In our never-ending happiness of getting software updates, T-Mobile’s HTC Sensation 4G is the latest smartphone to see light of a new one that simply offers additional ‘performance and stability’ improvements – according to the carrier.
With this new software update, it brings the beloved handset to software version 1.50.531.31, however, it keeps its feet firmly on Android 2.3.4 and the HTC Sense 3.0 experience. Even though it doesn’t particularly come off as a major update, it’ll nonetheless provide some happiness to owners.
Now don’t fret if you haven’t received that notification just yet, seeing that it’s rolling out starting right now, and all the way through until January 15th. Certain...

TmoNews reports the HTC HD7 and HTC Radar 4G are both getting an update tomorrow which will bring fixes to visual voice mail (the only US carrier which actually support it) and also bring performance improvements. The update is likely the 7740 update which is slowly tricking out all around the world.
Of more interest is that the update will also bring WIFI tethering to the HTC HD7 and allow connection to hidden WIFI access points. There has been a rumour recently that AT&T is planning not to bring these new features to the Samsung Focus and other first generation devices.

Judge could place ban on HTC phones in the U.S. starting next week

After extensive coverage of Samsung‘s war with Apple overseas, there’s a bit of a twist today: the legal battles don’t always involve Samsung and they aren’t taking place overseas. Welcome back to the legal battles between HTC and Apple. On December 14th, the smartphone manufacturer may face a giant ban against U.S. imports. If so, it would be a devastating blow to the company.
The patents currently being argued over mostly relate to software. The first is for a “system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data.” It sounds broad, but it gets a little more specific when Apple provides an example, such as the ability to find and highlight phone numbers in Sa...

AT&T Reveals First LTE Phones: HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket

AT&T Reveals First LTE Phones: HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket

Posted on Dec 01, 2011 by MG1

For a few months now AT&T has had an LTE network, but no phones that could take advantage of it. Well, that all changes today — AT&T has just announced that the Android-powered HTC Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket will be the first to run on their LTE network, and will hit store shelves on November 6.
The HTC Vivid packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor under the proverbial hood, and a 4.5-inch qHD display graces its face. A 8-megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p video occupies the Vivid’s rear end, and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB with the right microSD cards) rounds out the package. HTC has kept mum on the specific version of Android the Vivid runs, but it d...

HTC faces smartphone ban in Germany

HTC faces smartphone ban in Germany

Filed in: Cell PhonesHTC

HTC’s German subsidiaries may soon be barred from selling smartphones in the country following HTC’s recent decision to forgo an appeal to a patent lawsuit won by IPCom in 2009. The ban could spell trouble for HTC smartphone sales during the holiday season. “We will likely use the right awarded by the courts, likely resulting in HTC devices disappearing from shops during the crucial Christmas season,” IPCom said, noting that it hopes to enforce an injunction against HTC’s devices as soon as possible. HTC did not specifically say why it decided to pull its appeal, although The Guardian said HTC has previously indicated that its appeal argument was redundant. ”While HTC can try to oppose the e...

HTC Titan sold out on AT&T

HTC Titan sold out on AT&T

Posted on Nov 28, 2011 by MG1

It may have been a mistake to sell the HTC Titan for only 1c yesterday, as it seems the gigantic handset has proven so popular that it is now temporarily out of stock on AT&T.
The handset was already in short supply even before the promotion, and many users had difficulty taking advantage of the deal.
Hopefully Microsoft convinced AT&T to order a good supply, and the shortage is an indication of popularity and not just low stock.
Are any of our readers having difficulty getting their hands on an HTC Titan? Let us know below.

HTC rumored to be building a true Facebook phone

Filed in: Cell PhonesHTC

A new rumor has surfaced that has HTC working closely with social networking giant Facebook on a smartphone that is codenamed Buffy that will feature a modified version of Android making it a true Facebook phone.
Let’s face it; the HTC Status hasn’t been a very successful offering by AT&T. However, the HTC Status is nothing more than a low-end Android device with a blue Facebook button stationed below the keyboard that gives users the ability to post to their account quickly. What HTC and Facebook are believed to be working on now is something much more.
It is possible that the device simply known as Buffy will have a modified version of the Android platform that will make Facebook the fro...

HTC releases the source code for the Rezound, Explorer, Desire S, and Amaze 4G

HTC releases the source code for the Rezound, Explorer, Desire S, and Amaze 4G

Posted on Nov 23, 2011 by MG1

Great news for you developers and hackers out there. HTC recently announced the official release of the Kernel source code of its four top notch devices. These handsets include the recently announced HTC Rezound, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Explorer, HTC Desire S and the HTC Desire.
So what’s the big deal about source codes anyway? Well, source codes are incredibly useful as they not only allow users to take a closer look at new software, so a report of any bugs can be formulated. Also, they give developers and hackers a chance to either pullout usable parts or use the bits to create custom ROMs for devices. Basically, without a kernel source you can’t upload those cool third-party ROM’s from XDA-deve...

Red DROID Incredible 2 coming on November 24th

Red DROID Incredible 2 coming on November 24th

Posted on Nov 21, 2011 by MG15

Verizon Wireless will soon introduce a red version of the DROID Incredible 2 smartphone. As far as we understood, the new device will hit the stores on November 24th, just when people will start getting crazy, buying all the things they need and don’t need. I admit that red Incredible 2 looks like a perfect gift for smartphone newbies (and folks who don’t care about the high-end features), whereas those with some experience will go for some other Android device from Verizon’s portfolio – like let’s say the DROID Galaxy Nexus or DROID RAZR.

An image and details surrounding a purported new HTC smartphone code-named “Zeta” have been uncovered. HTC, porn company tussling over Vivid name

HTC, porn company tussling over Vivid name

Posted on Nov 17, 2011 by MG1

If you walk into an AT&T store and plan to pick up the 4G LTE-capable HTC Vivid, would you be confused into thinking this is part of a porn company? Well, Vivid Entertainment seems to think so, as it asking HTC to change the name or it will be sued.
HTC told The Verge that it doesn’t have any comments but it seems like an odd idea to me, as it’s clear to me that this device doesn’t come from the adult entertainment company, even if you can use Android for porn. Still, Vivid is very deep into technology and it too wants to protect its brands out there.
What do you think of this legal threat? Should HTC bend over to Vivid?

HTC Mozart and HD7 go back to grade school, learn how to Internet Share

Posted on Nov 17, 2011 by MG1

The ability to use your Windows Phone as a mobile hotspot was originally an exclusive feature extended only to brand new Mango devices, but we're now beginning to see Internet Sharing pop up on the HTC HD7 and Mozart. We're seeing reports that it's showing up in various parts of the world, though we still haven't heard if this will include T-Mobile HD7 users in the US or if it still awaits final carrier approval first. Either way, it's probably worth clicking on that Zune icon to check for the update.

HTC and Verizon Wireless have apparently restarted the deployment of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the original DROID Incredible. Initially released back in September, the companies pulled the update shortly after it went out for undisclosed reasons. Here we are over two months later and users are reporting left and right that the upgrade is once again available to them. Users should get a notification on their devices when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed, or they can manually check through the Settings app on the phone itself.
