Nokia Lumia 900 also available for pre-order at Rogers Canada

Posted on Apr 02, 2012 by MG1

All the Nokia Lumia 900 fun is not just to be had on AT&T in USA. The Nokia Lumia 900 is also coming to Rogers Canada, and the handset actually became available on pre-order there first.
The handset is available there for $99 on a three year contract, and will also be $450 unlocked (which would to me seem to be the better option).

Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T to support Visual Voicemail, but other Windows Phone users may not get it

Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T to support Visual Voicemail, but other Windows Phone users may not get it

Posted on Mar 26, 2012 by MG1

As we fully expected, the comments on our recent post about AT&T's apparent decision to not push out the lastest bugfix version of Windows Phone, 8107, have expressed a good deal of unhappiness. However, one comment in particular caught our eye, from scrapplejoe, which points out a thread at neogaf suggesting Visual Voicemail is present on the Lumia 900. In fact, there's an even deeper backstory involving a method of forced updating and clever data plan switching first discovered at xda-developers, with which it's possible to get Visual Voicemail working on a Nokia Lumia 800, Focus Flash, or even other devices on AT&T. The trick primarily requires two things: enabling a 4G LTE plan on AT&T (...

Now Nokia Lumia 710 also sold out on Optus Australia

Now Nokia Lumia 710 also sold out on Optus Australia

Posted on Mar 21, 2012 by MG1

First the Black Nokia Lumia 800 ran out on Australian carrier Optus, and now scarcely 4 days alter, the Nokia Lumia 710 has followed suit, becoming unavailable on Optus’s virtual store shelves (stock likely remains in stores).
Unfortunately we of course do not know how much stock Optus had, but what is clear is that demand has certainly exceeded supply, which is always good news for Nokia’s entrance to Australia with their brand new OS.

Is this the Nokia Lumia 719c?

Is this the Nokia Lumia 719c?

China is getting even closer to its first taste of Nokia Windows Phone and it might include a new phone entirely. While we're still two weeks away from Mr. Elop's proposed March 28th launch, the leaked shot above is purported to be the Lumia 719c -- a previously unseen Windows Phone that could arrive in time for Nokia's latest smartphone push. It has that familiar curved shape and plastic build, but there's some slight design riffs to set it apart from both the Lumia 710 and 610 -- one of which it'll likely replace in Chinese stores. We only have Mr. Blurrycam's one-shot portrait to go on so far, but expect to see some price-constrained specs like those seen on Nokia's other entry-level smar...

Lumia 610 to ship with internet sharing enabled, smartphone first-timers to be none the wiser

Lumia 610 to ship with internet sharing enabled, smartphone first-timers to be none the wiser

Posted on Mar 16, 2012 by MG3

Wireless tethering, free of any carrier-imposed data shackles, is something of a reward for the well-informed smartphone buyer. Save for a sprinkling of Android handsets that natively include the feature -- specifically, Google's Nexus line -- only Windows Phone Mango offers users that same option, should the operator and OEM choose to enable it. So, it wasn't much of a surprise when Nokia unleashed its Lumia 800 and 710 to the market without internet sharing switched on. Their lil' bro the 610, on the other hand, stands poised to be the first to offer that WiFi hotspot access right out of the box. From an operator standpoint, the move make sense -- power users are less likely to claim the l...

When it comes to concept phones, they really run the gamut from reality to fantasy. In the latest render to hit the web, Tasak gives us a glimpse of the Nokia Lumia 1000 the way his imagination dreams it up.
He envisions this device to be running an Intel Atom 1.8GHz dual-core even though Stephen Elop recently said dual- and quad-core mobile phones are a waste of battery. Aesthetically, the device features a 4.3-inch AMOLED display, a slide out QWERTY keyboard with joystick, and a 41-megapixel PureView camera on the back.

Rumor: AT&T to launch the Nokia Lumia 900 on April 8th?

Rumor: AT&T to launch the Nokia Lumia 900 on April 8th?

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone, the Lumia 900, was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show back in January of this year. AT&T said they would offer it, but they failed to mention when it would actually hit store shelves or say how much it’s going to cost. Here we are, two months later, and we still don’t have those details. Earlier rumors suggested it would come out on the 18th of March, which is this coming Sunday, but now there’s word on the street that an April 8th launch date is more likely. This information comes from someone who claims to be an employee at one of AT&T’s retail stores in California.

Nokia Lumia 900 release date now supposedly set for April 8

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Hope you have those salt shakers nearby as it is time for another dose of rumors. This time, it is the Nokia Lumia 900 release date that is being speculated with. Last time when we heard anything regarding the device's launch was only a day ago when an insider said that the smartphone will be delayed in the U.S. and that it would launch on April 22.
Today, however, we have sources for The Verge claiming that the Nokia Lumia 900 for AT&T will be released on April 8. The tipster presents himself as an assistant manager at an AT&T store somewhere in California. Furthermore, he mentions that a demo unit has already been delivered to the store, and he appears to be very satisfied with it. As far ...

Nokia Lumia 900 sport adventure promo videos appear as release date looms closer

Nokia Lumia 900 sport adventure promo videos appear as release date looms closer

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Nokia has put a lot of hope and effort into the AT&T-bound Lumia 900 - the first high-end Nokia Windows Phone handset to hit American shores with LTE and now we know the release date - April 8th. This coincides with talk about Microsoft Stores getting the handset in the second week of April. The Lumia 900 is expected to come with a tempting price tag of merely $99 on contract.
The Nokia Lumia 900 launch is expected to be big with some promos going on like gift cards for apps offered along with the phone. It’s possible that Microsoft backs it up by in some way bundling the phone with an XBOX 360. Similarly, the Lumia 800 was sold with a free XBOX 360 in the UK.

Sony claims Nokia 808 PureView 41-megapixel sensor is old tech

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Sony has called the Nokia 808 PureView phone a "development announcement" rather than a consumer product and claims that its 41-megapixel camera is old technology.
The Japanese manufacturer states that it has used similar pixel zoom technology in its cameras for about a year, but does give Nokia a nod for implementing it inside a mobile phone.

Nokia Lumia 610 to retail for affordable Rs 11,000 in India

Posted on Mar 13, 2012 by MG1

The Mobile Indian reports that the Nokia Lumia 610, Nokia’s low-end play running Windows Phone Tango, will be hitting the Indian market in the next few months at a very reasonable price.
Nokia India’s marketing director, Viral Oza told them at Mobile World Congress, "We will be launching Lumia 610 soon in the Indian market and at an affordable price."
The handset is expected to retail at around Rs 11,000 (around $220) which about 1/3 cheaper than the next cheapest Windows Phones, the Samsung Omnia W or the Nokia Lumia 710, which retails for Rs 15,500.
The phone is relatively well specced for the price, featuring a 3.7 inch capacitive screen, 5 megapixel camera and 8 GB storage, making it com...

Nokia distributing Lumia 900 to developers, job applicants

Nokia distributing Lumia 900 to developers, job applicants

Posted on Mar 12, 2012 by MG1

WPCentral reports that developers have started receiving Nokia Lumia 900 handsets in USA. Nokia has earlier said they intend to give away 25,000 handsets to developers, so the company is clearly pretty generous with their hardware.
In fact they are so generous they are even giving away a handset every 30 min to job applicants at their job recruitment day in San Diego on March 15th.
While there is rumours that the handset is delayed, it seems a lucky few will getting their hands-on after all.
