Adobe Lightroom 3.5 will support Olympus, Panasonic and Sony RAW formats
Like UnlikeFiled in: CamerasSonyPanasonicOlympus
Possessing a camera with RAW output is great, but working with those data-rich files often isn't -- not least because most manufacturers use proprietary file formats. However, Lightroom fans who update to version 3.5 (currently at release candidate stage) should discover that it effortlessly handles RAW images from a bunch of recent cameras including the Olympus E-P3 and E-PL3, Panasonic G3 and GF3, and the Sony Alpha NEX-C3 The update will also fix a number of bugs, such as inconsistent processing times and a loss of geo-tagging metadata when converting to Adobe's Digital Negative format. Time to get those psychedelic HDR images flowing.

With an MSRP of $3,499 it appears set to continue Panasonic's well-regarded line of midrange home theater projectors, check after the break for the press release with all of the specs.

Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and XpanD finally team up for an active 3D glasses standard
Like UnlikeFiled in: SonySamsungPanasonic
The lack of a universal standard for active shutter 3D glasses became painfully clear during our 3D TV shootout last year, and gave plenty of reasons for buyers to skip the pricey specs altogether. Nine months later we see that LG has jumped onto passive 3D and CEA is playing catch up on the IR glasses problem, but many of the new HDTVs for 2011 are using Bluetooth technology to keep their glasses in sync -- again without any promise of cross-manufacturer compatibility. A day late and a few dollars short, Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and universal glasses maker XpanD are announcing the "Full HD Glasses Initiative" which should lay down a standard for consumer active shutter glasses to communicat...

Panasonic unveils new PT-AE7000U full HD 3D home theater projector
Like UnlikeFiled in: ProjectorsPanasonicPT-AE7000U
Panasonics has home theater gear ranging from TVs to Blue-ray players and projectors. The line of home theater projectors has grown by one-step today with the unveiling of the new Panasonic PT-AE7000U projector. The new projector is interesting because it offers full HD resolution and 3D in one unit. Many of the 3D projectors out there are only 720p.
The new projector is the first 3D unit in the world to use transparent LCD panels at 480Hz with the Panasonic overdrive tech to reduce cross talk and improve photo quality. Other than being the first to use these LCD panels, the new projector also has some cool features like a 300,000:1 contrast ratio and 2,000 lumens of brightness. The unit als...

Panasonic Raboo UT-PB1 e-reader gets official, acts more like a tablet
Like UnlikeFiled in: Ebook ReadersPanasonicRaboo UT-PB1
Panasonic already took its UT-PB1 e-reader out for a step-and-repeat at the e-Book Expo Tokyo this year, but kept some important details under wraps. Now the tablet e-reader is ready for its official coming out party. The 7-inch, color touchscreen Raboo UT-PB1 is set to launch in Japan on August 10th, retailing at about ¥34,800 (that's $444) and packing 600 plus "pre-viewable books." There's an Android OS running on an unspecified dual-core CPU under that book-mimicking surface with the company's own UI slathered all over it -- so there'll be no tablet-esque shenanigans here, yet. The 400 gram (14 ounce) handheld also comes furnished with 8GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSDHC, support f...

Panasonic Points Fingers on Who Ruined 3D
Like UnlikeFiled in: Panasonic
One of the biggest fads in the theater industry has been the wave of 3D movies. Unfortunately though, it looks like the technology will never be anything more than a fad. Movie viewers are starting to turn their back on 3D films and that causes a drop in sales. Panasonic is one of the biggest supporters of 3D technology and are starting to point fingers at the movie studios as the blame for the downfall. The company claims that because studios rushed movies to receive a 3D conversion, the movies looked rather poor and actually contributed to customers’ distaste for 3D. The only saving grace for 3D is the few jewels like Avatar that have truly shown what 3D movies should look like. But with A...
