Microsoft may have already signed patent licensing agreements with 70 percent of the US Android manufacturers, including some of the biggest names in the market, but that doesn't mean Redmond's about ready to hit the brakes anytime soon. Next up on the block is Pantech, according to a company spokesperson talking with Yonhap News. No specific details have been decided yet, so we'll have to wait for the official word and see what happens.

AT&T announces Pantech Burst and Samsung Exhilarate LTE phones, both cost less than $50

Posted on Jan 10, 2012 by MG1

AT&T just announced at its Developer Summit two LTE phones that will cost less than $50 on contract. First up is the Pantech Burst, which will have a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, and comes in either black or red. There's also the Samsung Exhilarate, which is being described as the first "sustainable" LTE device. AT&T says the phone is constructed from 80 percent recycled post-consumer materials, and it has an Eco calendar and calculator to help you figure out how green (or not) you are.
You'll be able to purchase the Pantech Burst alongside the Element tablet (which was also announced today) for $249.99 if you buy a contract for both devices. Clearly, AT&T is looking to lower the price of ent...

Pantech Element poster spied at AT&T store, launch coming next week for $300?

Pantech Element poster spied at AT&T store, launch coming next week for $300?

Posted on Jan 09, 2012 by MG3

We've had a pretty good inkling that the Pantech Element LTE tablet would make an appearance at CES in the coming days, and our confidence level just rose another notch. It appears that one corporate-owned AT&T store got the official marketing material for the new tablet a few days prior to the device's launch and was a little too eager to put it on display ahead of time. The tipster also spilled the beans on a few specs, lending credence to earlier rumors: it's a waterproof 8-inch tablet with a 1.5GHz CPU, 16GB of internal storage and LTE, and will go for $300 on a two-year commitment ($450 without).

AT&T starts CTIA off right by introducing five new smartphones to its Android lineup

AT&T starts CTIA off right by introducing five new smartphones to its Android lineup

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 by MG1

At CTIA last March, AT&T stole the show by announcing its intent to purchase T-Mobile US. This time around the news is a bit more modest, but the company is still hoping to give us a bit of a shock by introducing a litany of new handsets right on time for the holiday season. The carrier promised the release of 12 Android devices throughout the course of the year, and this week's announcement pushes the 2011 running count to 19. Not too shabby. Naturally, we're looking for quality more than quantity, so we couldn't wait to dig into the devices that are coming out. Check out all five after the break, along with a quick video teaser.

Filed in: Pantech

Here in the US, we haven’t been captivated tremendously by any of Pantech’s devices, especially when they’re mostly basic to mid-range offerings. Well, the perception has changed a little bit after they introduced the LTE enable Pantech Breakout for Verizon, but it’s still categorized as being nothing more than an affordable mid-range Android smartphone.
Thankfully, it looks like the company is seriously beginning to ramp things up a notch, as the Pantech Vega just might be that high-end Android smartphone that we’ve been waiting for them to concoct. For starters, it’s going to be flaunting a sizable 4.5” display with a mind-bending resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels! If that’s not enough to ge...

Pantech Breakout breaks out September 22nd at Verizon; spec sheet and user guide leak

Posted on Sep 15, 2011 by MG1

Verizon's next 4G LTE enabled phone is expected to be the Pantech Breakout and unlike the just released Motorola DROID BIONIC, this handset gives up some of the bells and whistles in exchange for a more affordable price. If 4G is going to be what 3G is now, carriers will have to start offering 4G handsets that the crowd can afford
The official spec sheet
Droid Life was able to get its hand on the official spec sheet for the phone and we can tell you that the Pantech Breakout will have a 4 inch WVGA screen with a single-core 1GHz processor under the hood. A 5MP camera is on the rear capturing video at 720p, while a VGA shooter is in the front. Swipe to type app Swype is pre-installed and the ...

Verizon's Samsung Illusion, Pantech Breakout revealed

Verizon's Samsung Illusion, Pantech Breakout revealed

Posted on Sep 07, 2011 by MG1

Thanks to the savvy ninjas at PocketNow, we have the first real images of two upcoming Verizon smartphones – Pantech Breakout and Samsung Illusion. The first of the two has already been leaked before – it comes with LTE support, 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz single-core processor, 5-megapixel camera on the back, front-facing camera (for video calls), 512MB of RAM, memory card slot and the ability to create a mobile hotspot for up to 10 devices. In other words, it’s like the ThunderBolt or Droid Charge with a smaller screen.
As for the Samsung Illusion, we’ve no idea what it will pack under the hood. Judging by the phone’s model number (SCH-i110), it’s most likely a mid-range device with a single...

Pantech Breakout breaks cover and appears to be yet another 4G LTE smartphone for Verizon

Pantech Breakout breaks cover and appears to be yet another 4G LTE smartphone for Verizon

Posted on Aug 29, 2011 by MG15

Pantech is surely revving things up with their handset offerings, especially now that they’re in the business of producing Android smartphones, but we’re getting our first look at what appears to be their upcoming LTE enabled device.

Looking at the leaked screenshot showing the Pantech Breakout for Verizon below, we’re given a small peek at the design of the handset, but more importantly, it’s showing support for 4G LTE connection. However, it’s unclear at this point if it’s the same device as the Pantech Apache, which was seen over at the FCC of late.

All AT&T Android Phones Released In 2011 Will Get Gingerbread

All AT&T Android Phones Released In 2011 Will Get Gingerbread

Posted on Jul 26, 2011 by MG1

The HTC Status might be a sort-of-weird, kind-of-gimmicky (with its dedicated Facebook button and all) little piece of kit, but it’s got at least one thing going for it: it’s the only phone on AT&T running on the latest (phone-friendly) version of Android: v2.3, or “Gingerbread”. Not for long, though.
AT&T has just confirmed that all of the Android phones they released in 2011 will be getting the Gingerbread upgrade treatment.
The phones AT&T confirmed:
HTC Inspire 4G
LG Phoenix
Motorola Atrix 4G
Pantech Crossover
Samsung Captivate
Samsung Infuse 4G
That sure looks like all of AT&T’s 2011 Android line up so far, to me. Anyone spot anything that’s missing?
For those of you whose pre-2011 AT&T...
