A month ago on the dot, we reported that Dell was firmly committed to getting the beloved tablet-optimized platform in Honeycomb to its Dell Streak 7 – even more when units were spotted running a build of Honeycomb at the most recent IFA tradeshow.
Well, it appears as though that some Dell Streak 7 owners are getting the update just a little bit earlier than the rumored date of October 7th – though, some are reporting different stories in regards to its installation process.

HTC Explorer Android smartphone to land on Vodafone, Three UK

HTC the Explorer today, which is aimed at the entry level smartphone user, and both Vodafone and Three UK have followed up with statements that they will both carry the new device in their portfolios. The HTC Explorer runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and features a 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and a colorful 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display.

If seeing is believing, then it looks like one lucky eBay user has come across something amazing. After buying a Nexus S on eBay, the device arrived looking a little funny. According to the About Phone screen, this device is running an early dev build of Android’s next update, called Ice Cream Sandwich. The user was good enough to give a haphazard walkthrough on video.

This update delivers some new bug fixes, updates to pre-installed applications, and enhanced Wi-Fi stability. Sprint recently started rolling out the Android 2.3 update for the LG Optimus S. While those with the phone were excited about the update, there have been many complaints from those with the LG Optimus S about problems that have popped up with the device since the new software was downloaded. As a result, Sprint has put a halt to the update and is looking to send out a fixed version of the OS to those whose phone is no longer working correctly.

A tipster sent Android Central screenshots from LG's Partner Portal that shows off the LG Esteem, heading for MetroPCS. The handset will offer LTE connectivity and will be equipped with a 4.3 inch LCD display and has a single-core Snapdragon 1GHz processor driving the phone with 512MB of RAM. The 5MP camera on back captures video at 720p while the 1.3MP front-facing shooter will snap self-portraits and allows you to video chat. The latest version of LG's Optimus UI will run on top of Gingerbread. The price of the LG Esteem will be $349 with a $100 mail-in-rebate.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is the upcoming major redefinition of Google’s mobile platform and while we don’t know what it will look like, we already know that ICS will run on all kinds of screen sizes - from small to large and covering everything in between. It looks like the rumors are true, folks -- the long-awaited update that brings Google Wallet to the Samsung Nexus S 4G on Sprint is indeed here, just two days shy of missing the "summer" deadline completely. We're pretty scant on details at the moment, but the announcement has shown up on an official FAQ page on Samsung's site informing us that build GWK74 is available. If you're a proud owner of the now fully-functional device, you should receive a notification stating that an update is available to deliver the goods via an OTA refresh. We're not sure how long it will take for this to get pushed out to everyone, so a bit of patience may need to be exercised here as you wait. Let us know if...

Just as there will be Windows 8 tablets with NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments ARM-based chips, so goes the other way around - we will see Android devices, powered by Intel silicon.
In fact, rumors suggest that Intel employees have been walking the floors at IDF 2012 with HTC-made devices in hand running Android, but powered by an Intel chipset, which will be previewed around CES or MWC time early 2012.
Google's Andy Rubin announced a strategic move the other day to support Intel's x86 architecture in the next versions of Android, and the announcement was scheduled for the same day when Microsoft introduced Windows 8 running on ARMed tablets.
