBerry Torch 9850, according to a picture of a leaked advertisement obtained by CrackBerry. It is still unclear when the phone will launch, but given that it is pictured next to the aging Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play, we suspect Verizon could make the announcement in the near future. RIM revealed the Torch 9850 in early August and we had a chance to check it out first-hand during an event in Toronto. The web browser is much improved, we appreciated the thin form factor and the phone’s 1.2GHz processor zipped around BlackBerry OS 7. The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is equipped with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, 8GB of storage and a 5-megapixel camera capable of record...

Nokia 100, 101 unveiled: Espoo continues its foray in the ultra low end
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIA
he Nokia 100/101 don’t aim for the sky when it comes to their specs, but pricewise they do - the basic Symbian 30 devices push the boundary of the ultra low-end as probably the most affordable color screen phones while delivering outstanding battery life.
The two handsets are nearly identical except for two things: the Nokia 101 is a dual-SIM device with an MP3 player, features not present on the Nokia 100. Both of them, though, come with an FM radio and battery that can serve you up to 25 days in standby mode, with a talk time of 6.7 hours.

iPhone 5 concept video shows holographic keyboard and display - SlashGear
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
We’ve seen plenty of iPhone 5 concept renderings in the past, one of the most recent being the More @ Less design, but here we have a neat concept in video format. The video is created by a San Francisco-based 3D animation and digital content shop called Aatma Studio, which imagines the integration of pico projection for holographic keyboards and displays on future iPhones.

Droid Bionic teases boot sequence, LTE prowess to anxious onlookers
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC
That's right folks, the Droid Bionic is back with another leaked appearance. This time it stars in a video clip that reveals the phone's boot sequence, which is followed by an all-important thrill ride / speed test on Verizon's LTE network. As if you needed further proof, this Moto reveals itself to pack dual cores, and as you might expect, it sports Motorola's animation-laden skin. What about the LTE test, you ask? It pulls in respectable numbers -- approximately 4.5Mbps down and 1.9Mbps up -- but as you're likely aware, these speeds pale in comparison to what we've seen on the Droid Charge and Revolution.

Much like Ford's MyFord Touch and SYNC AppLink system we covered a few months back, Pioneer is hoping to jump on the trend of the connected car by introducing a new system that allows iPhone and iPod content to be controlled on the dashboard of your car.
Called the Pioneer AppRadio, it integrates into your dashboard allowing you to use and control your apps such as Google Maps, YouTube and your calendar directly through the screen. This is aided with a hi-res, WVGA 6.1-inch capacitive multi-touch screen.

Huawei Sonic reappears at the FCC, ditches AWS 3G and NFC functionality
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHuaweiM750
If this is the same "T-Mobile Sonic" we saw a month back, it's safe to assume Huawei took the Gingerbread slab back to the drawing board and away from a Magenta debut. Popping up, once again, over at the FCC, and bearing a different model number -- U8652 -- the new Sonic sports a similar rounded-edge design, although this current incarnation takes on a definite rectangular shape. Gone are both the formerly included NFC functionality and AWS bands, in favor of quadband GSM, UMTS 850 / 1900 / 2100 bands, 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera, WiFi and Bluetooth. The handset's radios are tipping us in the direction of an AT&T destiny, but could also very likely indicate a bow on the networks to our ...

Nokia Nearby tells your S40 where the action's at
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsNOKIA
Just because you're packing an S40 or S60 device doesn't mean you should have to miss out on the haps. That's why Nokia Beta Labs is debuting a pilot app called Nokia Nearby, a hyper-local search app -- geared toward emerging markets with a heavy concentration of S40 handsets -- that helps you find restaurants, movie theaters and other locations within close range of your current location. Fortunately, GPS isn't required for the service to work properly, which makes it even more tempting to at least try out. Glance at the video below the break to get a quick demonstration, and move over to the source link to download the beta program.

HTC Bliss gets its clearest photo session yet, shows off front-facing camera
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCBliss
The HTC Bliss is undoubtedly going through the typical pre-launch routine: it's passed through the ranks of the FCC, received its first Blurrycam session, and now we're finally seeing the upcoming device up close and personal. The folks at XDA China got their hands on one and took a few high-quality images for the world to see, which means we're probably not too far away from the phone's forthcoming release. They confirmed that the Bliss will in fact run on HTC Sense 3.5, feature a front-facing camera, and that it will come in a variety of colors. So, will we find this on display at next week's HTC meetup? Or maybe our team will get some hands-on time at IFA? And will this "female-oriented" ...

New report resurrects T-Mobile iPhone 5 rumor

Will wonders never cease? Just one day after The Wall Street Journal reported Sprint will begin selling Apple’s iPhone 5 in October, a new report resurrects rumors that T-Mobile will also launch Apple’s fifth-generation phone later this fall. Apple blog MacTrast claims T-Mobile will launch the new iPhone in early to mid-October, citing “a contact within T-Mobile who claims to have been briefed on the matter.” BGR exclusively published photos this past April revealing that Apple has indeed been testing an iPhone model compatible with T-Mobile’s 3G network. We also speculated in early July that Apple would launch its iPhone on all major U.S. carriers this fall. Apple’s next-generation smartpho...

U.S. version of Samsung Galaxy S II replaces iPhone-like home button with Android one
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S II
Has Samsung provided evidence in favor of Apple's claim that the Korean company has copied designs from the Cupertino based firm's products? Yesterday we reported that Samsung had released a video teaser for the U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy S II and within that video may lie proof that Apple could have a strong case.
If you look closely at the video, the Samsung Galaxy S II being used in most of the scenes has an iPhone-style home button below the screen. That is the version that we have seen in most pictures of the handset that has been called the best Android phone ever made. But at the end of the video, there is a change. The picture of the Samsung Galaxy S II used has typical Andr...
