Nokia Lumia 710 Goes Free at Walmart on Contract
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 710
The next time you're out battling the crowd at Wally World stocking up on toilet paper, cereal, and fish bait (hopefully for different purposes and not because of some weird fetish), you may decide to add a Windows Phone 7.5 device to your shopping cart. It's not exactly a tough sell when the mega retailer decides to give one away for free, like it's doing with Nokia's Lumia 710 smartphone.

Nokia Lumia 710 hitting UK on February 1st
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 710
While Nokia Lumia 800 has been available in the UK for some time now, its lower-end sibling Lumia 710 is yet to hit the stores across the country. Apparently, the wait will end soon with the Finnish company launching its entry-level Windows Phone device on February 1st. Orange and Three are on board to sell the new phone, though we’re sure third-party retailers will offer it on a number of plans from all (most) major carriers. The price is unknown at the moment, but it’s safe to bet you’ll be able to secure your unit for free on plans starting below 30 GBP per month. Unlocked, the device will probably sell for about 300 GBP, though we don’t have anything confirmed at this stage — it’s just m...

Rumor: Nokia Lumia 900 with 12 MP camera to hit other operators in Q3
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 900
Last week Nokia announced the Windows Phone Mango running Lumia 900 at CES. It’s the company’s first 4G LTE phone and the phone that they hope will make Americans take Nokia seriously again. AT&T will be the first to offer the device, with the rumored launch date being March 18th, but what about the other operators? According to Paul Thurrott’s SuperSite for Windows AT&T’s contract with Nokia gives them a 45 day exclusivity window. Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon are supposedly considering offering the Lumia 900 at some point in Q3 of this year. It’s not going to be the same Lumia 900 that AT&T is getting however, this updated model will pack a 12 megapixel camera. Now of course this is all ju...

Nokia Lumia 900 to be released in March?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 900
Has the Nokia Lumia 900 caught your attention? If so, you are not alone. In fact, everybody seems to like Nokia's first LTE Windows Phone, and a number of people are probably thinking of grabbing one when it hits the shelves. There is one thing that was omitted during the Lumia 900's announcement, however, namely its release date. All that we were given was the rather vague “next few months” statement.
But now, thanks to a clue spotted inside of a Nokia Developer newsletter, we have a reason to believe that the Nokia Lumia 900 could be available for purchase no later than March of this year. The one who shared the discovery with the world clarifies that March 18 could be the smartphone's exa...

Nokia N9 upcoming update to bring video conferencing, folders a la iOS
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN9
Nokia has pleasantly surprised us by delivering timely updates to its Nokia N9 one and only MeeGo device, and another major update, PR 1.2 is on the way. The update will enable the front facing camera and will let you use it to video call your friends. It also adds folders working in iOS-like fashion, support for copy-paste in the browser and other enhancements.
MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan is definitely a more refined version and adds a needed coat of polish to the otherwise very innovative Swipe UI. Some of the new features like the folders one might spark controversy over how new they are when compared with other operating systems, but they’re a welcome addition anyway. The camera application and ...

Nokia's Lumia 710, its first Windows Phone for the US, is on sale now
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMicrosoftNOKIAWindows Phone 7Lumia 710
It's been a long time coming, but you can finally buy a Nokia Windows Phone in the US. T-Mobile launched the Lumia 710 today in black and white for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with the requisite 2-year contract. We still think it's a fair price, despite the few qualms we had with the device when we reviewed it, but the forthcoming Lumia 900 puts a damper on our enthusiasm for this device a bit. However, it's not for us; it's for first-time smartphone buyers, and still seems like a solid choice for that market. Despite the Lumia 710's status as an entry-level device, it's exciting to see Nokia have a major US release for the first time in months.

Nokia confirms Lumia 900 doesn't have Pentile display
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 900
While we knew the Lumia 900 would have "Clear Black" AMOLED display, what we didn't know was whether it would sport a Pentile Matrix layout (like the Lumia 800). Well, fret no more friends, it's official -- the Lumia 900 has a full battery of subpixels in an RGB array. Nokia confirmed as such earlier via it's US Twitter account in reply to a user's inquiry. Between LTE and the RGB panel it looks like Nokia has its first genuinely lust-worthy Mango device on its hands.

Samsung CEO Choi Gee-sung was convinced that 2012 will mark the end of Nokia’s 14-year rule of the handset market, and Samsung will take over.

Rumors about Nokia's unannounced "Ace" LTE Windows Phone have been building, and now the handset is all-but-official: The New York Times cites sources who say that Nokia plans to unveil the Lumia 900 on Monday at CES, and that it will be headed to AT&T in the US. We still don't have confirmation on specs, but if the rumors hold, we're looking at a 4.3-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, and 8-megapixel camera, all running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. We reached out to Microsoft for comment, and a company spokesperson had this to say:

Nokia Lumia 710 Will Be Canada’s First 2nd-Gen Windows Phone
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIALumia 710
Canada has always been a bit neglected in Microsoft’s Windows Phone push (even with competitions as awesome as this one), and so far not one second-gen device has been launched there. However, that is finally set to change, with the Nokia Lumia 710 and subseqently Lumia 900 arriving at some unknown dates, according to a tipster of MobileSyrup. It is also not known yet whether they will launch on Rogers, Bell or Telus.
The Nokia Lumia 710 is a mid-range device, featuring a 3.7″ LCD display with WVGA resolution, 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM and 5MP camera, whereas the rumored Lumia 900, codenamed Ace, will reportedly have a bigger 4.3″ ClearBlack AMOLED display, a higher-quality 8MP ...
