Lumia 800 to hit the UK on November 16th, Nokia confirms
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 800
We knew that the Lumia 800 would be making its way to the UK sometime in November, but today, that timeline has become slightly more specific. We've just received confirmation that Nokia's "first real Windows Phone" will indeed be available within the UK on November 16th, just a day before Samsung unleashes its Galaxy Nexus handset to British users. Last month, the company confirmed that the device would be priced at €420, though there's no word yet on what that price tag may look like in sterling. As always, we'll let you know as soon as we hear more.

Motorola lands $228 million in fees from unnamed party
Like UnlikeFiled in: Motorola
Motorola Mobility has received $228 million in cash and licensing fees from an unnamed third-party. Based on a settlement reached between RIM and Motorola back in June last year, it seems likely that RIM is the party involved in the transaction. The terms of their agreement specified that RIM would enter into cross-licensing agreements with Motorola and transfer patents relating to cellular data, e-mail and Wi-Fi.
Motorola issued a statement on the matter, however has declined to officially reveal the identity of the third-party:
“The agreement includes provisions for an upfront payment of $175 million from the other company to [Motorola Mobility], future royalties to be paid by the other co...

Asus Transformer Prime release date leaked
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksASUS
An Asus slide has revealed the Asus Transformer Prime release date, which the company has set as 9 November.
Poor old Asus – only its investors were meant to see the slide, which also speaks of its Windows 8 tablet plans and the launch of two new Android slates in the first quarter of 2012.
It's good news for us though, as we'll be seeing the slinky-looking Asus Transformer Prime hit the shelves in just over a week, with plenty of shopping time left before Christmas.
Of course, there's no confirmation that 9 November is the Transformer Prime UK release date, but we'd hope it's a global launch, or that a UK release isn't far behind.

Asus hasn't technically launched the Transfo...

Nokia bringing free Wi-Fi to London
Like UnlikeFiled in: NOKIA
Nokia has announced that it is getting into the free Wi-Fi game with a large-scale trial commencing in London.
The phone giant has teamed up with Spectrum Interactive to offer the new service, which brings 26 free Wi-Fi hotspots to the nation's capital.
If the trial is a success then Nokia is hoping to rollout the technology officially in early 2012.
For the moment though, the trial begins today, lasts for two months and has been put in place to assess how consumers interact with the service, and also to see how much demand there is for free Wi-Fi in London.
Back in October, Starbucks announced a similar initiative, offering Wi-Fi up and down the UK.
Speaking about the trial, John Nichols, H...

LG Revolution 2 could be coming to Verizon as the LG Spectrum
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGVerizon WirelessSpectrum
So what has become of the LG Revolution 2? Popping up only three months after the launch of the first-gen model, the Revolution 2 was rumored to offer a 4.5 inch screen; the device quickly dropped out of the public eye and has been unheard from since. Now, a couple of screenshots show a device called the LG Spectrum in Verizon's computer system.
While there is no smoking gun link to the LG Revolution, note how the LG Spectrum is listed right under the former handset on the first screenshot. Like the LG Revolution, the LG Spectrum is an LTE enabled device and adds global functionality. As far as a launch date and pricing is concerned, we honestly have a paucity of information about this dev...

Samsung requests source code in effort to ban iPhone 4S in Australia
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungAppleiPhone 4s
Samsung recently asked Apple to provide it with source code for the the firmware used in its iPhone 4S, ZDNET reported on Tuesday. The South Korea-based phone maker also asked for details on Apple’s subsidy agreements with Australian carriers Vodafone, Optus and Telstra. The moves were part of an ongoing lawsuit in which Samsung has accused Apple of infringing on three of its patents. Apple believes Samsung has no need to access the information, but Samsung’s lawyer argued that there are fewer subsidies available for Samsung’s products if subsidies are given for the iPhone 4S. Additionally, the source code may be just as important in proving that Apple is infringing on patents. Read on for m...
