New and improved Motorola Defy heading for AT&T?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaAT&TDEFY
According to This Is My Next, a new and improved version of the Motorola Defy could be making its way to AT&T. The new and improved part, according to the story, would constitute a bump up from a TI OMAP 3610 processor clocked at 800MHz to a TI OMAP 3620 with the slightly faster speed of 1GHz. The other change deals with the version of the Android OS on board. The current model offers Android 2.2 while a new Motorola Defy would come with Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) installed.
The remaining specs are said to be the same as on the original model which would mean that you could expect the new Defy to offer a 3.7 inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 854, 512MB of RAM and a rear facing 5MP came...

International Atrix unlocked bootloader uncovered, hackers around the globe rejoice
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaATRIX 4G
That Atrix unlocked bootloader that leaked last month had one nagging limitation -- it was only for the AT&T version of Motorola's dual-core device. Now, thanks to the tireless folks who haunt the XDA forums, all of our international friends rockin' the laptop-dockable handset will soon be free of Moto's chains. Project Cheesecake, as the quest was known, has dug up files from a forthcoming Orange UK firmware upgrade that can be applied to any Atrix across the globe. That means even our impatient neighbors to the north on Bell will be able to get in on the unlocking action early. If you can't wait for Motorola to officially get the update out the door, just keep an eye out at the source and ...

Motorola Fire XT316 brings the portrait QWERTY form factor to China now, Europe later
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaFIRE
There’s no kidding about it, but landscape QWERTY sliders are all too common with Android smartphones nowadays, which is evident by prominent devices like the Motorola DROID 3.
Fortunately, the good people of China are being subjected to the still rarely used portrait style QWERTY form factor with the Motorola XT316 – a device that looks similar to the Motorola DROID Pro and XPRT in the US. This affordably priced handset features a 2.8” QVGA display, 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227-1 processor, 3-megapixel camera, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, microSD card slot, 1,420 mAh battery, HSPDA, Wi-Fi, and Moto Switch UI running on top of Android 2.2 Froyo.

Sprint To Finally Launch The Motorola Titanium On July 24th?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaTITANIUM
Remember the Motorola Titanium? No? Don’t worry: it’s been over two months since Sprint announced it. That’s, like, a million years in the gadget world.
For those who need a recap (I did!), the Titanium is a super-rugged followup to last year’s i1, so it’s resistant to dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, the opposite sex, low pressure, and solar radiation — oh, and it’s Android-powered.
As is par for the course these days, Sprint made no mention of pricing or a release date in the original announcement. Fortunately, the guys over at SprintFeed got their hands on the flyer up above, which spills all the relevant beans: it’ll go for $150 after contract, and launch on July 24th.

Droid 3 sadly shipping with locked bootloader
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
Well, we hate to be the bearers of bad news but, looks like the Droid 3 will not be shipping with the unlocked bootloader Motorola promised us. According to a Motorola support forum manager the latest, landscape QWERTY slider from the company is not sporting the new unlockable firmware found on the Xoom. Now, before everyone gets up in arms, lets remember that Moto said it wouldn't be offering the new bootloader till "late 2011," and it's entirely possible the Droid 3 could shed those shackles with a future software update. So, we understand you're a little disappointed but, patience is a virtue friends.

Bad news root crew, the DROID 3 has a locked bootloader
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
It seems like an inevitable outcome that we should have expected once we learned that the DROID 3 would feature an OMAP processor, but it has been confirmed that the DROID 3 has a locked bootloader. The news was confirmed on the Motorola Support Forums this morning by a forums manager named Matt.
Motorola has said that it would be offering software updates to unlock bootloaders starting late in 2011. Unfortunately, it's barely mid-2011 right now, so change is still on the horizon for all except Atrix users, who apparently should have unlocked bootloaders with the Gingerbread update.
Since the DROID 3 is packing an OMAP processor, that means it most likely has eFuse built in which will bric...

Motorola DROID 3 hits Verizon's website, you can get it now for $200
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaVerizon WirelessDROID 3
Update: The official dedicated DROID 3 page went live confirming a price of $200 for the handset with a 2-year contract, or $460 off contract.
You can get the handset online now, or wait until July 14th when it hits retail stores.
We already know pretty much everything about the handset though - it comes with a 4” qHD display and claims to have a 30% faster graphics chip than its predecessor, but it also sports a larger 5-row keyboard supporting Swype. Actually, it's the thinnest full QWERTY smartphone, according to Verizon. In addition, the new handset brags with 27% faster multitasking performance over the DROID 2 Global thanks to its 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP chip. The DROID 3 is a global de...

Motorola DROID Bionic makes appearance in Best Buy ad
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC Etna
A leaked photo of an ad for Best Buy apparently is showing off the re-designed Motorola DROID Bionic. As we reported, Verizon's first dual-core LTE model is expected to launch on August 4th. Unfortunately, the ad doesn't confirm the launch date or reveal a clue about pricing. The phrase "Coming Soon" is placed under the picture of the heavily anticipated phone.
This leaked ad allegedly shows off the long awaited Motorola DROID Bionic
Originally shown to the public at the CES, Motorola pulled the original DROID Bionic and replaced it with a whole new model and a delayed launch. The specs of the device have been rumored to be all over the place. We had told you about a tweet from Motorola th...

Motorola Droid 3 Gets Leaked From 360 Angles
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
Verizon has yet to officially announce Motorola’s Droid 3, but we expect to see that announcement cross the wires in a matter of hours. In fact, we reported along with other sites that the phone should hit shelves on July 14, with pre-order starting July 7. In other words, an official Droid 3 page posting should go down right about now.
When big red finally does get around to posting the Droid 3 page, we’ll get to enjoy the phone from all 360 viewing angles. But until then, the nice folks over at Droid-Life miraculously snagged 360-degree pics a bit early, which we are more than happy to pass along.

Smaller version of the Motorola DROID Pro, the XT316, repeats FCC visit with AT&T bands on board
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID PRO
Back last April, the Motorola XT316 visited the FCC wearing a radio with Chinese 3G bands on board. The handset is said to be a smaller version of the Motorola DROID Pro and the Motorola XPRT currently available at Verizon and Sprint respectively. With its portrait facing QWERTY on the front of the handset right under the screen, the Motorola XT316 has a decidedly BlackBerry-esque look to it.
The Motorola XT316 has just completed a second visit to the Feds, and this time the radio under the hood was loaded up with AT&T's frequencies which gives us a good idea where this phone is headed to. While a visit to the FCC doesn't guarantee an imminent launch for a device, should the Motorola XT316 g...
