Logitech's Q3 2012 report confirms Revue is sold out, Harmony remote refresh 'in the coming months'

Logitech's Q3 2012 report confirms Revue is sold out, Harmony remote refresh 'in the coming months'

Posted on Jan 30, 2012 by MG3

Logitech's Q3 earnings for the 2012 fiscal year don't have many surprises since the company already revealed it was dropping out of the Google TV team. In prepared remarks, company management confirmed it is completely sold out of new units, closing the door on any users still trying to nab a $99 Revue (who shouldn't be too heartbroken, since Vizio is promising a second gen unit is on the way at the same price). There is promise however, if you're looking for a new Harmony remote model, while interim CEO Guerrino De Luca says the company is late in providing a successor to the best selling Harmony One and other models, resulting in a 30 percent drop in sales, it plans to strengthen the lineu...

Logitech Revue gets a second Honeycomb leak

Logitech Revue gets a second Honeycomb leak

Posted on Sep 15, 2011 by MG1

In Google TV news another Honeycomb build for the Logitech Revue Google TV has been leaked. We saw Honeycomb for the Revue first leaked in August but that brought many bugs as well as the loss of Netflix. I’m happy to report this newest leaked build not only runs better but Netflix is back and ready to go. We have a full 8 minute video teaser for you after the break.
While it’s not perfect and still very much a work in progress. This does show that the project is moving along nicely because the video looks pretty impressive. Honeycomb on the Revue runs smooth, fluid, and stable other than a few minor hiccups and the fact we have Netflix back is a major plus too. Lets get right to it, here is...

Logitech Revue gets unofficial Honeycomb Android update

Logitech Revue gets unofficial Honeycomb Android update

Posted on Aug 02, 2011 by MG1

I’ve never been the sort that was willing to risk running one of my gadgets applying unofficial software and updates. I tend to make do with what OS my gear is running until the official update finally comes out. If you are the sort that likes to apply beta software and unofficial updates to your gadgets and use a Logitech Revue set-top box you may like the unofficial update.
The geeks at GTVHackers have built an unofficial Honeycomb Android OS upgrade specifically for the Revue. The upgrade can be downloaded right now. There is a catch though, the update could ruin your device and you might not be able to revert to the official OS. The update is a beta offering and is not ready for the gene...

Logitech slashes its Revue price to $99 «

Logitech slashes its Revue price to $99 «

Posted on Jul 29, 2011 by MG1

After a net loss of $29.6 million for the first quarter, it seems like Logitech wants its Revue, which was the first Google TV device, to be able to take a bigger share of the market from its competitor, the Apple TV, during the second quarter.
Today Logitech announced that its device that launched at a steep $300 will now be competitively priced at just $99.
With the first generation, unproven platform, not enough for the consumers to justify a purchase, hopefully this price drop and the update coming sometime this summer with Android Honeycomb 3.1 and Android Market support, can save it from the ashes.
Although Logitech, Best Buy and Amazon are still showing the device at $250, look for th...

Google TV 2.0 Coming to Logitech Revue This Summer

Google TV 2.0 Coming to Logitech Revue This Summer

Posted on Jun 23, 2011 by MG3

For many, the deal breaker for the Logitech Revue and other Google TV products was two words: IR blaster. Opting to act as a supplement to your current home theater set-up rather than a replacement for a cable/satellite set-top box, the device was hamstrung by a somewhat complicated set-up process. But this was never about the hardware, the workhorse of this product was the Android-based OS behind it all. Bringing the web to the TV has been a concept bouncing around the consumer electronics industry years, and Google’s effort leveraged the Chrome browser to bring any content to your living room. The execution, though solid, failed to meet expectations; primarily because there seemed to be so...
