Firefox for Android redesigned for Honeycomb tablets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid 3.0
Firefox for Android has been updated to version 9.0 which brings a number of improvements to the browser, not least of which is a redesign for Honeycomb Android tablets. The increased speed of updates with Firefox has led to some less than impressive version jumps on the desktop version, but this update for mobile looks like it's worth the version number jump.
As always, Firefox for Android has been working hard to make startup faster, so that's the first on the list of improvements in this update. Another really cool feature is that websites will now be able to access your mobile device's camera, which could lead to some pretty interesting options. But, the big change this time around is a...

Grand Theft Auto III headed to iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and Android
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsTabletsAppleGoogleAndroid 3.0iPad 2iPhone 4s
Grand Theft Auto III is a game us Pocket-linters remember with great affection. We have so many fantastic memories of tearing through one of the first ever truly open world games, wrecking every car in our path and generally smashing people to pieces.
Since then, the GTA series has continued to innovate. Chinatown Wars is one of the best gaming apps currently available on iOS, its top down open world adventuring being quite unlike anything else on smartphones or tablets. It never, however, quite achieved the levels of greatness that were possible in GTA III, leaving our iPhones and iPads free from the joys of decimating liberty city.

Cyanogenmod releases first Android for TouchPad edition
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsTabletsHPGoogleAndroid 3.0TouchPad
Cyanogenmod, the modding community working on a port of Android for the orphaned HP TouchPad, has released its first round of software for the tablet.
As you might expect with a name like "Lower your expectations", the Android Honeycomb software takes the form of a very early, reasonably bug-ridden build that means its not really ideal for regular users.
Still, there will be some brave types among you (probably the ones who got their TouchPad for £90) that won't be put off.

Google Docs Android app updated, looking beautiful on Honeycomb tablets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid 3.0
Google rolled out an Android application for its Google Docs web service and since then it has been actively working on not only changing the layout for the web version of Docs, but also its Android version. The latest update brings entirely new visuals to the app. It comes with a three-pane layout for Honeycomb tablets, lists of documents, collections and document previews.
The panel on the left displays a preview of the documents you’ve selected but it also gives a quick peek at the people who have access to that exact document. The app now looks very mature with nice little touches like autocomplete in forms. The new features come translated in more than 46 languages.

A month ago on the dot, we reported that Dell was firmly committed to getting the beloved tablet-optimized platform in Honeycomb to its Dell Streak 7 – even more when units were spotted running a build of Honeycomb at the most recent IFA tradeshow.
Well, it appears as though that some Dell Streak 7 owners are getting the update just a little bit earlier than the rumored date of October 7th – though, some are reporting different stories in regards to its installation process.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich nears release: phones will be able to install Honeycomb apps
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid 3.0Android 3.1
Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is the upcoming major redefinition of Google’s mobile platform and while we don’t know what it will look like, we already know that ICS will run on all kinds of screen sizes - from small to large and covering everything in between. Thanks to a post on Android Developers, we also have a pretty good idea of how apps will behave in ICS with the biggest change coming to Honeycomb apps which devs are adviced to make compatible with smaller screen sizes in a single APK.
Basically, this puts an end to the confusion whether an app would or wouldn’t work on a handset. Since ICS is compatible with both phones and tablets, a developer having a Honeycomb-only app would h...

Images appear of Honeycomb on HTC Flyer
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsTabletsHTCGoogleAndroid 3.0Flyer
It was only a couple of days ago that a RUU (ROM update utility) leaked online that contained an early build of Android Honeycomb to the HTC Flyer, but now the guys over at XDA have turned that RUU into a flashable ROM.
The screenshots show what Honeycomb looks on the HTC Flyer with the Sense user interface. It is very similar looking to the HTC Jetstream currently available on AT&T. At the moment, this ROM is not quite ready to get pushed out to Flyer owners everywhere. However, it is nice to see that it is possible in the future.
When this ROM becomes available will any of you HTC Flyer owners jump at the chance to put it on your tablet? Keep in mind that you would have to root it if you...

Mozilla launches its long awaited Firefox app for Honeycomb tablets
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid 3.0
Mozilla announced the launch of its long-awaited Firefox app for Honeycomb tablets, which will “show the evolution of its phone based predecessor,” with some added enhancements. This new app, allows users to take advantage of the “Awesome Bar,” a tool that provides quick access to your favorite sites and bookmarks from within the URL bar.
Besides its Android Honeycomb look, app users will find no change in trademark Firefox UI details like the back button. Another noteworthy enhancement is the cool “tabs” interface that switches from sidebar to drop-down tabs menu based on which way you’re holding the device; the company put in a lot of effort in hiding all of its UI elements to free up the ...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsDellGoogleAndroid 3.0

Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsTabletsLGGoogleAndroid 3.0G-Slate
Not to be forgotten amongst the heap of newer Honeycomb tablets that are on the market, the 3D video recording capable T-Mobile G-Slate is more than likely to start receiving its Honeycomb 3.1 tasting tomorrow; August 10th.
Actually, LG says that they’ll be rolling it out some time today, but device owners would more than likely see it come in tomorrow – especially when it’s being rolled out in waves. Either way, it’s expected to arrive over the course of the next few days for the majority of people.
As we all know, Android 3.1 Honeycomb isn’t a dramatic upgrade, but rather, T-Mobile G-Slate owners will find the host of improvements to be more than satisfactory in the near term. In fact, it ...

Logitech Revue gets unofficial Honeycomb Android update
Like UnlikeFiled in: Digital Media PlayersOperating SystemsLogitechGoogleRevueAndroid 3.0
I’ve never been the sort that was willing to risk running one of my gadgets applying unofficial software and updates. I tend to make do with what OS my gear is running until the official update finally comes out. If you are the sort that likes to apply beta software and unofficial updates to your gadgets and use a Logitech Revue set-top box you may like the unofficial update.
The geeks at GTVHackers have built an unofficial Honeycomb Android OS upgrade specifically for the Revue. The upgrade can be downloaded right now. There is a catch though, the update could ruin your device and you might not be able to revert to the official OS. The update is a beta offering and is not ready for the gene...
