While owners of the Motorola ATRIX 4G for AT&T in the U.S. have been basking in Gingerbread glory since last month, it looks like their European counterparts will have to wait quite a bit longer before the Christmas cookie version of Android arrives for them.
In an update on its official Facebook page today, Motorola's European division said that it expects to "begin rolling out the Android 2.3 upgrade in Europe in early Q4." More details on timing and carriers would be provided as they become available.

Motorola DROID Bionic appears in Best Buy Buyer's Guide, still no price or launch date

Posted on Aug 19, 2011 by MG3

Like sands through an hourglass, these are the slow moving 'Days before the Motorola DROID Bionic launch'. It's not like we are not seeing more and more confirmation of the specs, such as the 4.3 inch qHD display, or the 1GHz dual-core processor or the 8MP camera on back that captures video at 1080p. It's just that time seems to be moving slowly when it comes to the DROID Bionic. And while the latest leak shows the phone in Best Buy's latest circular, there is still no mention of a launch date or price.

After Microsoft, it's Nokia's turn to scare the Android masses over the Google-Motorola deal

Posted on Aug 18, 2011 by MG3

After Microsoft's Andy Lees said the other day that Windows Phone is now the only "equal opportunity" platform, referring to the Google-Motorola deal, it is a turn of the company that actually stand to enjoy preferable treatment by Redmond to chime in.
Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop, speaking at a seminar in Helsinki, tried to make the other Android manufacturers worried in his turn. "If I happened to be someone who was an Android manufacturer or an operator, or anyone with a stake in that environment, I would be picking up my phone and calling certain executives at Google and say 'I see signs of danger ahead'", said Mr Elop.

Filed in: MotorolaGoogle

Motorola Mobility shareholder John W. Keating has filed a lawsuit accusing Motorola's CEO Sanjay Jha, Motorola's board of directors, and members of Google's board of directors for violating their fiduciary duty by agreeing to a sale price of $12.5 billion. The price, valued at $40 per share, represents a 63% increase over the closing price of Motorola's stock on August 12. Keating says that Motorola's executives did not fetch the best possible price for the company, and that the deal undervalues Motorola. "The offered consideration does not compensate shareholders for the company’s intrinsic value and stand-alone alternatives going forward, nor does it compensate shareholders for the company...

Company chair Lee Kun-hee reportedly urged management to improve its software engineer ranks to the point where buying companies might be needed. The Korean executive cast it as a fundamental shift of power in Android that Samsung had to resist, Yonhap said.

We've just received a fascinating set of photos from a sharp-eyed tipster, who sent along images of what appear to be Motorola's Droid Bionic and, most alluringly, that rumored handset known as the Droid HD (pictured above). This isn't the first time we've seen leaked images of the Bionic in the wild, but these shots are certainly a lot clearer than any others we've come across. Still, there aren't too many surprises here, with the global-capable handset boasting a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 4.5-inch display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and microUSB / HDMI ports.

The real intrigue, however, lies with the Droid HD. Judging from the photos, this device seems to be running Gi...

In a post penned by Larry Page on Google’s company blog, the CEO explains why Google decided to shell out $12.5 billion to purchase smartphone vendor Motorola Mobility. While Page had plenty to say about Motorola’s extensive history and its leading role in Android’s explosive growth, he also points to what many believe to be one of the leading factors behind the deal: patents. “We recently explained how companies including Microsoft and Apple are banding together in anti-competitive patent attacks on Android,” the CEO wrote on Google’s blog. “The U.S. Department of Justice had to intervene in the results of one recent patent auction to ‘protect competition and innovation in the open source s...

Google and Motorola Mobility have announced an agreement whereby Google will acquire Motorola for $12.5 billion. The acquisition price equates to $40 per share of Motorola stock, or a premium of 63% over Friday’s closing price. The move is considered to be an effort that will better-align Google to compete with Apple’s iPhone, which owned two-thirds of profits among the world’s top-8 smartphone vendors in the second quarter. A Google-owned hardware arm will be able to hold complete control over device hardware, software and services, resulting in an end-to-end user experience that is completely under Google’s control. “Motorola Mobility’s total commitment to Android has created a natural fit...
