We all know that AT&T and T-Mobile will be soon gearing up for its anti-trust trial with the government, and to no one’s surprise, Google wants to protect confidential information about its business plans related to Android smartphone operating system. So in laymen terms, the search giant wants no parts of this merger.
So to help protect itself and avoid the AT&Tand T-Mo trial, Google has filed a petition with the judge presiding over the case between the Justice Department and AT&T over the company’s proposed purchase of T-Mobile asking to keep confidential data about Android from being disclosed to the public. In its petition the search giant said:

HTC Radar 4G visits FCC on its way to T-Mobile

HTC Radar 4G visits FCC on its way to T-Mobile

Posted on Sep 29, 2011 by MG1

HTC Radar 4G, which we see as a mass market Windows Phone 7.5 Mango device, is at the FCC where the government-paid engineers are testing its radiation levels, making sure it’s safe to be used by the general public. Once that process is completed, HTC’s baby will be heading to T-Mobile USA, which we think will sell it for about $100 on a two-year contract.
Specs wise, the Radar 4G comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, single-core 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera on the back, front-facing camera (for video calls), HSPA+ (4G) and Wi-Fi connectivity and 8GB of built-in storage. As I said, it’s a solid mid-range by today’s standards (hence mass-market appeal), leaving the premium high-end sp...

T-Mobile’s chief marketing officer Cole Brodman recently published a letter on the company’s official blog addressing customers and discussing the carrier’s view on the iPhone. At first glance, it reads like a simple breakdown as to why T-Mobile doesn’t offer the iPhone. Brodman’s explanation of T-Mobile’s current iPhone situation, however, also reads a bit like a plea to Apple. “Today, there are over a million T-Mobile customers using unlocked iPhones on our network,” Brodman explains. “We are interested in offering all of our customers a no-compromise iPhone experience on our network,” he added, suggesting that Apple and T-Mobile have not been able to reach an agreement that would allow T-...

Verizon backs AT&T in T-Mobile merger

Verizon backs AT&T in T-Mobile merger

Posted on Sep 26, 2011 by MG1

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam has spoken out in favor of the AT&T/T-Mobile merger, describing the deal as “kind of like gravity” and arguing that, if it blocks it, the US government will need to be more active in its spectrum plans. Speaking at an investor conference this week, McAdam claimed “that match had to occur” MarketWatch reports, and warned that the involved parties “need to be very thoughtful on what the impacts would be to the overall industry if this is a way to regulate the industry without actually passing regulation.”
“I have taken the position that the AT&T merger with T-Mobile was kind of like gravity. It had to occur, because you had a company with a T-Mobile that had the spect...

Remember when we told you that T-Mobile may have something special in stock for this Saturday? Well, it turns out that the rumors were definitely on the right track. On September 24, T-Mobile will be holding the rightfully-named “Yes, Every Smartphone Is on Sale” sale, during which all of the carrier's smartphones, tablets, and mobile broadband devices will be available at discounted rates.
The discount comes in the form of a mail-in rebate ranging from $25 to $200, depending on which device you choose to walk out with. For example, a brand new HTC Sensation 4G comes with a $100 mail-in rebate, which effectively drops your net down payment to $99, and picking a BlackBerry Bold 9900 will bri...

T-Mobile CMO: no iPhone 5 on our network this year

T-Mobile CMO: no iPhone 5 on our network this year

Posted on Sep 21, 2011 by MG1

Hopes and dreams = shot. We've had a sneaky suspicion all along that T-Mobile would likely be the only major network not playing host to an iPhone 5 launch party this year, but we still kept our heads high because no official denial had been given from the company's C-level. That's now changed, since T-Mobile CMO Cole Brodman slammed us back into reality at a town hall meeting stating: "we are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year." It's a hard pill to swallow in such a short summation, but there might be a glimmer of hope -- technically Brodman only referenced one specific name. Since there's always a possibility that Apple will choose a different title for its fifth-gen device (or even a...

AT&T May Sell Off Assets to Seal T-Mobile Deal

AT&T May Sell Off Assets to Seal T-Mobile Deal

Posted on Sep 20, 2011 by MG1

Filed in: T-MobileAT&T

Reports today are indicating that AT&T really doesn’t want its acquisition of T-Mobile to fall through, and is going so far as to consider a large asset sale to seal the deal with regulators. Ma Bell is quietly chatting up smaller competitors like MetroPCS and Leap Wireless to sell spectrum and subscribers, according to sources.
The deal to buy T-Mobile hit a snag recently when the US Justice Department filed suit to stop it. The FCC, and several states have also called foul on the buyout, saying that it will hurt competition and negatively affect users. By selling off assets, AT&T hopes to convince regulators that that will not be the case.
If AT&T cannot close the deal, they will have to p...

Samsung claims T-Mobile Galaxy S II uses 1.5GHz Snapdragon

Samsung claims T-Mobile Galaxy S II uses 1.5GHz Snapdragon

Posted on Sep 14, 2011 by MG1

Samsung in a response on Twitter gave an answer as to the mystery of the processor in the T-Mobile Galaxy S II. A social media spokesperson said it was the 1.5GHz Snapdragon APQ8060, the same processor as in the TouchPad 4G. Every other Galaxy S II version so far uses Samsung's own 1.2GHz Exynos chip.
It's still not clear why the T-Mobile version will have needed one of Qualcomm's chips, although it may have to do with network choices. T-Mobile's need for the 1,700MHz band on its HSPA+ 3G, which might go to a rare 42Mbps, could have pushed Samsung to change processors to get the frequency support it needed.
When it ships, which is expected in mid-to-late October, the T-Mobile edition may not...

Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 with T-Mobile bands on board gets approved by the FCC

Posted on Sep 14, 2011 by MG1

Currently, if you want to get a Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 with connectivity features going beyond the scope of Wi-Fi, grabbing an LTE model from Verizon is your only option. However, there seems to be a chance of an alternative popping up on T-Mobile's shelves, if the device that we just came across ever sees the light of day.
A Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 model with support for T-Mobile's 4G bands has been approved by the FCC, meaning that the nation's fourth largest carrier might have yet another 4G slate joining its lineup in the near future. Listed with its SGH-T859 model name, the tablet has the exact same dimensions as the Wi-Fi-only version of the GALAXY Tab 10.1 and can run on T-Mobile's 1...

AT&T/T-Mobile merger could put Sprint out of business

Posted on Sep 13, 2011 by MG1

Chitika Insights, Chitika’s research arm, recently proposed the question “What if AT&T and T-Mobile actually merge?” and created a graph of what the wireless landscape in the United States might look like if AT&T’s proposed $39 billion takeover of T-Mobile USA is passed. Chitika concluded there could be calamitous consequences for Sprint and various regional carriers such as Boost and MetroPCS. If the merger is approved, AT&T and T-Mobile will have more than 130 million subscribers and 51% of the U.S. wireless market based on usage, Chitika’s data suggests. “[The] projection shows the immediate impact of the merger, so the smaller network’s share looks unscathed,” the company wrote its blog....

Lawmakers Want to Know Why DoJ Objected to AT&T/T-Mobile Deal

Republicans from the House Energy and Commerce Committee have submitted a letter to the Federal Communications Commission asking why the agency, along with the Department fo Justice, is frowning on AT&T's proposed acquisition of T-Mobile. "It is clear that this is a complex transaction and it is important that government officials reserve judgment until all of the facts have come to light," the letter said. The lawmakers have asked for a bipartisan meeting to be held within two weeks to discuss the acquisition. Specifically, they want to know why the DoJ and FCC doubt the merger's benefits and whether the agencies considered the impact on jobs and economic growth. The DoJ sued to block the m...

T-Mobile is asking that store managers adjust their labor hours for the light days before and after September 24.
