Sony posts $350 million loss in Q2 earnings report, forecasts full-year loss
Like UnlikeFiled in: Sony
Sony's Q2 earnings have just come in and, as you might guess, they're not particularly glowing. A few days after announcing plans to buy out Ericsson's stake in Sony Ericsson, the manufacturer posted a quarterly loss of ¥27 billion ($346 million) today, compared with a net income of ¥31.1 billion during the same quarter last year. Last quarter, the firm posted a net loss of ¥15.5 billion, or about $200 million. Sony attributed much of this decline to a stronger yen, lower TV sales and recent flooding in Thailand, which has disrupted its supply chain. On this basis, the company lowered its full year forecast, predicting a net loss of ¥90 billion ($1.2 billion), compared with a net profit of ¥...

Biostar's coveted TPower brand makes a comeback with TPower X79, Biostar's premium overclocking motherboard for the Core i7 "Sandy Bridge-E" platform. TPower motherboards have been known to be a part of some record-setting CPU OC feats right from the days of LGA775. The TPower X79 is another product that's meant for record-setting feats, with its strong VRM and slim feature-set that does away with everything overclockers don't need and adds to the bloat of the motherboard.
The CPU is powered by an 8-phase DuraMax VRM with active phase control and direct FETs. It draws power from two 8-pin EPS connectors, apart from the 24-pin ATX and an optional 4-pin Molex for PCIe slot stability. Apart fr...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Game ConsolesNintendoWii
The Nintendo Wii’s position as the number one casual gaming console went undisputed until the arrival of Xbox Kinect last year. But now Ninty’s top boss reckons that the whole concept of the best-selling console being for casual gamers was a “misunderstanding”. Seems hard to believe, right? Read on and find out just what he had to say.
Satoru Iwata wasn’t shy in telling investors during a conference call about where Nintendo went wrong in the way it marketed the Wii, and to an extent the DS. “There was a misunderstanding that Nintendo was dedicated to [casual] games at some stage of the lifespans of the Wii and the Nintendo DS,” he said.
He added, “…we have not been able to gain adequate con...

If you are a computer gamer, you should have an idea that normal computer peripherals like mice and keyboards are typically really bad for gaming. Keyboards that aren’t meant for gaming are known to leave your character moving thanks to ghosting after you take your fingers off the WASD keys. If you want a cool gaming keyboard, but you are on a budget check out the Raptor LK1.
The keyboard has a normal layout for the keys and has some interesting features I haven’t seen in other keyboards. The new feature is called Fast-Mover Technology. The tech will automatically lock keys when you remove the key tops for gaming. That way you can pull the keys you don’t need and not have to worry that you w...

Phones within this area can be sent a signal that forces them to release their IMSI and IMEI identify codes.
