This is kind of a strange story. As you may know, Apple has a lawsuit pending against Samsung in California which also includes a motion for a preliminary injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. In this case, Apple has requested that Google uncover differences, if there are any, between the Android code released in the Android Open Source Project repository and that running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Not surprisingly, Google doesn't want to give Apple any more information than it needs to, and "has already agreed to produce source code underlying" Android on the Galaxy Nexus. What is strange is the reasoning Google gives in order to avoid fulfilling this request. Google says that com...

US Galaxy S III may not feature quad-core chip

When the Galaxy S III does land in the US, it might not have that rumored quad-core chip. That’s according to a Samsung executive speaking to The Korea Times, who told the publication that Galaxy S IIIs in different markets will feature different chips. In Europe, the GSIII will feature Samsung’s Exynos quad-core processor, while Qualcomm’s chips will be used in the United States.

Samsung is having a veritable leak festival this week as far as their Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone goes, today’s latest being right up front and center in the benchmarking app AnTuTu. This app synthetically tests several elements in the device you run it on including graphics and CPU processing power. What you’ll find here is not only details and specifications in the device, but that it appears very much to be the new king of the pack as far as this particular test goes.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is almost upon us (just a week to go until the big announcement), but not everyone can afford the top of the line smartphones. Samsung has today announced that its midrange model, the Galaxy S Advance, will be shipping in a few days time on April 30th in the UK. SamMobile spotted a couple of references in Samsung's own Kies app that confirms that the GT-i9300 model is for the Samsung Galaxy S III. The Kies software, used for syncing, shows two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S III. One is labeled as the Samsung GT-i9300 and other is the Samsung GT-i9300T. The "T" could stand for a different radio frequency used in a different country or by a different carrier.

Sure, pushing builds of Android 4.0.4 out over the air is great, but what if you want to keep that unblemished piece of Ice Cream Sandwich for posterity? While we've already gotten glimpses of supposed Samsung Galaxy S III prototypes, this latest one has popped up in a (since removed) post on Chinese forum Mobile01. The plastic rim meant to obscure the device's sleek new design is still present, but as noted by The Verge, the picture appears to show a larger menu button than we're used to on stock ICS. We should find out what the deal is in just a few days, we'll keep our apps and countdown clocks close by until then.

Samsung's Galaxy Note is currently exclusive to AT&T in the United States, but T-Mobile users that would like to use the device on their network of choice may not have to end up resorting to software hacks after all. TmoNews has a series of photos of what appears to be a branded T-Mobile version of the 5.3-inch device. A look inside the battery compartment reveals a model number of SGH-T879, with the phone also reporting that it is running version 4.0.3 of Android. Several carrier-specific apps are also pictured on the homescreen, including T-Mobile Mail, T-Mobile TV, and My T-Mobile. If you're a Verizon Wireless user who's put off by the Galaxy Nexus' high price tag, it looks like Samsung might be working on a new phone for you. PocketNow has found a Bluetooth SIG filing and a GLBenchmark entry for a yet-to-be-announced Samsung SCH-I200 "Jasper." According to the benchmarks, the phone has a dual-core, 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 chip — an SoC that is no slouch and can be found in HTC's high-end One X on AT&T.

Vodafone has confirmed that it will be stocking the next Samsung Galaxy, with a source telling TechRadar that it's 'highly anticipated' to be named the Samsung Galaxy S3.
A new page has appeared on Vodafone's website which allows customers to register for updates on the next Galaxy device from Samsung.
A TechRadar source close to the manufacturer has said that it's "highly anticipate the current page on the Vodafone website will change over to a Samsung Galaxy S3 holding page in the near future".

The “next Galaxy” bandwagon already has its first carrier onboard, despite official details of the new Samsung flagship amounting to little more than hyperbole and livestock. Vodafone UK has confirmed that the next Galaxy – expected to be the Galaxy S III, in spirit if not in name – is headed to its network, offering would-be owners of the mysterious phone to register their details for future updates.
