Verizon Wireless today announced the LG Revere, a new feature phone that hits Verizon's web site August 11 and Verizon's stores August 18 for $49.99 after rebates with a new contract. It is a compact flip phone that has dual displays and austere looks. The Revere has a simple list of features, which includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, voice commands, GPS navigation, social networking and messaging apps, as well as a browser.

End of July we carried a rumor saying that Verizon will launch the SamsungS2 today, August 12. August 12 is still young, but I do not expect Verizon to announce anything today about the S2. If the sale of the highly anticipated Galaxy S2 would to be started today, Verizon would have announced that earlier this week.

Verizon is preparing to launch an Android phone targeted towards women, the HTC Bliss. The device comes in a “pretty” seafoam-like green, and will include a dangling charm that lights up when you have a missed call or new message.
Oh, and here’s the best part – the phone is also rumored to ship with special women-friendly apps, like a calorie counter and an app for shopping.

Published on Wednesday by IGN, the roadmap reveals numerous previously unheard of devices. While details are scarce for the time being, several highly anticipated phones are mentioned on the document as well, alongside launch dates.

A person who claims to be a Verizon employee has leaked a roadmap for the carrier. The information covers 9 devices from September to January and let's start with the smartphone on the tip of every Verizon customer's tongue-the Motorola DROID Bionic. Thanks to comments from Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha, we have been looking for a September launch of the much anticipated phone, and according to the roadmap it will be September 8th when the beast is let loose. We reported yesterday on the specs of the device straight from Motorola, so now all that is left to surprise us with is the price.

The Samsung Fascinate has apparently reached End of Life with Verizon, as it has a telling stamp "Retired" on the listing, and has disappeared from the online store.

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S version that was the Fascinate was one of the best Android handsets you can get on Big Red at the time it hit shelves last year. It had a good run, if we don't count some bugs and the belated Froyo update, plus it is expected to receive Gingerbread as well, but now it has to move over and hail a new king.
Hopefully this Samsung Fascinate retirement only means that the Samsung Galaxy S II version for Verizon is nearing its announcement and launch. We've heard rumors about the handset being called bot...

The DROID Bionic was a hot announcement during CES, and we really couldn’t wait to get our hands on one. However, we didn’t realize that the spec-packed Android handset would take several months to hit the market. We’re now hearing that the DROID Bionic isn’t going to arrive until early September – what gives?

Activations of Apple’s popular iPhone 4 handset slowed significantly at Verizon Wireless last quarter. The nation’s No. 1 carrier reported its second-quarter earnings early Friday morning, at which time it revealed its latest iPhone numbers. Verizon Wireless activated 2.3 million iPhone 4 units in its June quarter for an average of just under 177,000 phones each week. In the first quarter, Verizon Wireless activated 2.2 million iPhones, but the device had been available for just seven weeks in the quarter. Verizon Wireless has cut the price of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to just $99.99 with a new two-year contract. The Xperia Play was announced in February and is the first smartphone to offer access to games from the PlayStation Suite. It runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and packs a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 4-inch 480 x 854 resolution display. It also features a full slide-out gamepad with PSP-style gaming buttons. In our recent review we called the Xperia Play “one of the most enjoyable game-focused smartphones we’ve ever used.”

Verizon Wireless today announced the LG Cosmos 2, a new messaging phone that has a full QWERTY keyboard, built-in social media applications, and a new email client. The Cosmos 2 includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, media player, document viewer, and support for rudimentary group messaging. The Cosmos 2 has a 3.5mm headset jack, and accepts microSD cards up to 32GB. It goes on sale Juiy 14 for $29.99 after rebates with new agreement.
