An LTE handset on Verizon's network that doesn't feature a 4.3-inch display or a price tag that starts with a two or a three? Why, that would be the Pantech Breakout. The latest 4G phone on Big Red has finally been welcomed into the fold, available and ready to persuade more people to experience blazing-fast mobile broadband without frantically digging themselves out of debt. To recap, the Breakout features Android 2.3, a 1GHz single-core CPU and 512MB of RAM, 5 megapixel rear camera accompanied by a VGA front-facing cam and 720p HD video capture, a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) TFT LCD and a 1,500mAh juicepack. Pantech Breakout is the latest 4G LTE smartphone for Verizon

Pantech and Verizon Wireless have announced the manufacturer's first 4G LTE smartphone, the Breakout. The Breakout is also the first LTE smartphone to be available for under $100 at launch.
Featuring a 4-inch, WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) display, the Breakout is powered by a single-core, 1GHz processor. It has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) video capture, along with a VGA front-facing camera for video calling. Pantech and Verizon are including an 8GB microSD card with the Breakout as well.

Verizon's next 4G LTE enabled phone is expected to be the Pantech Breakout and unlike the just released Motorola DROID BIONIC, this handset gives up some of the bells and whistles in exchange for a more affordable price. If 4G is going to be what 3G is now, carriers will have to start offering 4G handsets that the crowd can afford

Thanks to the savvy ninjas at PocketNow, we have the first real images of two upcoming Verizon smartphones – Pantech Breakout and Samsung Illusion. The first of the two has already been leaked before – it comes with LTE support, 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz single-core processor, 5-megapixel camera on the back, front-facing camera (for video calls), 512MB of RAM, memory card slot and the ability to create a mobile hotspot for up to 10 devices. In other words, it’s like the ThunderBolt or Droid Charge with a smaller screen.

Pantech is surely revving things up with their handset offerings, especially now that they’re in the business of producing Android smartphones, but we’re getting our first look at what appears to be their upcoming LTE enabled device.

Looking at the leaked screenshot showing the Pantech Breakout for Verizon below, we’re given a small peek at the design of the handset, but more importantly, it’s showing support for 4G LTE connection. However, it’s unclear at this point if it’s the same device as the Pantech Apache, which was seen over at the FCC of late.
