Gone are the days when ghastly looking CRT monitors cluttered your desk with a chunky footprint and all the grace of a sloth. Some of today's displays actually quality for design awards, like Acer's S235HL monitor, winner of a 2012 iF product design award and one of five new ultra-slim, LED-backlit S Series LCD panels unveiled to the U.S. market place today. The other four models include the S200HL (20-inch), S230HL Abd (23-inch), S230HL Abii (23-inch), and S271HL (27-inch). Acer S271HL HD Monitor Released

Acer has unveiled the latest addition to their S Series, the S271HL. This 27 inch screen is capable of displaying full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and an 1100:1 contrast ratio. The monitor is designed to be ideal for both work and play with the large resolution and quick response time. The screen is powered by LED lamp technology. This ensures thin screen design and low energy consumption. Acer has included several connection options that include VGA, HDMI, DVI, and HDCP protection. Acer has not announced a retail price yet, but it can be ordered through certified retailers.

Acer today unveiled its new S271HL S1 series monitor, an ultra-slim LED display with a scant 24mm profile and a rounded glossy porcelain-like foot stand. It has a 27-inch panel with a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080 @ 60Hz) resolution, but its real claim to fame is its 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic, of course), along with a super fast 2ms response time.
The space saving design, impressive spec sheet, and and large screen panel combine to form a panel suitable for both work and play, according to Acer, though if you're into serious graphics work, a Twisted Nematic (TN) display is probably not on your radar.
