Grab the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for one cent on Amazon Wireless
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungAmazonGALAXY Nexus
As per usual, Amazon Wireless is throwing up some great deals on smartphones and is offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for a mere penny. While the handset may be 6 months old at this point (Ancient in Android phone years), it’s still a great phone and grabbing it for a penny is a steal.
Of course, to get the Galaxy Nexus for a penny, you’re going to need to sign a two-year contract with Verizon. Also, this deal is only for new customers, and existing Verizon customers will still have to pay up $149 to get the handset. While we really like the Galaxy Nexus, if you’re looking to upgrade your phone within the next two months, we’d suggest you wait it out for the Samsung Galaxy S III that should ...

U.S. Cellular on Monday announced that it will join the four major U.S. carriers in offering Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. Samsung Galaxy Nexus sale: Just $0.01 from Amazon
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
With Samsung’s Galaxy S III rolling out across at least five carriers in the United States beginning this month and HTC’s One X and One S already available, the world’s most popular Android 4.0 phone is already past its prime. The phone first hit the market in the U.S. this past December as a Verizon Wireless exclusive, and while Android 4.0 adoption is still just beginning to take off, technology has been a bit quicker to shift. Newly announced smartphones tout quad-core chipsets and vastly improved battery performance, but they also carry hefty price tags. For those in search of an Ice Cream Sandwich phone without having to fork over $200 or more, Amazon is now offering Samsung’s latest pu...

Samsung Galaxy S III coming to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and US Cellular this month
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessT-MobileAT&TSprintGalaxy S III
Official is as official does... right? In a bid to one-up the Galaxy S II's launch here in the States, Samsung has just announced that five carriers will soon have their own customized versions of the Galaxy S III. And by "soon," we mean "beginning in June." AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and US Cellular are all in line to take part, with exact pricing and availability to be announced by each of the five carriers in the coming weeks. We are, however, told to expect on-contract prices as low as $199, and it sounds as if all five variants will keep the same 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display.

iPhone 5 hardware tipped to include Samsung processor
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesCPUSamsungApple
It appears today that Samsung is indeed inside the next iPhone if a leaked Beta version of iOS 6 is to be believed. This version of Apple’s mobile operating system is being run by the folks at 9to5mac who also note that they’ve got the software running on an iPhone today, it showing off Darwin Kernel Version 13.0.0 and signs of an ARM S5L8950X processor from Samsung. This basic confirmation that Samsung is in the next Apple mobile device takes rumors that Apple was moving away from Samsung parts in their devices and puts the processor portion, at least, to rest as a falsehood.

Apple, Samsung smartphones and tablets dissected by Technicolor

Technicolor, the iconic French company that invented the process that enables color movies, is looking for large patent payoffs from major mobile vendors, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. The company holds more than 40,000 video, audio and optics patents, and reportedly employs a team of 220 people who dissect every new smartphone and tablet from vendors such as Apple, Samsung and HTC. The team is responsible for locating patent infringements within each device. “We usually send manufacturers a big file, with photos of the guts of their products, pointing to where they’ve been using our technology without paying for it,” said Beatrix de Russe, a lawyer and executive vice president of intellect...

And the Verizon Galaxy Nexus OTA is now actually rolling out
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus
We reported two days ago that Verizon had finally made the Android 4.0.4 update official on its website, and now, perhaps 5 months after many people were expecting and update, the OTA is getting pushed out to actual phones owned by real flesh and blood people. Of course owners of the GSM version are already rocking 4.0.4, even the Sprint version (which is actually identical save for different branding and the presence of Google Wallet) have enjoyed the update for a month.

Samsung posts Galaxy S III source code, modders start their engines
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S III
That was fast: just a few days after the Galaxy S III reached buyers' eager hands, Samsung has posted the phone's source code. Its dutiful clinging to Google's Android guidelines opens the floodgates to custom ROMs as well as a better sense of what makes Samsung's Android 4.0 variant tick. As you'd anticipate, the code is only valid for the international GT-i9300 version. North American models, for the time being, are left out. Still, the source is useful for most anyone that wants to tinker with what should be the most ubiquitous Google-powered phone of the year, so get to downloading if that sounds like you.

Samsung sells over 50 million units of first two Galaxy S models, 7 million Samsung GALAXY Notes
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsung
According to numbers confirmed by Samsung, since its launch in June 2010, the Samsung Galaxy S handset has sold 24 million units. That is pretty good, but the Samsung Galaxy S II, considered the best Android smartphone produced to date, sold 28 million units in about half the time. That adds up to 52 million units sold of the first two Samsung Galaxy S handsets. The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S III already has over 9 million handsets pre-ordered, according to a Samsung Executive, making it the fastest selling gadget of all time.

Canadian Samsung Galaxy S III announced: 2GB of RAM, 1.5GHz dual-core processor
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S III
The Canadian variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III will scrap the quad-core Exynos processor found in the European version and instead feature a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. The Canadian handset, like the Japanese model, will also receive a RAM boost from 1GB to 2GB. It has already been confirmed that the Galaxy S III would be equipped with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor on U.S. carriers with 4G LTE networks. It is unclear, however, if U.S. devices will also receive the RAM increase, although it does seem more likely now. The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available in Canada beginning June 20th.

A leaked screenshot of the internal computer system of U.S. Cellular shows that the regional carrier could be among the mobile operators in the States to offer the Samsung Galaxy S III.
