Sprint restarts Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for LG Optimus S
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGSprintOptimus S
Way back in September of last year, Sprint released the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus S smartphone. Unfortunately, it was pulled shortly after launch because users were reporting a number of bugs with the update. This left Optimus S users confused and bewildered as to where their Android 2.3 Gingerbread update went. Well, here we are nearly seven months later, and Sprint says that it will relaunch the update starting on Wednesday of this week. In addition to the improvements that come with Android 2.3, Sprint says the update also includes fixes for device charging, an SD card unmounting error, the device not being recognized by Windows SP, Vista, or 7 operating systems, a...

LG Optimus S to resume Gingerbread update on April 4th
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsLGGoogleOptimus SAndroid 2.3
Back last September, Sprint started rolling out the Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus S. But the update had to be halted when owners of the device started having some issues. Some owners were having problems recharging their phone or connecting to data. Other problems included the failure of predictive text to appear while typing on the virtual QWERTY, an incorrect message would appear stating that the microSD card is unmounted, and when connected to a PC, the device was unrecognized by Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7

New Images Of LG Windows Phone LS831 Emerges
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsLGMicrosoftWindows Phone 7.5
While we are still not sure about LG releasing another Windows Phone 7.5 device, there were numerous leaks on their devices/prototypes. This one is LS831 which we saw in last October when it passed the FCC. The device design looks outdated to me and it has a 5MP camera along with a front cam. Since it features a CDMA band, it should release only on Sprint in US if there is any possibility. Visit the source link for more images.

LG Lucid 4G specs leak
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGLucid
The LG Lucid 4G, aka the LG Cayman, had been seen earlier this month in a rendering. We also were able to get a clue as to when to expect this mid-range device to be rolled out, which is March 29th. The LG Lucid 4G will be equipped with a 4 inch WVGA Nova IPS-LCD display with a brightness of 700 nit and a pixel density of 233 ppi. Driving the device is a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. No mention of RAM appears in the leak, but we would expect 1GB based on the other specs. 8GB of internal storage is on the device which can be increased to 40GB using a 32GB microSD card. A 1700mAh battery keeps the LG Lucid 4G running while the 5MP AF camera captures video at 1080p. For self portraits and video c...

Samsung, LG and others fined $40 million in Korean price-fixing scam
Like UnlikeFiled in: SamsungLG
Korean regulators on Thursday fined domestic mobile phone manufacturers and carriers 45.3 billion won (roughly $40.2 million) for price-fixing and consumer fraud. According to the Fair Trade Commission, the companies secretly agreed to inflate the prices of cell phones while advertising offers with considerable incentives. The companies’ actions apparently tricked consumers into thinking they were buying a new phone for a bargain. “Companies took advantage of the complicated price setting practice in the mobile telecommunications sector to trick consumers,” an FTC official said. The Korea Times reported that Samsung, LG, Pantech, SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus have all been find for their role ...

LG Optimus Vu launches in Korea, gets priced
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus Vu
LG's 5-inch smartphone has finally arrived -- at least over in Korea. While 4:3 ratio display raised a few eyebrows during its debut at MWC, the IPS display, lightweight frame and stylus has us chasing after a review model to give it the full run-down. Anyone in LG's homeland can beat us to the punch -- it's now on sale priced just under the Galaxy Note, a device that's been around for a few months. Expect to pay 990,000 won ($890) for a carrier-free version, but importers should 'note' that they won't be able to take advantage of that built-in TV tuner. We're still sniffing out details on prices and launch dates for the US. Hopefully, the international model will arrive with a rubberdium st...

Mozilla teams up with LG for a mysterious device, aims to rival Apple and Google
Like UnlikeFiled in: LGAppleGoogle
Mozilla has teamed up with none other than LG for the release of its first mobile device at MWC 2012, a “source close to the matter” confirmed for ExtremeTech. What’s more - Mozilla CTO and creator of JavaScript Brendan Eich said there will be multiple partners, not just one partnership announced at the show.
The Mozilla-LG phone is expected to be powered by Mozilla’s brand new Boot to Gecko (B2G) operating system, which should strengthen Firefox’s position in the battle of browsers. The actual device will be aimed at developers, not the mass user initially.
There are no further details about specs or price of the upcoming device, but it’s allegedly possible for it to go on sale as soon as ...

Mozilla rumored to debut LG-made Boot to Gecko device at MWC
Like UnlikeFiled in: LG
Mozilla hasn't exactly been quiet about the fact that it has some big stuff to show off at Mobile World Congress. We've already gotten a peek at Boot to Gecko and it's announced it'll be joining the app market fray. But, what we haven't heard anything about just yet, is hardware. A mobile operating system and software outlet are only useful if you've got a physical platform to run it on. Now rumors are circulating that LG is in cahoots with the makers of Firefox and will be building developer hardware for its fledgling OS. Mozilla CTO Brendan Eich has said publicly his foundation will be at MWC with "partners..." plural. Who exactly those ally companies are isn't clear, but we'd say it's saf...

LG Optimus 4X HD announced with quad-core Tegra 3, Android 4.0
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus 4X HD
Whether you're ready for a deluge of quad-core Android handsets or not, LG is getting things started with the Optimus 4X HD. Inside, its Nvidia Tegra 3 processor is clocked at 1.5GHz, sits behind a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 IPS display, and within an 8.9mm-thin body. Thankfully, it will launch with Android 4.0, which should sing quite nicely on the quad-core chip along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. If you weren't aware, Tegra three actually offers a "companion core" with its "4-plus-1" setup that can be used in low power situations to help the phone sip on the 2150mAh battery instead of gulp at it, extending battery life. DLNA and MHL are also on board along with the obvious 8-mega...
