LG continues to announce an array of new smartphones ahead of next week’s Mobile World Congress trade show. On Wednesday, the company unveiled its follow up to the original Optimus 3D, the Optimus 3D Max. The handset is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP4430 processor beneath a 4.3-inch 3D WVGA display that is protected by Corning’s second-generation Gorilla Glass. The Optimus 3D Max also features 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel duel-lens 3D rear camera, 3D video editing capabilities and NFC, and it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. LG Optimus LTE Tag with NFC announced in Korea

LG Optimus LTE Tag with NFC announced in Korea

Posted on Feb 21, 2012 by MG1

LG announced another LTE-enabled Android smartphone – Optimus LTE Tag. Initially available in South Korea only, the new phone is pretty much on par with Samsung Galaxy S II’s feature set, though LG’s device has a 5-megapixel camera (whereas the SGS2′s camera counts 8 megapixels). Heck, since it comes in white, we can’t say it doesn’t look similar to Sammy’s smartphone — then again, all modern phones look the same, sporting a huge touchscreen with very few buttons beneath.
Anyway, the Optimus LTE Tag comes with a 4.3-inch WVGA IPS touchscreen, mentioned 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing one, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1,700 mAh battery, 16GB of built-in memory, while...

LG teaser could be for a new smartphone, or just about anything else

LG teaser could be for a new smartphone, or just about anything else

Teasers – what a clever way for companies to build up hype around their products and services! The latest one comes straight from the official LG Facebook page and hints at something that could be a new smartphone, or just about anything else. There aren't any clues as to what LG is about to unveil, just hints that it has something to do with the letter L.
"GenuineLy Compassionate. Esteemed VaLue. Perfection with DetaiLs. TimeLess FuLfiLLment." – sounds like something right out of a Myst video game, doesn't it? Four seemingly meaningless tag lines with capitalized L-s.
One wild guess that we could make is that there is a new smartphone coming soon, perhaps known as LG Optimus L. We have seen...

LG unveiled a new logo for its Optimus smartphones (and tablets), designed to “accentuate the metallic edges and slim shape of the 2012 smartphone line-up.” Moreover, the logo is said to “embody modern and seamless simplicity,” which is apparently the core for LG’s design philosophy for mobile devices.
And the new logo is just a start – the Korean company is also preparing to launch “superior smartphones” that “bring design prestige” to users seeking aesthetic beauty on technological devices.

It is said to be packing a 4-inch WVGA NOVA display, which should sparkle somewhat, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 8GB of storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera that can shoot 720p video and a VGA front-facing webcam.

LG P880 and P700 Android smartphones discovered, MWC debut sounds plausible

Posted on Feb 03, 2012 by MG1

Filed in: Cell PhonesLG

It appears that someone who had too much spare time at their disposal has discovered a pair of new LG Android smartphones. The handsets in question, known only as the LG P880 and the LG P700 at this time, have passed UPnP certification on February 1.
The P880 is likely to be a high-end smartphone judging by the fact that it is allegedly equipped with a 1280 by 720 HD display. Providing the processing power is a TI OMAP 44x0 processor accompanied by 1 gigabyte of RAM. In terms of software, the smartphone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Besides, it is possible that the smartphone we are dealing with is the LG X3, which we heard of not long ago.
As far as the P700 is concerned, it is said ...

Your wait is over with Rogers and LG rolling out the new software as we speak, while all new customers will get the device with Android 2.3.5 preloaded.

Are these 6 T-Mobile models nearing their "End of Life"?

Posted on Jan 31, 2012 by MG1

It is the end of January and this time every year, carriers' thoughts start turning to making room on the shelves for the new batch of handsets that are coming. With MWC less than a month away, and a new batch of the most-up-to date models about to be displayed, TmoNews has obtained a leaked screenshot of an internal T-Mobile document. The document shows some devices on Controlled Distribution with no plans to replenish depleted inventories of these phones. The half-dozen Android models include three models manufactured by HTC which might actually get a little more time considering that the carrier continues to advertise some of them. The remaining three LG models are ones that not too many ...

LG Begins Mass Production of 55EM9600 HDTVs

LG Begins Mass Production of 55EM9600 HDTVs

Posted on Jan 30, 2012 by MG3

At CES, LG unveiled their very first OLED HDTV, the 55EM9600. This 55 inch display is the first large screen OLED TV. It can display a native HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a 100000000:1 contrast ratio, and 3D technology. Today, the company announced that they will be starting mass production of the TVs as early as July 2012. The displays will be produced at their 8.5-Gen plant and expect to ship out about 48000 TVs each month. This also means that customers could see TVs hit the retail markets as early as the 3rd quarter of 2012. Unfortunately, LG has yet to announce a specific release date.

LG Optimus LTE sales break 1 million units, took 3 months to do it

LG Optimus LTE sales break 1 million units, took 3 months to do it

Posted on Jan 26, 2012 by MG1

LG has just announced that the Optimus LTE has sold more than 1 million units. At fist glance that sounds like an awesome achievement, but looking at the numbers closely reveals some incredibly lackluster sales. First, the device went on sale in October 2011, meaning it’s been out on the market for 3 months. That would mean less than 350,000 units sold per month. Second, LG specially says that the device sold 600,000 units in South Korea. That would mean just 400,000 units left to be split among the three other countries where the device is available: the United States, Canada, and Japan. Forgetting about Canada and Japan for a second (such an American thing to say!), assume those 400,000 un...

LG’s Quad-Core 2012 Flagship Leaks: The Poorly Code-Named X3

LG’s Quad-Core 2012 Flagship Leaks: The Poorly Code-Named X3

Posted on Jan 25, 2012 by MG3

Filed in: Cell PhonesLG

Other than the LG Spectrum, LG didn’t have much to show off by way of phones at this year’s CES show. But that doesn’t mean that something special isn’t in the works.
In fact, Pocketnow reports that LG’s 2012 flagship will run a Tegra 3 quad-core chipset and go by the name X3, at least for now. The phone likely won’t show up on store shelves until spring or summer, but we should hear an announcement (including a retail name) come Mobile World Congress in February.
Other specs include Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which will be a must with most phones released this spring, 16GB of memory (with an SD card slot), and camera fun for everyone. By that I mean an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera an...

LG Optimus Black Gingerbread update rolling out in Europe and India

Posted on Jan 25, 2012 by MG3

You know how they say – better late than never. That seems to be exactly what LG is thinking when it finally decided to release a Gingerbread update for its Optimus Black smartphone. Not sure why it took them so long, but the good thing is that the new Android version is now available to download. Actually, we’re hearing only users in Europe and India can grab Android 2.3.4, while the rest of the world will have to wait for few more days/weeks (we’re not sure).

LG Optimus 3D 2 images leak

LG Optimus 3D 2 images leak

Posted on Jan 24, 2012 by MG1

Images and specs of a new LG phone codenamed the “CX2″ were recently leaked. The phone is thought to possibly be the successor to the Optimus 3D and may be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona next month. Pocketnow, which leaked the image and specs, says the CX2 sports a dual-core Texas Instruments processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a NOVA display capable of displaying 3D content, a 5-megapixel camera capable of snapping 3D photos, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC and support for 21Mbps HSPA+ networks. The phone could launch as soon as this spring, but unfortunately the phone is said to run on Google’s older Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system rather than Ice ...
