HTC Sensation XL getting its Ice Cream Sandwich dessert

HTC Sensation XL getting its Ice Cream Sandwich dessert

Posted on May 29, 2012 by MG3

Users of the HTC Sensation XL, mostly in Europe and Asia, have received the Android 4.0 update over the air. To make sure you have received it, go to Settings > About phone > Software updates and hit that button. You will be downloading a 200MB package which means those with a strict data cap might want to wait for a Wi-Fi connection before installing it. The exact build that you will be updating to is Android 4.0.3 while HTC Sense remains at 3.6. This brings users some of the new ICS features like Face Unlock, the new app dock and the multi-tasking menu. What you won't be getting is the new UI found on devices carrying HTC Sense 4.0.

HTC Reveals Which Devices Will Unwrap Ice Cream Sandwich

Do you own a Droid Incredible 2 by HTC? If so, you can expect a future update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). The same applies to the HTC Amaze 4G, Desire S, Desire HD, and a dozen other smartphones HTC has confirmed will be upgraded to ICS. Unfortunately, HTC didn't provide specific dates for any of the planned upgrades, so you'll have to settle for warm fuzzies from simply knowing your device is the list.

HTC says Android 4.0 update coming in March to select models

HTC says Android 4.0 update coming in March to select models

Posted on Feb 10, 2012 by MG1

Considering that the white HTC Sensation is shipping in Europe starting March 1st with Android 4.0, it might be no surprise that the Sensation series will be the first HTC phones to be updated to the latest Android version. Starting at the end of next month, the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE will be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich with the HTC Sensation XL receiving it shortly afterward.
Other HTC devices getting Android 4.0 sometime later this year include the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. No precise date was given as to when the owners of these devices can expect the latest build of...

White HTC Sensation with Android 4.0 ICS coming March 1 (Update: No ICS)

White HTC Sensation with Android 4.0 ICS coming March 1 (Update: No ICS)

Posted on Feb 03, 2012 by MG1

HTC has announced that it will offer its Sensation smartphone in "ice white" come March 1. What is more interesting, however, is that this version of the Sensation (which was originally announced way back in April 2011) will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich already installed, making it the first HTC device with Android 4.0 on the market. The new ice white Sensation was announced in the Netherlands, but we would be surprised if HTC didn't bring it to every market that the original Sensation is available in. HTC isn't stiffing existing Sensation owners either, as it says an upgrade to Android 4.0 will be available for their handsets soon.
Update: We have been informed by HTC that the o...

HTC details Android 4.0 ICS upgrade for 8 smartphones

HTC details Android 4.0 ICS upgrade for 8 smartphones

Posted on Nov 08, 2011 by MG1

Many have wondered what HTC's plans are when it comes to upgrading its existing Android smartphones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, as the manufacturer has said that it was still evaluating the new operating system and how it fits with HTC's custom Sense interface that it likes to use. Now, those questions have found answers, as HTC has announced a list of eight smartphones that will get Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades in 2012.
The company says that in addition to the just-released HTC Vivid, which is apparently ready for Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, and HTC Amaze 4G are all planned to get...

UK: Three, Vodafone now offer HTC Sensation XL

UK: Three, Vodafone now offer HTC Sensation XL

Posted on Nov 04, 2011 by MG1

HTC Sensation XL, the Taiwanese company’s biggest Android smartphone announced to date, is now available at British operators Three and Vodafone. Three is offering the device for free to anyone willing to put his or her signature on a two-year contract with at least 34 GBP/month plan. That money gets you 500 minutes, 5,000 messages and 1GB of mobile data every month.
As for Vodafone, it offers the Sensation XL for free on plans starting at 41 GBP per month that include 1,200 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of monthly data.
Now this would all be cool if HTC’s big baby had a dual-core processor and unfortunately it doesn’t. In that sense I’m not sure why the Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Sens...

HTC announces the Sensation XL - Sense, Beats, 1.5GHz CPU, and 4.7 inch display

HTC announces the Sensation XL - Sense, Beats, 1.5GHz CPU, and 4.7 inch display

Posted on Oct 07, 2011 by MG1

Even though all eyes are on the Galaxy Nexus right now, HTC has just announced one hell of a phone, the Sensation XL. This handset packs a massive 4.7 inch display, 1.5 GHz single-core processor, Beats audio support, and your very own unicorn. (Unicorns in limited quantities)
This gorgeous handset is one beast of hardware that showcases what HTC does best, which is make incredible hardware. The 4.7 inch display is massive but is a bit of a miss when it comes to resolution. The XL ships with a 800×480 resolution, which not only is a downgrade from the original Sensation but spreading the pixels across such a large display may leave you wanting something with a little more umph.
The XL is onl...

HTC Runnymede may be called the Sensation XL

HTC Runnymede may be called the Sensation XL

Posted on Sep 27, 2011 by MG1

You remember that monster sized Android-powered phone from HTC that has leaked several times over the course of the last few weeks, the HTC Runnymede? Once it becomes official it may actually be called the Sensation XL.
The Runnymede/Senation XL is a beast of a device. It is going to feature a 4.7-inch display like its Windows Phone counterpart the HTC Titan. Powering the device is a single-core 1.5GHz processor. It is also going to be another one of the new devices to feature HTC’s latest acquisition Beats Audio on board. There had been a rumor going around that the Runnymede would be rebranded the HTC Bass once it hit retail shelves, but that is no longer the case.
Calling it the Sensatio...

HTC Runnymede and Bliss details sneak out from leak-town

HTC Runnymede and Bliss details sneak out from leak-town

Posted on Sep 14, 2011 by MG1

Naming your flagship handset after a small village in Surrey isn't what we'd do, but then we aren't in the handset business. The first full render of the HTC Runnymede has leaked and as you can see, it's one big heap of telephone. It's the first phone to benefit from the company's partnership with Beats Audio and will come with a pair of Beats-branded cans rather than regular earbuds. If you missed the specs first time around, the 4.7-inch, 9.9mm thick phone gets a beastly 768MB of RAM, 1.5GHZ Qualcomm chip and a serious 8 megapixel camera with f2.2 lens and double LED flash round back. Availability is still up in the air but we know that UK prices are £499 or £530 for the 16 or 32GB version...

HTC Runnymede: Are these guys seriously launching a 4.7 inch phone?

HTC Runnymede: Are these guys seriously launching a 4.7 inch phone?

Posted on Sep 02, 2011 by MG1

Large smartphones are something that polarize the mobile community. When the first generation Samsung Galaxy S shipped it packed a 4 inch screen. Many people were protesting at what was at the time considered a monstrosity. It didn’t take very long for someone to outdo the Galaxy S however and release a 4.3 inch smartphone; that made even more people cringe. The madness doesn’t stop there though, at the Consumer Electronics Show this year the 4.5 inch Samsung Infuse was announced for AT&T and it was, to put it lightly, ridiculous. During this week alone Samsung announced two devices with a 4.5 inch screen, the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE and the T-Mobile variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II. HTC, ...
