Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
We’ve been hearing about the Motorola Droid 3 smartphone for quite some time. No official announcements have been made yet, but images and videos of the device been leaking since early this month. And now, new leaks are confirming the handset’s rumored release date and specs.
The Motorola Droid 3 follows after the Droid 2 and Droid X2, all of which have already launched on Verizon. The below leaked image from Android Central confirms that the Droid 3 will indeed feature a 4-inch qHD display running Android 2.3 on a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz dual-core processor. It will come with a front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of HD video capture along with LED flash.

Motorola Droid X2 facing chronic overheating problems
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID X2
A new investigation has suggested that the Motorola Droid X2 may have an inherent overheating problem. Following reports from forums that it was getting too hot, Geek ran temperature tests against six separate units. One got so hot running Google Music at 110F that it shut down to protect the processor, while another doing 3G streaming also failed out; others behaved similarly.
The issue may be linked to software. Trying games like Galaxy of Fire 2 doesn't cause the problem even after an hour.
Motorola and Verizon claim they can't reproduce the issue on their own devices. Stories from Droid X2 owners encountering the problem, though, suggest the issue isn't consistent and may be a phone-by-p...

Droid Bionic seemingly clears the FCC, may finally be headed for (US) glory
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC Etna
Is this the Droid Bionic, eager to make its US debut at long last? After a false start, it's looking more and more like Motorola's next superphone could be inching ever closer to that elusive "summer release," with a new FCC filing showcasing a cellular communications device with EVDO, LTE, 700MHz radios, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and an inductive charging battery cover. 'Course, a few things are still under wraps until August 7th, so it's fairly impossible to tell with any level of certainty what handset we're peering at. The clues most certainly add up, however, and if you were thinking of holding out just a wee bit longer, maybe the outline above is just what you needed to find patience...

Droid 3 accessories leaked, Moto's new slider gets wireless charging back plate and more
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
So, you've read the rumors, scoped out the leaks, and circled multiple dates on your calendar -- just to cover all of your Droid 3 bases. You can now add a catalog of accessories to the stack of intel for this Motorola slider, including an inductive battery door (most likely harnessing the power of Qi), and a smattering of cases and screen protectors. Also thrown in the mix is a 1930mAh extended battery so you can fuel a marathon of South Park reruns and take full advantage of the last week of unlimited data from Verizon. Although knowing about the accessories is nice, we'd prefer to find out the important stuff... ya know, like how much Big Red's new Droid will cost.

Motorola DEFY on T-Mobile UK finally getting Android 2.2 Froyo
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaT-MobileGoogleAndroid 2.2DEFY
Most owners of the Motorola DEFY in the UK have probably already received the update to Android 2.2 Froyo that was released a few weeks back, but those who happen to have bought their DEFY through T-Mobile have been left in the lurch. They shouldn't be upset for too much longer, though, as T-Mobile has announced that users can expect the update to roll out at the beginning of July. Android 2.2 Froyo brings a number of improvements, including faster performance and the ability to move apps to the SD card. T-Mobile users will probably be happy to get the latest and greatest from April 2010, but I wouldn't hold my breath for a 2.3 Gingerbread update for the DEFY.

Motorola releases ATRIX clone for the Chinese market
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaATRIX 4G
Motorola has announced a new smartphone for the Chinese market that borrows heavily from its existing ATRIX design for AT&T. The MT870 is a dual-core powered device with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Motorola's custom, don't-call-it-MOTOBLUR, interface.
The MT870 has the same 4-inch, qHD (540 x 960 pixel) display as the ATRIX, and each core of the processor runs at 1GHz, just like the ATRIX. The camera on the MT870 has been upgraded to record 1080p HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) video, though Motorola did not specify the resolution of the still shots. Eight gigabytes of internal storage is included to store all those HD videos you record, and there is a microSD slot capable of supporting up to 32GB ca...

Amazon Slashes Prices On Atrix, Infuse, And Revolution
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungLGMotorolaAmazonRevolutionATRIX 4GInfuse 4G
Amazon has done it again. They’ve slashed prices generously as only they have been known to do, and this time it’s for the Motorola Atrix 4G, the Samsung Infuse 4G, and the LG Revolution. If you’ve been pining for one of these powerful 4G LTE smartphones, now’s the time take action. Amazon is dropping prices to as low as $0.01!
Amazon has dropped pricing to $89.99 for the Samsung Infuse 4G, which currently retails from the AT&T website for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The Infuse is a 4G HSPA+ device introduced for the AT&T network back in May. It’s the largest yet thinnest device on the network sporting a whopping 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.3-megapixel front camera, 8-megapix...

Droid 3 headed to Best Buy on July 14th?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
Red-eye alert, all ye Droid faithful! A leaked screenshot over at Droid Attic shows Motorola's worst kept secret -- the Droid 3 -- supposedly hitting Best Buy's shelves on July 14th. With all the unofficial leaks we've seen in the past few months, we have a pretty good idea of what this successor's got running under its QWERTY slider. Favoring a dual-core OMAP 4430 processor, a rear-facing 8 megapixel cam capturing video at 1080p, and baked with latest Gingerbread update, this black block of does shouldn't disappoint. Make note, VZW's new plans go into effect one week prior to this, so if you're clinging to that grandfathered plan, you can still pick this one up on-contract, and cross your t...

Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, Updated Motoblur UI Headed To Motorola Atrix 4G Next Month
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaGoogleAndroid 2.3ATRIX 4G
For those of you who own the Motorola Atrix 4G, you know that it does all kinds of cool things. For one, it turns into a little laptop when you clip it into its corresponding laptop dock. It’s also the first dual-core smartphone to launch in the U.S., so it was the trend-setter of snappiness, if you will. One thing the Atrix 4G doesn’t do, however, is run Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, at least not until next month. That’s right Atrix owners, you’re in for a real Gingerbread treat.
Motorola will release the latest version of the Motoblur UI alongside the OTA update, which should fix some of the kinks in the interface. Sometimes heavy skins like the Motoblur UI ruin the fun of an OS update becaus...

Hulu Plus for Android is available now... for six devices

The good news is that Hulu Plus for Android is on the market, but the bad news is that you may not be able to install it yet. The official Hulu Blog has just been updated with news that six phones -- Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Droid II, Motorola Droid X, and the Motorola Atrix -- are on the compatible list with "additional device announcements" due later in the year. While there's some crossover with the list of Netflix-compatible devices, it's hardly complete and many flagship phones are still missing. Here's hoping the tweakers can work their magic on that apk and get it running for the rest of us, whether we're shelling out $7.99 a month or just want to leech some Chappe...

Motorola's CEO says the phone is going to be the best computer, best camera, best music player

Motorola's chief executive Sanjay Jha took over Moto when the company was literally falling apart in 2008 and now he has the freedom to run Motorola Mobility, the part of Motorola responsible for its mobile business after the company split earlier in the year. Motorola's financial results however haven't exactly flourished in the last few quarters as competition in Android smartphones becomes more fierce.

It looks like Motorola is unlocking the Atrix bootloader with the Gingerbread update
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaGoogleAndroid 2.3ATRIX 4G
Motorola had said that they would change their policy on locking bootloaders by Q3 of this year, but the changes look like they're starting early. BriefMobile has confirmed through a leaked Gingerbread update for the Motorola Atrix 4G that the update will allow easy unlocking of the bootloader.
The Gingerbread update for the Atrix is scheduled to be released over-the-air in July, and will update the phone to Android 2.3.3, which unfortunately means that the phone still won't be able to use the new video chat in GTalk which requires 2.3.4. But, the update will allow the use of the traditional fastboot oem unlock command to unlock the bootloader. And, an unlocked bootloader means full support...
