The ErgoSensor Monitor is a 24-inch 1920 x 1080 LCD with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and integrated stereo speakers, but it’s the ErgoSense system itself that’s most interesting. It relies on an embedded sensor to give optimal viewing distance, ergonomic neck angle and a time break advice.

Filed in: MonitorsAOCd2357Ph

AOC have announced a new monitor in their range, the 23” d2357Ph. Their new monitor is designed to take advantage of passive 3D technology, which means the glasses don’t need to be synced to the monitor, nor do they require an active power source. The d2357Ph is also capable of converting standard 2D material to 3D, if you don’t feel like waiting for Hollywood to convert all their classics.
The monitor also uses W-LED backlighting, helping AOC get the frame down to a svelte 5.8mm, although with the included stand that number grows to 10.6mm. Resolution is pegged at 1920×1080, response time is low 2ms, and viewing angles range from 170 degrees horizontal to 160 degrees on the vertical plane. ...

Dell U2412M - 16:10 IPS without Breaking the Bank

Posted on Mar 02, 2012 by MG1

For every monitor review that I’ve done for AnandTech so far, I know that as soon as I check the comments there will be a thread with the same theme: “I don’t care about 1080p monitors, I only want 16:10 aspect ratios!” When widescreen displays first came out for desktop LCD monitors, virtually every model was a 16:10 display. The 20” Dell I have on my own desk is 16:10, and almost every vendor made 16:10 panels.
As the price of flat panels dropped and HDTV adoption took over, more and more desktop panels migrated to the HDTV aspect ratio of 16:9. The reasons behind this were easy to understand, as you could produce more displays, reuse panels across PC and TV lines, and have a lower cost ac...

Acer S271HL: Ultra-Slim LED Monitor with a 100,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio

Acer S271HL: Ultra-Slim LED Monitor with a 100,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio

Posted on Feb 21, 2012 by MG1

Acer today unveiled its new S271HL S1 series monitor, an ultra-slim LED display with a scant 24mm profile and a rounded glossy porcelain-like foot stand. It has a 27-inch panel with a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080 @ 60Hz) resolution, but its real claim to fame is its 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic, of course), along with a super fast 2ms response time.
The space saving design, impressive spec sheet, and and large screen panel combine to form a panel suitable for both work and play, according to Acer, though if you're into serious graphics work, a Twisted Nematic (TN) display is probably not on your radar. Nevertheless, for the working stiff who doesn't require an IPS panel, the S271HL S1 i...
