Droid RAZR MAXX sales: iPhone 4S no longer king at Verizon
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleMotorolaiPhone 4sRAZR MAXX
Given the iPhone’s popularity, it must be the top-selling smartphone on the top three major U.S. wireless carriers, right? Not so fast, says William Blair analyst Anil Doradla, who penned a note to investors this week stating that the Droid RAZR MAXX is now the best-selling smartphone on Verizon even though the iPhone maintains its top spot at AT&T and Sprint. This doesn’t mean that Doradla is down on Apple as a whole, of course, as Barron’s reports that the analyst is “unfazed” by slipping sales at Verizon and still maintains his Outperform rating on shares of Apple stock. There are some good reasons that the iPhone might not be selling as well as high-end Android handsets on Verizon, with ...

Motorola DROID BIONIC receives some enhancements with its latest maintenance update
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC
Although it’s far from being the shiniest thing out of Motorola’s stable, the already aging DROID BIONIC is still receiving some love in the form of a new over-the-air update. Verizon Wireless customers still holding dearly to the smartphone, in light of some recent ones, should be seeing that notification hitting their device right about now.
Bringing the smartphone up to version 5.9.905, it brings forth a few enhancements that should no doubt keep existing owners content enough to still call the device their own. From the looks of it all, the maintenance update features the following items:

Motorola is finally getting ready to unleash Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on its Droid Razr line of devices.
A series of videos released today from Motorola Japan show off the new OS running on a Droid Razr device.
Motorola provided its own skin for Ice Cream Sandwich, replacing most of the smartphone's icons and adding some useful new features.
The biggest change is that four shortcuts now appear on the phone's lock screen, with Motorola adding messaging and dialer shortcuts to the standard Android 4.0 camera and unlock options.

Motorola DROID RAZR HD appears in Cellebrite system
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorola
The Cellebrite system is what carriers use to move over some of the data from your old phone, like the contacts list, to your new phone. While the inclusion of a phone model in the system doesn't automatically mean that a launch is imminent, it can be a sign that a release is getting closer. Thanks to a leaked photo, we can see that third party Cellebrite machines are now showing the DROID RAZR HD as model number XT926. Verizon customers and your everyday variety DROID fans have been waiting to see what the Motorola DROID RAZR HD would look like and check out the specs.

Motorola DROID 3 gets update that fixes MMS bug, improves 3G connectivity and more
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID 3
The Motorola DROID 3 was the last of the tank-like handsets to not offer 4G LTE connectivity. Surpassed since by the Motorola DROID 4, the device remains an underrated device with one of the best physical QWERTY keyboards to ever slide out the side of a smartphone, and a dual-core processor. Whether it was a matter of the phone showing its age, or just an unfortunate bug that afflicted the device, many Motorola DROID 3 users had found themselves unable to send or receive an MMS message and even installing a third party program from the Google Play Store failed to help. Long talks with Verizon's technical team couldn't solve the problem. But there is a happy ending thanks to an OTA firmware ...

Motorola Ice Cream Sandwich update -- DROID 3 and DROID X2 left in the dark
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMotorolaGoogleAndroid 2.3DROID X2DROID 3Android 4.0
Motorola recently updated its Android release timeline and revealed that certain devices will remain on Android 2.3 rather than receiving an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The handsets in question are both modern and more than capable of running the latest Android operating system, however the vendor claims the latest software won’t “improve” the devices, and that’s why updates will not be released. Both the DROID 3 and DROID X2 will remain on Android 2.3, despite the fact that both handsets run dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors and were released not even a year ago.

Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE heading to Sprint?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaSprintPHOTON 4G
It looks like Sprint and Motorola are working on the successor of Photon 4G, which as far as we’re hearing will be called Photon Q 4G LTE. Yep it will run on Sprint’s soon-to-be-launched LTE network and aside from the new radio, it will also sport a 720p HD screen and perhaps a quad-core processor. The last thing is just a speculation on my end, though when you think about it with all other major handset makers set to announce a quad-core device (some of them already have such product – HTC One X), Moto should do something about it and prepare its answer…
