UK Hot Deal: HTC Sensation available for 69 GBP with 20 GBP a month contract

Posted on Jul 11, 2011 by MG1

Online retailer Phones4U has an awesome deal for those of you looking to grab themselves the HTC Sensation, but don’t want to get into an expensive monthly plan. The offer includes paying 69 GBP upfront and committing on a two-year 20 GBP a month contract from Orange UK. That money gets you 200 voice minutes, 3000 text messages and 250 MB of mobile data per month. I don’t like the mobile data part, but then again it seems kinda fair for 20 pounds. Of course, if you opt for a better (read: more expensive) plan, you’ll get more data while also paying less upfront.
As a reminder, the HTC Sensation is one of the best Android smartphones ever made. It comes with a dual-core processor, 4.3-inch qH...

First OTA update hits non-carrier branded HTC Sensation units in Europe

First OTA update hits non-carrier branded HTC Sensation units in Europe

Posted on Jul 07, 2011 by MG1

Needless to say, there are some happy HTC Sensation owners in Europe that are exuberant about the handset's loveliness, but for those affected by the stifling problem of lag with its performance, they’re going to be glad to see hear that some owners are seeing better results after installing a new software update.
Although it doesn’t necessarily bring along anything dramatic, this 27MB over-the-air update for non-carrier branded HTC Sensation units in Europe is being pushed out as we speak. Naturally, it brings the handset up to software version 1.35.401.1 and carries along some additional bug fixes with it. Moreover, we’re sure that handset owners are more interested about seeing an unlock...

HTC Sensation 4G heads to Canada, available for $150 on Bell

HTC Sensation 4G heads to Canada, available for $150 on Bell

Posted on Jul 06, 2011 by MG1

Do our friends across the border have a hankerin' for a top-of-the-line Android phone? Consider your desires addressed. Not only is Bell coming out with the Samsung Galaxy S II in the near future, the HTC Sensation 4G is now officially in stock for $150 on a three-year commitment. The "4G" moniker remains since the device is compatible with Bell's 14.4 Mbps HSPA+ network. Aside from this, however, we can expect the same goodies seen in the US version: a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, Gingerbread, 4.3-inch qHD display with 960 x 540 resolution, and an 8 megapixel camera (just to name a few). This does unfortunately mean that you'll now have two very capable "superphones" to choose from -- although the...

Skype 2 video chat unofficially enabled on the Galaxy S II, Sensation, and others

Skype 2 video chat unofficially enabled on the Galaxy S II, Sensation, and others

Posted on Jul 04, 2011 by MG1

The latest Skype update for Android is available to everyone, but it only enables video chat on four specific handsets. Fortunately, impatient modders have gone some way to correcting this profound injustice, by creating APKs that activate video calling on other handsets too. So far we've heard of successful ports on the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation, Thunderbolt and EVO 4G. If you've got some other handset with Android 2.3, a little experimentation with the APK might also be worth your while. However, we just tried it on an Xperia Arc and didn't get very far: the app ran, but efforts to communicate with an Xperia Neo resulted in one-way video, a locked landscape mode and plenty ...

Orange UK's Coming Soon page now lists HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy Mini

Orange UK's Coming Soon page now lists HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy Mini

Posted on Jun 27, 2011 by MG1

Orange UK will soon start selling two Android smartphones. The first of the two is the HTC Sensation, which we know as the monster phone thanks to its specs that include a dual-core processor, 4.3-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, an array of sensors and so on. You name it, this baby has it. It’s one of the best smartphones announced to date, if not the best. We’ve no doubts Orange will offer the Sensation for free to anyone willing to commit on a plan starting at 30 or 35 GBP a month.
Then there’s the Samsung Galaxy Mini, which for many will be the first smartphone they ever bought. It should cost next to nothing, even free with some not-that-...

HTC Sensation 4G official for Bell

HTC Sensation 4G official for Bell

Posted on Jun 17, 2011 by MG1

Bell gained the distinction of being the first if not only Canadian carrier to get the HTC Sensation 4G. Its version will be much like the international version of the 1.2GHz, dual-core Android 2.3 phone but switch over to Bell's HSPA frequencies, also shared with most Canadian carriers and AT&T, and carry 14.4Mbps. The carrier is pushing its Mobile TV app for live streaming but also plans to carry HTC's Watch movie store.
The Sensation 4G is HTC's most advanced smartphone to date and, apart from the speed, centers on a 4.3-inch, 540x960 display. It packs a 1.3-megapixel front camera and an eight-megapixel rear camera that can drive 1080p video recording. HTC' Sense 3.0 is making its first a...
