LG's list of Android 4.0 phones is about to get a little longer, now that the manufacturer has confirmed the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich for even more handsets. LG revealed the news today in a Facebook post, specifying that the Optimus Black, Optimus 3D and Optimus LTE will all receive updates to Google's latest OS, along with the previously announced Optimus 2X. The company also said that it's "continuing to evaluate the ICS OS to determine whether it is compatible with the functionality, features and performance of other LG smartphones," adding that it hopes to bring the update to as many devices as possible. Samsung has released a new firmware update for its Galaxy S II superphone. The new software makes your thin smartphone run Android 2.3.6, adding new features and fixing some of the known bugs. For instance, the software fixes lockscreen hang bug, introduces some changes on the Camera Interface, increases HSPA connectivity speed (more than 21Mbps?), while making the boot-up faster. Panasonic reaffirms plans to bring its Android phones outside of Japan

We’re pretty confident Panasonic wants to sell phones to everyone interested whether he/she lives in Japan or not. However, it’s not as easy as it sounds even though the Japanese company makes some great products, like that LUMIX Phone 101P (arguably the best Android-based camera phone). Android claims 40% of enterprise mobile web traffic

Internet security service provider, Zscaler, recently published some interesting usage data for the last quarter, including some insight into mobile browser usage. Although iOS may be winning device adoption over BlackBerry in businesses, it looks like the majority of Zscaler’s enterprise subscribers that browse the web on smartphones (40.3%) are doing so through an Android device, while BlackBerry claimed 37.26%, and iOS 22.38%. Zscaler further broke down those numbers into geographies; 75.34% of the Android users were from the U.S., followed up by Spain (5.48%), Israel (9.17%), and Singapore (2.76%). Verizon Wireless has revealed that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung DROID Charge smartphone will be released in the near future, or "soon" as the carrier puts it. The update will add security fixes and performance enhancements along with all of the other goodies that come with Android 2.3. Verizon typically rolls these updates out slowly, so users will have to sit back and wait for the notification on their phones alerting them that the update is ready to download and install.

HTC G1 gets a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich

Even though Ice Cream Sandwich is popping up everywhere since its source code was released to the public, we've got to give a shout out now that its been squeezed onto the original Google phone, HTC's G1. The G1 was last seen sporting an unofficial Honeycomb port, and now jcarrz1 from XDA-Developers is showing off his device running Android 4.0 in this video. So far the touchscreen is (slowly) working, along with all apps and "ICS goodies", though WiFi, Bluetooth and rotation are still out. Samsung delivers Android 3.2 Honeycomb update to Galaxy Tab 10.1

Last week, Samsung released an update to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that brought along Android 3.2 Honeycomb to the slate. Unfortunately, it also broke a few important functions, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and others on a number of users' tablets. As a result of that, Samsung quickly halted the roll-out of the update to fix the issues. Now, the company claims that it has resolved all of the problems with the upgrade and has started distributing it to users once again. Owners of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 should get a notification on the tablet when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed. It can also be installed from Samsung's Kies desktop app on a PC.

Security researcher receives a cease-and-desist for exposing tracking software in Android devices

Carrier IQ has come under fire recently for its software that is found on several Android devices, including those manufactured by Samsung and HTC. Reports have surfaced that its tracking software creates detailed logs of everything that occurs on the phone.
Carrier IQ describes itself on its website as “the leading provider of Mobile Service Intelligence Solutions to the Wireless Industry” and released a media alert on November 16th, 2011 offering clarification on how its product is used and the information gathered. Google: Flash for Ice Cream Sandwich yet to be released

Update: Adobe has confirmed that it will indeed be releasing Flash Player for ICS.
It said in a statement sent to Pocket-Lint, "Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit -both expected to be released before the end of this year."
And that's your lot - after Android 4.0 support, there will be no more versions of Flash Player built by Adobe, although it will continue to offer "critical bug fixes and security updates".
Google has confirmed that Ice Cream Sandwich lacks Flash support and will continue to do so until Adobe makes the necessary updates to the software.

Android 4.0 keyboard now available for older versions

The Galaxy Nexus is almost here, but even if you're not in the market for a new phone you can sate your Ice Cream Sandwich appetite a little thanks to an XDA developers user, who extracted the keyboard application from Android 4.0 and made it available as a free download for Android 2.2 and 2.3. It's not the full 4.0 experience — voice input isn't working, and not all languages were ported over — but the keyboard's improved autocorrection, new look and feel, and a few other features came over in the transfer. We installed the keyboard on a Droid X2 running Gingerbread, and it activated and worked seamlessly.

Sony Ericsson Vscreens shares media to any device's browser

Sony Ericsson on Friday brought out a beta app that lets an Android device share its media on most bigger screens. Vscreens requires an Android app (Market) but can form a bond to share media with any device on the local Wi-Fi network by scanning a QR code on the screen. The link works on any modern browser and will show photos and videos on the target browser, even on iOS devices or the PS3.
The approach is a way to skip the trouble of requiring both devices on a universal sharing protocol, like DLNA, or else making a physical connection.
Running the app demands at least Android 2.1, but it isn't locked to Sony Ericsson phones.
